Sex & Nudity

  • First part of movie, man and woman kissing. But they get interrupted and they stop.

Violence & Gore

  • A woman is flung across a room by an invisible force. She is seen coughing blood.
  • A woman's body is found with her tongue ripped out. In addition, her eyes have rolled into the back of her head, and several porcelain-doll like cracks are on her face. Moderately graphic, but very brief.
  • Very low amount of gore for an R rated horror film. Although has mildly disturbing images, teenagers 14 years of age or older should be capable of handling this if they have watched other horror films.
  • The main villain, Mary Shaw, kills her victims by ripping out their tongues, the process normally happens off screen however the result is show. Their jaw is slit open and their tongues are terribly ripped off.
  • Level of violence:7/10.
  • An old man tells the legend of Mary Shaw. She was forced to scream, and then had her tongue cut out with a razor. The actual murder is not shown.
  • An elderly man is shown with a large wooden pipe in his back, instead of his spine.
  • Many people have their tongues removed; this happens offscreen.

Profanity

  • 1 incomplete use of "Fuck", 4 uses of "Hell", and 1 use of "Dick".

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The ending may be shocking to some.
  • The premise of ventriloquist dolls moving by themselves may scare some viewers.
