The Captain fires off a large amount of rounds from a
semi-automatic pistol at the cobra (more than fifty) without ever reloading.
After the fight with the cobra, several minutes later the Captain again fires over fifty rounds at a komodo dragon without reloading. Then later when the Captain faces off against the cobra on the beach he fires more rounds than the gun could hold, again without reloading
Despite frequently referring to the military in the picture as the U.S. military, the jets pictured in the film are from stock footage of Russian MiG-23 fighter jets, complete with the flag of the U.S.S.R. on the tail.
In addition McDonald Douglas F4 Phantoms with Israeli (Magen David) markings are seen in some footage of two jets flying together and then separating.
When asked if "he was a pilot", Michael Pare' answers "Airborne Rangers, Gulf War". While some individual Rangers may have their pilot's license, Rangers do not, as part of their jobs, pilot aircraft. The answer is a complete non-sequitor. Pare' later says he "Got his discharge at Pearl"; Pearl harbor is a naval base. Army personnel would be discharged from Schofield Barracks, or perhaps Fort DeRussy, NOT Pearl Harbor.
Dr. Richardson states that the military had them experiment on the Komodo and the cobra because "both are amphibious". They are seen emerging from the water. Both are reptiles capable of swimming (thus 'amphibious' - not to be confused with 'amphibian', the class of animals that begin life as water-breathers, emerging to live on land after a metamorphosis).
(At about 34:50) The signs identifying the "Military Headquarters" as "The [Los Angeles] Arboretum" are clearly visible.
It was stated that the "growth matrix" used to enlarge the komodos and cobras was originally intended to be used on crops to eliminate world hunger. However, it's later revealed that leeches and anything else that feeds on the animals treated with the growth matrix will also grow into giant monsters. So why was nobody worried about the vegetables grown with the growth matrix turning people into giant monsters?
Early on in the movie, when General Bradley is talking to Major Garber in a hallway, a boom mic can be seen reflected in a wall hanging.
