Lance Open To All Sexes

This is an LKS cast member here, thanking Bill for his honesty. I would also love to thank him for his discerning eye, but Sarah and I (who both blushed at Bill's compliment "flashes of real comic ability in supporting players, Sarah Baker and Phil Cater") aren't really in the first two episodes except briefly. Keep watching, and if we really are who you think we are, thank you for your kind words, sir.

Everyone else keep watching as well! Spike gave us 100% creative control, but picked the material for the first shows themselves, so they are a little skewed towards Spike's main audience. As in: Men! Especially that tasty demographic 18-24. As the season progresses, however, so does the show, so ladies you are welcome to come to our place and party.

Does that mean there are no more scatological or crude sexual jokes? Hell, no! We think that stuff is hilarious! You will also find twisted, sometimes subtle, comedy that perhaps even old men like Bill will enjoy.

Hilarious--and Unique

I wanted to watch a few episodes of this show before posting a review, and now that the third episode has aired, I think it's safe to say that this is easily my favorite sketch show in a while. It's hilarious.

It's really unique--not quite like other sketch shows--it looks different and has its own vibe. If I was to try to compare it to anything, it kind of reminds me of a mash up Kids in the Hall (for the surreal sketches), the Farrelly Brothers (for its affection for the fun in lowbrow comedy), Curb Your Enthusiasm (for its improvised feel). Oh, and Kung Fu. Funny kung fu, of course. Plus, the show looks really great--very stylish--a real eye for visual detail.

One of the things that stands out about the show is that it makes you laugh so hard at low brow stuff, high brow/high concept stuff, and weird stuff, too. By having ALL of these angles, I appreciated each of them even more.

I laughed out loud at a number of what might be considered the more "Spike-centric" sketches--I'm not so old that I can't burst out at the "Peedrinking" sketch or the guy "enjoying himself" in his cubicle. I also loved the characters (Tron, the comedian/dry-cleaner, in particular). What really stands out, though, and I'm starting to really see it here with episode three, is the out-of-left-field, strange stuff. The zombie-hippie sketch was one of the greatest things I've seen in a long, long time....

Lance is hilarious, and the whole cast is equally strong--the actors all work together seamlessly and they bring out the best in each other.

With three down, I'm looking forward to more episodes...There's plenty here for both people who watch Spike all the time, and for those of us who don't fit the normal demographic. More episodes, please...

Brilliant

Seriously one of the best sketch comedy shows I've ever seen. I really wish this show had the opportunity to keep going. The only reason I think it didn't continue was when it aired and the Network it was on. Spike TV isn't exactly the right home for an ongoing sketch comedy series. Had they been on Comedy Central I feel like it would have gone on for many more seasons. My brother and I still quote this show ever today

Pleasant Surprise
DiscoBiscuits8 June 2005
So on June 6th i decide to watch wrestling for the first time in a very long while because it sucks now. Mind you this night i'm in a very bad mood, had a very bad day, just not good at all. So wrestling ends and I see the name "Lance Krall" and I'm thinking WTF is this? The first Ninja skit was weird, a little creepy, directed well, and funny too. Then I see Lance and think, Wow who the hell is this goofball? This is gonna' be the worst show ever(Sorry Lance I'm just being honest). From then on I realized he is not a goofball, but actually funny and talented. His prank phone call about getting his poodle trimmed had me laughing out loud(I usually don't do that when I'm in a bad mood), although I am better at doing prank calls than Lance, it was still pretty good. The robot alien skit was pretty cool, that other guy playing a hick with Lance was pretty damn funny as well, you could tell this skit was mostly improv from their free flowing dialogue and the fixed camera to allow them space fro improv and save time in the editing room. The character Tron had the same effect on me, laughing out loud. There was another skit that was really funny too but I can't remember it. Then at the end when that girl showed the montage of Lance hitting people I laughed the hardest I've laughed in a while, especially when he was hitting people with tennis rackets, that was pure genius, just the way he chased someone down and kept hitting them was great. I was surprised to find out that this was actually the season finale. I wish i knew about the show before, I would love to see another season of this show. I don't really know how successful it was in terms of ratings so I don't know if spike is gonna pick the show back up, but hopefully they do, as someone who is studying film, likes dojg comedy improv, and hoping to be successful at writing comedy in my future I appreciate the mixture of good directing(especially for a first season show, someone on the crew must have some experience in film because it had a cinematic feel and tone to it)and also the flare for improv comedy the players have. Good luck to Lance and his crew, hopefully I will be able to see the show again on spike, or maybe another network will pick it up (comedy central) if they are smart....
