Don't show this to children. Please.

'Twas the night before Christmas, and I sat down to watch this £1 DVD with two younger siblings. Straight away I had a bad feeling about this, mainly because the cover had a picture of a penguin with a hairstyle. Penguins don't have blonde ringlets. Such an abomination shouldn't exist.

Unfortunately, the bad character design was only the first of my worries. I know this is a film for kids and all, but the plot barely makes sense, with sinister oligarchs, terrorist pirates (really), and magical "flying dust". The animation is hilariously bad, with characters clipping through the scenery and each other. The dialogue is at best perfunctory, and the musical pieces literally made me sob with horror.

Perhaps the most disturbing aspect of this film is the slow dawning realisation that mankind appears to be, with the exception of Saint Nicholas, extinct. The penny drops and you realise you're being shown a nightmarish vision of a post-apocalyptic world where mutant penguins with stupid hair have created a fascist monarchy on the south pole. And pirates have plastic explosives or something, I dunno. It really didn't make much sense.

Happy and Fun!

Warning: Spoilers
In Search Of Santa is a cute, short movie based for children around the ages of 6-10. It is a fun movie because of its adventure, music and comedy. Of course I am 13 and only got the movie because I am Hils Biggest Fan but I still found it funny. Hilary and Haytlie, plus other cast did great jobs as voicing this movie. **May Contain Spoilers** The animation in this film was OKAY. But it seemed like you were playing a video game! But that doesn't matter as the animation is still fun. So overall, it is based for younger children but if you are 13, like me, and watch the film you can watch out for the funny parts in the movie that children wouldn't point out. (Haylies Voice!!!) Overall, 7/10

Utterly charmless

Terrible animation, awful script with phoned-in vocal performances. The whole enterprise feels completely without soul. My young children chose it as Christmas is approaching and we wanted to watch something festive. The kids (4 & 3) were bored within minutes, probably due to each character appearing to be animated as if they were robots. This is a total waste of time, and an insult to children's intelligence.

Warning: Spoilers
Well as I am 15, I didn't think too highly of this movie, I bought it because I'm a big Duff fan, but to be honest with you, I only gave it 7 out of 10 because of Hilary duff and Haylie duff being in it, otherwise it would get a 4 or 5, it's a really fun kids cartoon, but that's just it, it's just a kids cartoon. I can't complain much as it isn't meant for my age group.

The good side of this film is that it has a warm feeling to it, being a Christmas movie, and it being a movie about friendship. To sum the movie up, it's about two penguins, Crystal (hilary duff) who's the sweet and innocent penguin, who is to become the next queen as she is the oldest between her and her sister, and Lucinda who hatched second, she gets jealous of Crystal but when Crystal goes 'in search of Santa' Lucinda tries to stop her, but ends up having to go with her. They have no other choice but to stick together as they face pirates and big predators..and an annoying little elf. They set aside their differences and become friends. . . . If I'm making this sound like some sort of spectacular movie, don't stop reading just yet. It has some bad quality scenes, the animation isn't all that good in some parts of the film, but that doesn't bother everyone right?, and who said it was meant to be a blockbuster hit anyway?

The best advice I give you is to not take it too seriously, and buy it for your kids, or if you're not a parent, buy it and expect it to be rubbish, then you won't be disappointed.
