Haunting and powerful

I have seen this documentary several times and have studied the question of the origin of the AIDS epidemic for many years. I thought it was actually being conservative for what it could have presented as relevant or in support of Hoopers' theory.

It was riveting to actually see and hear members of the team that made the vaccine in question speak about their experiences and reveal little known evidence about its production. I was shocked at the statement of one famous vaccinologist when asked about its production.

I found myself saying 'Oh my God' at other evidence shown but only briefly touched upon. I think that if you know enough about the subject before seeing this documentary you will likely not view the pandemic and those affected as you did before. Especially, when you ponder the many implications of the evidence presented in the political climate of the times.

Chiling connecting of the dots story about the possible birth of AIDS

This is a careful step by step look at the probability that AIDS started as a disease in chimps and crossed over man in polio vaccine in the late 1950's in Africa. It begins with a story in Rolling Stone back in the late 80's or early 90's that was crucified in the scientific community not because it wasn't possible, rather because it named the wrong monkeys used and attacked a pillar of the research community and then moves on from there to later investigations on the subject which show very clearly that the race to cure polio may have made us the target of something worse. Using the words of those involved as well as the papers and documentary films from the time this is a chilling look at how science can go really wrong and how scientists will circle the wagons to protect one of their own, even in the face of evidence that something is afoot.

I like the calm and unsensational connecting of the dots that is used to lay out the case keeping everything on a level playing field, even at the end where the film makers say flat out that short of ever coming upon a sample of the drug from that time we will never know if this is a source of the HIV/AIDS virus. However there is enough circumstantial evidence to make you reasonably sure that they have gotten things right. (an interesting note is the quoted exchange of letters between competing scientists where one warns that the other that his vaccine appears to be contaminated with an unknown and here to fore never seen before virus, a warning that was completely dismissed).

See this movie since it will open your mind.

Riveting...

To my mind, an additionally disturbing aspect of this deeply enthralling 'theoretical' documentary was that I just caught it by chance at an obscure hour on one of the more obscure, pseudo fringe channels, namely Sundance. Why this documentary is not considered worthy of prime-time airing, allowing a far greater number of the population to see it and draw their own conclusions escapes me. But then again, maybe not.

In essence, was the HIV pandemic created by a fluke accident of tribal rituals or the 'cut hunter' theory, i.e. tribal hunters in central Africa (the Belgian Congo, now Zaire) becoming exposed to contaminated monkey blood containing SIV (Simian Imunodefficency Virus) through cuts or abrasions on themselves, or was this tragedy 'man made' through mass inoculations in Africa of Polio vaccine which had been cultured from monkey tissue contaminated with SIV which, when entering humans turns to HIV.

I could go on and on, but my simple advice would be, make this the next documentary you watch, I was hooked from beginning to end. One of its strengths is the way it puts across all the evidence supporting its key theories in a very matter-of-fact, understated way, hence avoiding slipping into the dangerous arena of 'sensationalist journalism'. It's enthralling, intelligent and, as one may imagine, deeply disturbing. It's a film, I believe, that should be seen by as many people as possible. So why haven't the more mainstream channels picked this up?. Maybe 'who's wearing what' on the Oscars red carpet is still deemed far more important.

The Chimpanzee Holocaust

It is bad enough for the irresponsibility of Science to create a plague that will devastate a species, but it is even worse when the priests of this Church of Science feel it is morally defensible to use man's closest living relative. the Chimpanzee, as a laboratory victim, and to systematically destroy these creatures in Death Camps, far from the scrutiny of society.

This movie represents far more than the excesses that Science will go to; the kind of Science that was practiced in the Nazi Death Camps.

This movie represents nothing less than a Chimpanzee Holocaust.

These scientists should be brought to trial. Science itself must stand before the tribunal of History. I have recorded a DVD of this film. I have found it unavailable for purchase on DVD. The Scientific and Pharmaceutical Community and their army of lawyers are keeping it from the public as much as they can.

DVD recordings can easily be burnt onto VHS, or so I've heard. Someone should do that.

World AIDS Day

In a small recognition of World AIDS Day, I spent some time watching this outstanding documentary about the origin of the disease.

There is no debate as to where and when HIV-1 originated, but there has been some discussion as to exactly how.

Was it naturally occurring, or did we somehow do it ourselves? This film answers that question and leaves little doubt as to the origin of these terrible disease.

The answer will certainly surprise you and cause you to wonder about the way we are all treated as guinea pigs in the name of science and profits.

Monkey were used most places.

This documentary was very well done, and argued its case very well. I would like to have seen more on the genetics behind HIV and the known versions of SIV, but there are, apparently, not that many samples of SIV from the region, and new wildlife protection laws make it difficult to get more.

However... One of the other comments here asked why HIV did not appear early in the US if all vaccines were prepared using chimps. The documentary makes it clear that:

1) Most of the polio vaccines were prepared in a monkey serum. 2) Only the OPV used in the Congo was prepared using chimp serum, and it is from chimp SIV that we got HIV. Now there are some that claim SIV became HIV through hunting, but the OPV theory seems much more plausible.

As for why it's important to know about this now... We are still using animal serums for vaccines. We could use artificial serum, but it is more costly.

Interesting

Origins of AIDS, The (2003)

*** (out of 4)

Thought provoking documentary that tries to link monkey's used to fight polio in Africa with the outbreak of AIDS. I remember when the original article in Rolling Stone brought this subject up and I also remember a lot of scientists blowing the theory out of the water but this documentary does a great job at showing how some might believe that the disease got started as a cure against polio. I read somewhere that this theory has been proved wrong since this documentary was released but I'm not certain on that. As for this film, there's a lot of deep and rich detail given on the history of the disease and what was going on in Africa during the time of the polio outbreak. I'm not sure where the truth lies but this is a fascinating documentary either way.

HIV origin proven,100%.

The polio vaccine in 1957 Congo ,did start the HIV epidemic..This is proved in the epic novel..(The River by Edward Hooper) It is a fine piece of work and 1000 pages long..I defy anyone to read this book and not be 100% sure..You will get plenty of dis- information on this subject and it will be junk science, gibberish..This is because an experimental vaccine was used on Africans who didn't even suffer from polio..The "bleach' virus was a western problem...Which brings us to the reality ,and why this is covered up in the west..For a village in the Congo to get an outbreak of polio.,a well job was undertaken..That this was population control is certain as many, many elites want de-population in a way I cant describe here.... A group of elites met in Holland 1954 ,the bandenberg group,3 years later comes HIV....In 1978,21 years later a hep B vaccine in new york started the American contagion, also pop control against gays ans drug addict..Now order that book online as it is hidden from the general public and see for yourself .
