A musical version of O. Henry's famous Christmas story.

This was a musical version of the short story "The Gift of the Magi" written by O. Henry. Jim and Della Dillingham are a young married couple who are very much in love with each other but are extremely poor. One Christmas, Della wants to give Jim a present so she decides to buy him a chain for his much-prized fob watch. In order to do this, she sells her beautiful long hair to a wig-maker. Meanwhile, Jim has sold his watch to buy Della a set of combs for her hair. Come Christmas day, both are at first devastated by the sacrifice of the other which has nullified their gifts. Then they realise that the sacrifice each has made is a much greater gift because it truly demonstrates their deep love for one another.
