Rhythmic, interesting and well animated
bob the moo20 December 2004
As part of the films produced for channel 4 under the banner of "animate!", this film looks at the production of twins. While the animation plays underneath, voices from mothers and children play over the top as we have the science of twins explained to us as well as the reality of giving birth to twins. From the very start it is easy to get into this film because the music is so very good. It has a flow and a rhythm to it that sucks you in and uses the dialogue really well – repeating phrases as part of the beat and being soft enough to make the women's voices feel part of the music.

The dialogue itself is interesting enough to listen to and I do feel like I learn something about the formation of twins – even if it was only the scientific names for the different types. The insight from the mothers is not earth shattering but it is personal and well delivered and I enjoyed it as a result. The animation itself is very good and is married to the music in a very convincing fashion – having the same sort of ebb and flow to it. It mixes all sort of stuff and it really does enough to keep you interested.

Overall this is a very good animation that mixes dialogue, music and visuals very well to produce a film that is lovely to watch and deserves to be seen by a wider audience than just those who actually make the effort to see this sort of thing.
