As a film reporter I used to cover Sam Sherman's distribution company back in the '80s. It's nice to know that the organization Independent-International still exists 20 years later, conjuring up obscure movies like BABES IN THE WOODS for a whole new video generation.
Mild in the extreme, it is generally MOS with cutesy narration, set at a resort/nudist camp. Where there is dialog, the sound synch on the DVD is way off.
Three beauties, including Herschell Gordon Lewis's collaborator Vicki Miles, are presented from a voyeur's point-of-view, giving us a chance to check out their sizeable, bare breasts. It's extreme tease time, with the foam in a bubble bath hiding any south-of-the-border nudity.
Similarly, when the gals bathe at a waterfall they are quite careful to hide their genital areas from the camera's view. Probably the cutest scene is when they hitchhike naked, quite an improvement on Claudette Colbert's Oscar-winning technique for Capra.
Scenic travelogue visuals, including a light plane ride, are pleasant enough, but the film's overwrought narration (supposedly coming from a heroine's dead husband) is badly dated and makes it hard to sit through.
