Published in 1848, the classic novel follows the lives of Becky, Emmy Sedley and their friends and families during and after the Napoleonic Wars. The new, seven-part Amazon Studios/ITV co-production, per Deadline, promises to chronicle Becky’s “attempts to claw her way out of poverty and scale the heights of English Society,” unspooling her “story of villainy, crime, merriment, lovemaking, jilting, laughing, cheating, fighting and dancing.” Filming is expected to start in September.

The Whitechapel season three finale included a few surprises, a smattering of romance and a plentiful supply of blood and guts. The idea that the escaped looney Mantus had been preying upon the unsuspecting folk of the East End always seemed a bit too obvious for a Whitechapel script so I wasn’t hugely surprised to find out that someone else was behind the killing spree. The storyline does make you think twice though about fobbing off grumpy old gits when they make complaints.
Lydia Leonard (Jericho) was really good as the suspicious seeming but ultimately tragic Morgan Lamb. Rupert Penry-Jones fans will recognize her as the girl who played opposite him in the 39 Steps and based upon their chemistry in this episode it wouldn’t be a big surprise...

After the rumor that the very cool BBC show Primeval got the cancel boot we now have an early Christmas present saying the show returns for a Season 4 on January 1st, 2011 in the UK and here in the Us. This makes me happy and we all know we need to keep me happy! Who's all pumped about the show returning? From the Press Release:
New Year’s Day marks a new beginning for acclaimed series "Primeval", when it premieres in the Us on BBC America, the same day as its UK broadcast. Returning to screens thanks to a unique international collaboration, including new co-producer BBC America, the seven-episode Season 4 delivers ambitious adventures and opens the franchise to new audiences. From the creators of "Walking with Dinosaurs" and "Survivors", "Primeval" sees the arrival of new faces and headquarters along with the surprise return of some notable guest stars from earlier seasons.

We're well aware that the UK's awesomely fun TV series "Primeval" is more sci-fi than horror, but damnit, it's full of dinosaurs and tons of other scary creatures so while we'll not be covering it full-time here on DC, we do want to make our readers aware of its return to the airwaves in Both the UK and the Us simultaneously on January 1, 2011.

Chicago – Who knew the end of the world would be so dull? BBC America makes a rare misstep this weekend with the debut of “Survivors,” an ensemble show with a strong cast and timely concept but self-serious writing that rarely clicks into anything entertaining in its premiere. With cliched dialogue and awkward pacing, “Survivors” improves drasticallly in future episodes but never lives up to its potential.
TV Rating: 2.5/5.0
Updating the ’70s BBC mini-series “Survivors” for a generation terrified of Sars and swine flu was actually a brilliant idea. The very structure of the concept should work with both the excellent caliber of science fiction often available on BBC America in programs like “Torchwood,” “Doctor Who,” and “Primeval” and should deliver for fans of ensemble mysteries like “Lost”. Perhaps that’s why “Survivors” feels so generic.
