&quot;Night Journey&quot; is a 55-year-old black-and-white film made by Austrian Alexander Hammid. The director scored several nominations with the Academy for his short film (documentary) work, so I hoped for something good, but unfortunately this is not what it turned out. Basically, this is a half-hour film that shows us the story of Oedipus and his mother, the latter being played by multiple Emmy-nominee Martha Graham. I have to say watching this stage play dance show without voices on a screen does kill all the magic if there ever has any been to it. Not recommended and I recommend to watch something like this rather at your local theater and not on a screen. Not works as a medium for that matter. Watch something else.

Night Journey

Dance doesn&#39;t easily lend itself to screen I don&#39;t think, but this works pretty well, in particular when the chorus are also dancing, so a solid 8 from me. ..... And always good to see a different interpretation of Sophocles!<br/><br/>Martha Graham was an innovator in dance and was apparently well into her 60s when this is recorded, which makes her performance even more impressive. So, if you can find it do watch - I hope you think worth it!<br/><br/>And, if you want to watch more dance on screen I would really recommend Woolf Works ... great dancing with Allesandro Ferri, and also wonderful music by Max Richter.
