Ausiello: I’m hearing that a late fall episode — most likely the Nov. 9 installment — will be very Beckett-lite. As in she will, at best, maybe-possibly be in one scene. ABC declined to comment, but my guess is Stana Katic had an “out” in her contract so she could be here.

Exclusive: Godkiller, the post-apocalyptic comic series from Black Mask Studios, is hurtling toward the screen as a new trilogy of animated features that will be self-financed and produced by the upstart publisher and transmedia co. The saga of a teenage orphan and an escaped slavegirl journeying through a post-apocalyptic wasteland first debuted in 2008 as a self-published underground comic that cultivated a devoted cult following. The comic is now heading into its second printing after debuting last week via Black Mask Studios.
The Godkiller films are being directed and scripted by Matt Pizzolo, who co-created the comic with Anna Muckcracker Wieszczyk and Ben Templesmith. Back in 2010 Pizzolo’s Halo-8 shingle put out an experimental illustrated feature titled Godkiller: Walk Among Us that debuted digitally and on home vid featuring the voices of Lance Henriksen, AFI’s Davey Havok, Danielle Harris, Bill Moseley, and Lydia Lunch.

Last week saw the release of the second season of the brilliant The Walking Dead, one of the best and most talked-about television programmes currently on the air – and about to kick off with its anticipated third season.
And this week brings with it the release of one of the year’s most successful films in the form of The Hunger Games, very much one of the biggest blockbusters of 2012, beginning what is set to become an immense franchise in the years to come.
There are a lot of films coming to the shelves this week, so I shall press on.
My picks of the week:
Gary Ross’ The Hunger Games & Lasse Hallström’s Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.
The Office: An American Workplace – Season 7 & Boardwalk Empire – Season 2.
And, of course, the Blu-ray release of Steven Spielberg’s Jaws.

The road from concept to comic to DVD/Blu-ray has been a long, rocky one for the illustrated film Godkiller, mainly because demand has been so high that Halo-8 Entertainment simply hasn't been able to keep up. To make up for the postponement of the Blu-ray release to a still yet to be determined date, company President Matt Pizzolo (who also wrote and directed the film) has announced that purchasers of the standard-def DVD will be entitled to a free Godkiller Blu-ray.
From the Press Release:
"We're not trying to double-dip on the DVD and Blu-ray. The hi-def version is being delayed due to unforeseen circumstances, but we want Godkiller fans to feel confident getting the film now and knowing we'll take care of them when the Blu-ray comes out," explained Pizzolo.

A Conversation with Writer-Director Matt Pizzolo & Actresses Danielle Harris, Tiffany Shepis, Katie Nisa, and Nicki Clyne about the creation of new illustrated film from Halo 8.
Jason Anders/Fangoria: So let's start with the creation of Godkiller- where did the idea first originate, and also, what were the first drafts of the graphic novel like? Were there any major changes made?
Matt Pizzolo: I first started tooling around with the world of Godkiller when I was on tour in Europe for my first film Threat. While visiting churches and museums, I was really struck by the juxtaposition of pagan art and Christian art. Especially in Italy and France, there's this enduring legacy of holy war in the art itself... I was fascinated by how religions and mythologies and cultures compete for disciples through art. And I was also struck by the similarities between Vatican City and Disneyland.

In April we reported on the first clip for this incredible looking dystopic scifi mix media venture which looks mostly like a comic. It mixes unforgiving brutality and quantum physics? I'm so in. Limited theatrical release coming September 29, 2009 followed by a DVD release.
Godkiller takes place in a dark future after economic collapse, after nuclear holy war, and after Earth is colonized by alien races. Tommy and his kid sister Lucy live in an orphanage in one of the few remaining city-states, but Lucy is critically ill and desperately in need of a new heart. Tommy's odyssey to find a new heart for his sister begins when he follows an organ-stealing prostitute named Halfpipe out of the city-state and into the savage border-land known as Outer City. Godkiller mixes unforgiving brutality, quantum physics, conspiracy theory, and secret history for an iconoclastic hero's journey like none before it. This "illustrated film...

"The ladies of Godkiller are ferocious mixes of strength, sexuality, and survivalism... it's a pretty tough world Anna & I created and these characters need brave, powerful voices. I couldn't be happier with the casting of Danielle, Katie, and Nicki, each one has a bold and unique personality that channels a rich depth and humanity into the film," said Pizzolo.
