ESPN has been working toward a deal with the league for months, though it’s still unclear what NFL Media content will continue if a pact is reached.
It looks like ESPN is ready for even more football. The channel has been home to “Monday Night Football” since 2006, but it appears that ESPN is about to add a much greater selection of NFL content. A report from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk indicates that the league is drawing close to an agreement with ESPN that will see the league gain an equity stake in the family of networks, and in exchange, ESPN will take over operations of NFL Network.
Key Details: ESPN and the NFL were reported to be in “advanced talks” for a deal in January. Disney has been seeking minority partners for ESPN, partially to help fund its future streaming ambitions. Having more NFL content could help...

Rich Eisen is starting one of the biggest weeks of his year.
The 2012 NFL Draft begins Thursday (April 26) with coverage on both Espn and the NFL Network, respectively the veteran sportscaster's former and current television homes. Eisen has gotten to New York City a few days early to prepare for the NFL Network telecasts, but as he knows from experience, that probably doesn't cover all that will ensue in the selecting.
"It's just so much fun," the "NFL Total Access" and "NFL GameDay Morning" host tells Zap2it. "I'm a native New Yorker, so getting to work in that art-deco jewel in the middle of Manhattan called Radio City Music Hall is just a dream come true. It's awesome, and it's what I call the end of the talent-evaluation process and the beginning of the regenerative process of the NFL, where the new blood comes in.

When his Contagion lead Matt Damon told the LATimes a few weeks ago that Steven Soderbergh planned to retire, it naturally got people’s attention. Now the writer and director has publicly made his thoughts on the issue clear, as well as giving us new details on that film and the forthcoming Haywire.
First, the whole retirement issue. Talking to, of all people, Rich Eisen of NFL Total Access (via GordonandtheWhale), he jokingly stated that him and Damon were both “very drunk” when he made the comments that the actor later quoted to the press, but an inebriated state doesn’t mean that the comments didn’t have some truth to them. While he didn’t come right out and say that he was retiring, he made it clear that he planned to “wind it down,” although for him that means he still has some movies left in him. In...

Director Says He's Absolutely Sincere About Retirement, Wants To Do 'Liberace' & 'Man From U.N.C.L.E' First Let's keep part of this brief. We reported that Steven Soderbergh's upcoming spy action-thriller, "Haywire," starring Mma fighter Gina Carano, was hitting theaters April 22, 2011 late last year. In case you had any doubts, and or to be Nikki Finke about it, the director himself confirmed that date in a podcast with NFL Total Access host Rich Eisen (yes, the filmmaker is also a major pigskin addict). While most of the conversation revolves around football (sorry cinephiles), Eisen does take the last few…...
