Halo Infinite is the first open-world game in the series, and its development cycle reflects that. Taking 6 years to develop on 343’s brand-new Slipspace engine, Infinite ended up releasing in 2021, after a year-long delay from its initial planned release.
Going the open-world route was a big point of debate for the return of Master Chief, as well as Infinite‘s unconventional direction as a “spiritual reboot” built on a smaller scale compared to other open-world titles. However, here’s why that might have been the very element that saved the franchise.

Right now, Far Cry is currently one of Ubisoft’s longest-running franchises and is still getting new games every couple of years. Ubisoft tries to rediscover it; they try to give gamers a world that is worth exploring and characters worth interacting with. This legacy of having interesting characters, specifically an interesting villain, came from Far Cry 2.
Back then, it was the pinnacle of what was possible if developers invested time in some exciting new technologies. Dunia Engine was a one-of-a-kind game engine; Jackal was a one-of-a-kind villain; and that game’s world was unlike anything players had explored before. But its director explains that the inspiration for that came from a very unexpected place.

The latest and sixth installment in the popular Halo series, Halo Infinite, was released on December 8, 2021, for Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Before the release of the game, there were many concerns over its gameplay as the previous game in the series, Halo 5: Guardians, was scrutinized for its story, writing, and ending. Fortunately, Halo Infinite was a success as the game was well-received by fans as well as critics.

Gaming franchises have rough phases to deal with, it’s common. Call of Duty happens to be among them now, and the so-called Black Ops Gulf War should be its savior.
After the poor reception of Modern Warfare 3, fans are hoping they don’t have to face the same scenario as with the latest installment. While open combat missions in the game caught the players off guard, the backlash from the community caught developers off guard.

Watch Dogs: Legion was no doubt a very ambitious video game in itself. The idea that it sold to all the fans of the franchise was pretty simple yet unique; players could control numerous characters rather than just one protagonist. Thanks to its perma-death mechanic, no character in this game lived forever, and anyone walking the streets as an Npc had the potential to be the next hero.
Yet, the game faced mixed responses from critics as well as longtime fans of this short-lived franchise. Watch Dogs: Legion could not reach the heights of success it set out for. There were a bunch of reasons for this failure. Fans did not care for the feature Ubisoft was selling so hard.

Video games are evolving at a rapid rate. Changing from linear experiences to dynamic ones, thanks to games like Helldivers 2. Other things that have been increasingly implemented in video games are the moral implications that shape gameplay. Some suggest Ubisoft would bring something similar to Far Cry 7, changing the franchise for the better.
They had a chance of doing it years ago with Rainbow Six: Patriots, but that was scrapped in favor of Siege. Afterward, they tried implementing this in a number of their games, but in a very small way. There were some choices in Assassin’s Creed games; even Far Cry games had those, but they did not change the output drastically. But now things would supposedly be a bit different. One must say that if they have decided to bring this change to Far Cry 7, they can also bring an incredible new feature from Rise of the Ronin.

Far Cry is a popular video game series that, like more and more these days, sometimes opts for inviting real actors to play its characters. After Cyberpunk 2077 proved the concept with Keanu Reeves and Idris Elba once again, no one was surprised at the recent rumor that Cillian Murphy would portray the main villain in Far Cry 7, and this “news” flooded the Internet like there was no tomorrow.
Where did this “leak” come from and how was it debunked?
Far Cry 7 x Cillian Murphy: Rumor Origin
On April 20, famous French-speaking YouTuber and streamer j0nathan posted a peculiar sharade on his X (formerly Twitter) account. The post contained four images — Cillian Murphy, a bomb with a 72-hour timer, a giant crab, and number 7 with a tropical backdrop — and was titled, “If nothing changes between now and then.”
This post started a massive wave of speculations — or, rather, just one speculation.

With news surrounding Far Cry 7 starting to finally be unveiled, the time that Ubisoft has properly stepped up may be upon us. Just recently, a credible leaker revealed who the next villain of the series may be played by, and if this turns out to be true, Vaas Montenegro will have some serious competition.
Ubisoft has been having a pretty great run lately, especially with the recently released Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Along with that, Assassin’s Creed Mirage was also a success, so it’s safe to say the company is heading in a better direction overall. Regardless, it seems like the next villain in the company’s long-running first-person shooter franchise is going to be a game changer.

After one of 2023’s biggest blockbuster films, Cillian Murphy may just be starring in one of gaming’s future hits.

Although the last installment in the series didn’t receive the greatest reviews, Far Cry 7 is still a title that has the potential to turn things around for the franchise. The series has been one of the developer’s signature franchises, enjoying highs with its third installment and mixed lows with its more recent entries. But Far Cry has a history of having memorable villains, and their impact becomes even stronger when they are portrayed by familiar Hollywood actors.
It seems like in Far Cry 7, the Hollywood A-lister, who recently won an Oscar for his portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer in the Christopher Nolan-directed film, will be following in the footsteps of Giancarlo Esposito and Michael Mando.

Far Cry 7 is one of the most sought-after releases, but the doubt lies in how high the odds are for it to materialize. Despite being little known to many, the inception of the Far Cry series can be traced back to 2004, when Crytek, a German game developer, launched the first installment. The company was founded by the Yerli brothers: Cevat, Avni, and Faruk. However, after the initial Far Cry game, Crytek ventured into other areas of game development. They also experienced bankruptcy in 2016. While they might not be as prolific as they once were, they are still

Over the past few years, the number of games focusing on co-op multiplayer format has considerably increased. The growing popularity of multiplayer could somewhere be credited to the way recent games like Helldivers 2 and Diablo 4 have presented the format.
Far Cry 7
Naturally, a lot of upcoming games will look to adopt this formula and attract a greater audience, including the anticipated Far Cry game. Speaking of the Far Cry franchise at large, co-op is not alien to the series. In fact, it has been regularly featured in multiple games. However, there is a high chance that developer Ubisoft could expand even further on the multiplayer element in the upcoming Far Cry 7 game.
Far Cry 7 to have a rumored Countdown Timer
One of the most buzzing rumors about Far Cry 7 is the inclusion of a 72-hour in-game countdown timer. This timer is believed to bring more ramifications to multiplayer gameplay as compared to single-player.

Fans were anticipating an announcement from Ubisoft about their much-rumored title Far Cry during its June 2023 Showcase. However, that did not happen. Nonetheless, that did not stop the rumor mill from spinning.
Far Cry 7
The last Far Cry game came out in 2021, and it took players back to its origins with a tropical Island setting called Yara. Far Cry 6 had various mechanics inspired by Far Cry 3, which is regarded as one of the best open-world games of all time. If rumors are to be believed the seventh installment of the game could take inspiration from Far Cry 2.

Back when the era of open-world Fps was just kicking off during the early-to-mid-2000s, Ubisoft’s Far Cry had a huge role to play. The game series’ exotic locations and Fps gameplay smashed records at launch, announcing to the world that publisher and developer Ubisoft had arrived in the Fps space.

Far Cry 7 has a tentative release window of fall 2025 and fans and players are hoping that the game takes care of some of the repetitive issues of the franchise. The open-world games produced by Ubisoft have a couple of things in common – they boast of huge and explorable open worlds and the Npc interactions are repetitive which do away with player immersion in the game.
However, with the launch of its new AI tool, Ubisoft may finally be en route to putting those issues behind them. The new AI tool by Ubisoft’s R&d department La Forge, Ghostwriter, is capable of helping scriptwriters with the immersion mechanism.
The AI-generated ‘neo-NPCs’ might just be the answer to making Far Cry 7 a totally immersive and lived-in experience for all gamers.
Ghostwriter AI To Revitalize the Far Cry 7 Experience
One telltale sign of the Far Cry franchise has been its repetitive Npc interactions.

Far Cry 7, the next entry in the Far Cry series, has to escape the rut the franchise has found itself in. Some entries, like Far Cry 3, have left an undeniable mark on the industry, but recent titles haven’t quite captured its magic.
As the series progressed over the years, a nagging feeling emerged among players – Far Cry was becoming repetitive, failing to introduce substantial innovation. Since the release of 2021’s Far Cry 6, Ubisoft has remained tight-lipped about the franchise’s future, but a huge leak from 2023 hints at a unique mechanic for the next game that may breed controversy.

Far Cry is now a franchise that has seen twenty years of life. The first game in the series “Far Cry” was launched back in March 2004. Over the years, it has evolved from being a vibrant open-world shooter with stealth elements to games set in expansive open worlds with some light role-playing mechanics at its core.
While this series has largely remained unchanged over the years, it has still gathered a large enough fan following to justify six mainline installments and a bunch of spin-offs too. And almost all of these games have been successful. Now that this series is celebrating 20 years of its inception, Ubisoft and Sony have partnered to give their fans something very special.

Ubisoft’s free-roam sci-fi action-adventure game series Watch Dogs has received mixed reviews from critics and players alike. The game did have an interesting premise, but some felt it didn’t break out of the Ubisoft open-world formula enough to stand out among other games like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry.
It seems the potential of the series has been noticed by people outside of the gaming community as well. It’s common for popular franchises to get adapted into other media, and the same is happening with a live-action movie for Watch Dogs. But is Ubisoft taking on more than it can handle?
The Watch Dogs Movie will be Created by New Regency
A Watch Dogs adaptation may not be the best idea for Ubisoft currently.
Deadline was the first to report on this matter. The movie will reportedly feature Sophie Wilde, who debuted in A24’s Talk to Me...

Ubisoft’s Far Cry franchise has carved a dominant niche for itself in the open-world Fps genre. The compelling villains and expansive world design made it popular, and while the early 2004 titles established the core gameplay loop, it was 2012’s Far Cry 3 that truly catapulted the series into the limelight.
This game wasn’t just about refined shooting mechanics. Its captivating story was what made it memorable. However, a substantial chunk of the credit for Far Cry 3‘s success undoubtedly belongs to Vaas Montenegro, the unforgettable villain masterfully portrayed by Michael Mando. Here’s why the upcoming Far Cry 7 should take a page out of his book.

Vaas’ impact transcends the confines of Far Cry 3. He’s not only the best villain in the series, but a venerable all-timer in the gaming hall of fame.

The Far Cry series’ ticket to popularity was its captivating (and sometimes unstable) villains. Among them, fans widely regard Vaas Montenegro from Far Cry 3 and Pagan Min from Far Cry 4 as two of the best in the franchise.
While both villains undoubtedly make a lasting impact, they approach their roles very differently, leading to heated debate among fans to try and determine which of them is better. Deciding that is no easy task, but we reckoned it was worth a shot.

Ubisoft seems to have fallen into the habit of repeating the same thing over and over, just like the villain of their own game, Far Cry 3, once said. He described the habit of doing the same thing over and over again as insanity. The irony is in the fact that whenever Ubisoft sees something get successful, they go about repeating it till people get bored of it, and there’s a fear that Far Cry 7 would fall into the same trap.
Ever since the launch and moderate performance of Far Cry 6, the developer publisher has been working pretty hard. They have refrained from announcing or even talking about Far Cry 7, but some recent reports have suggested that it would be a very different game this time around.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora invites players to the world of Pandora, exploring regions and other biomes of the hostile world and immersing themselves further as they take on the role of one of the Na’vi. Taking inspiration from the films, this game takes place at different points from the movies, years before Jake Sully landed and defeated the Rda occupation and mostly in the year 2169 which was 15 years after the battle of the Hallelujah Mountains.
The beauty of Pandora is truly breathtaking, especially at night when the planet is dark and stars are far more visible. The developers took their jobs way too seriously and took it up by a notch by putting the stars in the constellation of Centaurus, also known as Alpha Centauri. This adds more detail to the planet’s night sky, making it even more realistic and immersive. James Cameron’s Avatar has touched and...

When Ubisoft launched Far Cry 3 back in 2012, they showed a bunch of things about that game. Its visuals were incredible, its combat mechanics looked fun, and it even had stealth. But one thing that stood out the most was none other than Vaas Montenegro. This character was given life by the incredible Michael Mando, and he played it in such a manner that it lives in the minds of many people to this day.
From that moment on, charismatic villains became a thing for this series of games. They would connect to the protagonist in some way, and then they would wreak havoc on each other’s lives until the game ended. But after several games, this idea has become stale, yet it looks like Far Cry 7 will repeat this same idea once again.

2024 marks 20 years since Ubisoft’s Far Cry series entered the fray. The franchise’s memorable antagonists were one of the key ingredients to its success. Each game boasts a unique villain, from Far Cry 4‘s ruthlessly charming Pagan Min to the fanatical Seed family of Far Cry 5. Ubisoft has consistently delivered captivating villains in its Far Cry games, but how have they fared over the years? And with two new Far Cry projects on the horizon, which prior villain should they strive to surpass? We take a look back at every Far Cry antagonist, and see who comes out on top.

The Far Cry franchise is a core pillar of Ubisoft’s library, but it’s fallen flat in recent years. 2021’s Far Cry 6 was commercially successful, but critically mixed. The series faces mounting (and valid) criticism from fans and critics alike, pointing out the monotony of Ubisoft’s open-world formula, which is more or less unchanged since Far Cry 3.
A change of course for Far Cry is undeniably necessary, and potential solutions may be brewing in the form of two rumored projects currently in active development at Ubisoft Montreal. These projects could offer the refresh the franchise desperately needs.

Insider Gaming is reporting that the 2024 Call of Duty game (rumored to be titled Black Ops: Gulf War) will feature an open-world campaign that is shaping up to be far more substantial than the series’ recent single-player adventures.
According to the report, Gulf War will expand upon the “Open Combat” scenarios seen in the recent Modern Warfare 3 remake. The big difference is that Gulf War‘s campaign is reportedly being designed from the start with that open-world format in mind. Among other things, that means that the campaign’s world will likely be much larger than what we’ve seen in previous Call of Duty games. Specifically, this report suggests that the game will drop you into a Far Cry-like environment complete with vehicles, fast travel, and other popular genre mechanics. However, the mode may still feature more linear narrative-based missions closer to what we’ve seen in previous Call of Duty campaigns.

It’s easy to underestimate just how good James Cameron is at what he does, at least until someone tries to copy his homework, like when Michael Bay set out to turn Pearl Harbor into the next Titanic. Now, with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, we have a piece of media trying to do the same but within Cameron’s own universe. And to the extent that the game doesn’t have you play as Jake Sully and allows you to explore Pandora on your own—that is, the experience isn’t guided by Cameron’s directorial hand—the attempt isn’t without merit.
It helps that Frontiers of Pandora ably captures the breathtakingly vast biodiversity of Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water, as well as channels their sense of expansiveness. But even as much as Cameron’s epic films can be taken to task for not building a strong...

“The Avatar Blues.” This semi-tongue-in-cheek term comes from a 2010 CNN article about a startlingly large group of fans who fell into a deep depression after seeing James Cameron’s Avatar in theaters. These people struggled to cope with the reality that they would never be able to actually step foot in the dazzling world of Pandora, with one person sharing this confession on a popular Avatar fan forum: “When I woke up this morning after watching Avatar for the first time yesterday, the world seemed … gray.”

Dishonored honored the legacy of games like Thief, Prey played as if it was a modern take on System Shock, and Deathloop showed they could take these ideas and concepts and apply them to an original approach, damn near mixing them with a rogue-like. At this point, an Arkane Studios release has a certain level of pedigree and expectation, lending an air of excitement to their latest project, Redfall.
Redfall is a co-op looter shooter in which players pick one of four characters with their own unique personalities and abilities. They then enter Redfall, Massachusetts where a cataclysmic event has caused the town to be overrun with vampires and the sun permanently blocked out.

Historically, horror movies have tended to have lower budgets than films in other genres. A large part of this is probably due to the origins of the genre. Slasher films become something of a cultural phenomenon in the 1970s, when movies like "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" and "Halloween" in many ways revolutionized the film industry. Such films were usually made on the cheap and relied on clever practical effects and location shooting to deliver the onscreen goods. But what really made these films so influential is that from these modest origins, they killed at the box office, revolutionizing the genre as we know it today.
Since the 1970s, movies of all genres have gotten more expensive to make, and not all of these films can earn back their production costs. While horror has remained an extremely popular genre both in the States and worldwide, scary movies are just as...

Uwe Boll, it seems, is back.
The notorious German director of Rampage, Postal and Far Cry has wrapped production on his new film, First Shift, a New York cop drama set over an intense 12-hour shift of a veteran NYPD officer and his rookie partner. It is Boll’s first U.S. film in five years, since 2016’s Rampage: President Down.
Gino Anthony Pesi (Shades of Blue) plays the veteran cop, with Kristen Renton (Sons of Anarchy) as the rookie. First Shift shot on location in New York and is currently in postproduction at Tunnel Post in Los Angeles.
Unlike many of the films in his oeuvre, from Seed (2006) and Postal (2007) to the Rampage trilogy — movies that indulged in extreme, graphic onscreen bloodshed — First Shift, Boll says, will show his kinder, gentler side.
“It’s an action movie, and there’s a side plot involving the mob, but it’s...
