‘Blood, Sweat, Tears… and More Blood’ Documents the Making of Indie Horror-Comedy ‘Cannibal Comedian’ [Trailer]
Image
Screambox Exclusive Cannibal Comedian has spent 10 consecutive weeks on the Bloody Disgusting-powered streaming service’s Top 10 list and is available on Blu-ray and VHS from Scream Team Releasing.

Now, pull back the flesh—er, curtain—on the indie horror-comedy with the trailer and poster for Blood, Sweat, Tears… and More Blood: The Making of Cannibal Comedian.

Directed and produced by Sean Haitz (Cannibal Comedian) and Ryan James (Chasing Chasing Amy) and edited by Dan Ballester, the feature-length documentary chronicles the brutal and often hilarious journey of a skeleton crew that ventured into the desert to make their dream project just weeks before the global pandemic forced them to rethink the entire production.

Fittingly, art imitates life as the doc mirrors the spirit of Cannibal Comedian — the story of a psychopathic cannibal who is fed up with his lack of ambition and takes a stab at stand-up comedy in an attempt...

Ryan Cultrera
Interview with genre icon Ken Foree: Dawn of the Dead, The Devil’s Rejects, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3, & more
Ryan Cultrera
The horror genre is best known for its “Final Girls,” and JoBlo’s own Ryan Cultrera was recently able to catch up with several popular Final Girls at the Ve Neill’s Vampire Weekend convention in California. This week, we’ve shared Ryan’s interviews with Lisa Wilcox from the Elm Street franchise, Christine Elise from the Child’s Play / Chucky franchise, and Melanie Kinnaman from Friday the 13th: A New Beginning. Now, Ryan wraps up this interview series by having a conversation with one of the horror genre’s greatest male heroes – Ken Foree.

Foree has over 100 screen acting credits to his name and, in recent years, has been a regular in Rob Zombie movies, showing up in the likes of The Devil’s Rejects, Halloween, and The Lords of Salem – but before he teamed up with Zombie, he was known to genre fans for playing heroic characters in George A. Romero...

Christine Elise
Interview: Catching up with Christine Elise of Child’s Play 2, Cult of Chucky, and the Chucky TV series
Christine Elise
Christine Elise has shared the screen with Chucky the killer doll several times over the decades, first appearing as the heroine Kyle in Child’s Play 2 back in 1990, then reprising the role for Cult of Chucky (the seventh film in the series) in 2017 and multiple episodes of the Chucky TV show, which ran for three seasons, from 2021 to 2024. JoBlo’s own Ryan Cultrera was able to catch up with Elise at the Ve Neill’s Vampire Weekend convention in California last month and talked with her about her experiences working with Chucky and interacting with the horror community – and you can find out what she had to say by checking out the interview video embedded above.

In addition to her work with Chucky, Elise may be best known for playing Emily Valentine in 12 episodes of Beverly Hills, 90210, a version of herself in the meta revival BH90210, and Harper Tracy in 15 episodes of ER.

'New York Ninja' the '80s Martial Arts Gem Is Streaming Free on Tubi
Image
The '80s are a beloved era for many cinema fans. It is often considered the golden age of horror, the decade defined by coming-of-age films like Stand by Me and The Breakfast Club. The action genre is no different, having delivered such classics as Die Hard, The Terminator, and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Still, another side of the '80s has aged like fine wine: camp. And when it comes to camp, '80s action delivers some of the most memorable and entertaining films.

New York Ninja embodies '80s camp, unlike any other film, with its fascinating history — discovered, remastered, and released decades after it was initially shot — and its delivery of absurd action in a dystopian New York landscape. The best part? This unearthed gem is currently streaming for free on Tubi.

‘Ed Kemper’ Trailer – True Crime Horror from the Writer of ‘Ted Bundy’ & ‘Ed Gein’
Image
In the early 2000s, Stephen Johnston penned a series of indie horror movies chronicling the true crimes of serial killers, including Ed Gein, Ted Bundy, The Hillside Strangler, and Starkweather.

Johnston returns to familiar territory with Ed Kemper, which he co-wrote with director Chad Ferrin.

The film tells the chilling true story of Edmund Kemper, a manipulative serial killer known as The Co-Ed Killer whose charm hid a dark obsession with murder, revenge, and his tormented past.

Brandon Kirk stars as Kemper, who murdered his grandparents at age 15 and, after being paroled for the crime, killed eight women — including his mother — between 1972 and 1973.

Susan Priver, Brinke Stevens (The Slumber Party Massacre), Lew Temple (The Devil’s Rejects), Robert Miano (Donnie Brasco), and Cassandra Gava (Conan the Barbarian) round out the cast.

Ed Kemper will be released on Digital and VOD on April 8 from Dread.

‘Unspeakable: Beyond the Wall of Sleep’ VOD Review
Image
Stars: Edward Furlong, Corey Shane Love, Brandon Kirk, Steve Railsback, Susan Priver, Ginger Lynn, Lew Temple, Robert Rhine, Bai Ling | Written and Directed by Chad Ferrin

Unspeakable: Beyond the Wall of Sleep closes out the trilogy writer/director Chad Ferrin began with The Deep Ones and continued in H. P. Lovecraft’s The Old Ones. This time out Ambrose London, a world famous expert on dreams, is summoned to Arkham Asylum (no not where The Joker is kept between Batman films), to study the case of James Fhelleps/Joe Slater.

The story begins in 1998 when Jim Fhellepsis admitted to prison for a crime he claims he didn’t commit. His cellmate Sturgis attempts to force him to give him a Bj. As horrific as that sounds it gets worse when what pops out of his pants looks more like a pissed-off lamprey with a mouth full of teeth. He promptly...

‘Scared to Death’ Premieres at FrightFest
Image
Paul Boyd’s Scared to Death is set to make its international debut at Pigeon Shrine FrightFest Glasgow 2025 on 8th March, offering up a terrifying blend of supernatural horror and Hollywood satire. Starring genre icons Lin Shaye (Insidious), Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects), and Rae Dawn Chong (Commando), the film follows a group of filmmakers who, in their pursuit of authenticity, find themselves trapped in a real-life nightmare.

The story centres on Jasper (Olivier Paris), a young production assistant desperate to prove himself in the film industry. When he suggests attending a séance at a supposedly haunted orphanage for research on their latest horror film, Dead House, the idea is met with enthusiasm. The location in question—a long-abandoned children’s shelter—has been shuttered for seventy years following the mysterious deaths of five children in 1954, all of whom were reportedly found with expressions of terror, as if quite literally scared to death.

The Haunted Casino Noir: another Full Moon horror film is getting the black & white treatment
Image
Last year, Charles Band’s company Full Moon announced that they were launching a new production label called Pulp Noir, which would focus on “edgier, weirder, darker horror and dark fantasy films.” Two Pulp Noir movies, Quadrant and Death Streamer, have since made their way through production – and while those movies were initially released in color, all of the Pulp Noir movies will also get black & white “noir” releases, so there are both color and black & white versions of Quadrant and Death Streamer available on the Full Moon Features streaming service. While we wait for more Pulp Noir movies to be made, Band has started going through the Full Moon library to give some of their older films the black & white / noir treatment. Last month, a “noir” version of the 1984 sci-fi thriller Christmas classic Trancers was released through Full Moon Features and YouTube, as was a black & white version of the 1997 creature feature The Creeps.

A Forgotten Body Horror Masterpiece from 2002 Is One Its French Director Still Hasn’t Rewatched: ‘I Will Never See It Again’
Image
In the early 2000s, at the same time directors like Eli Roth and Rob Zombie were pushing the limits of violence in American cinema with “Cabin Fever” and “The Devil’s Rejects,” a parallel movement emerged in France. Dubbed cinema du corps or “New French Extremity,” the trend was characterized by extremely confrontational horror films that assaulted the audience with their combination of filmmaking skill and visceral gore.

Many of these movies no longer feel quite so shocking, their tropes now absorbed into mainstream horror. Marina de Van’s “In My Skin,” however, retains its power to disturb 23 years after its release. The story of a young woman (played by de Van herself) whose addiction to self-mutilation escalates in increasingly graphic body horror set pieces, “In My Skin” remains profoundly unsettling because there’s no barrier between the audience and the filmmaker’s subconscious — de Van invites us into her darkest...

Edward Furlong helped save humanity in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and now he has to do it again in Unspeakable: Beyond the Wall of Sleep.

Renowned oneirologist Ambrose London is summoned to Arkham Asylum to investigate a bizarre split-personality case involving a patient seemingly possessed by a 122-year-old colonial peasant. Screambox Hidden Gems: 5 Horror Movies to Stream Including Japanese Giallo ‘Evil Dead Trap’
Image
The Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox is home to a variety of unique horror content, from originals and exclusives to cult classics and documentaries. With such a rapidly-growing library, there are many hidden gems waiting to be discovered.

Here are five recommendations you can stream on Screambox right now.

Evil Dead Trap

Mix up your January Giallo viewing with Evil Dead Trap. Although its title invokes Evil Dead – and there’s a bit of Sam Raimi-esque kineticism in the camerawork – the 1988 Japanese film shares more in common with the lurid Italian thrillers: a mysterious killer, elaborate murder set pieces, gruesome violence, stylish cinematography, a dreamlike atmosphere, and an infectious synth score.

Upon receiving a graphic snuff film, a late-night TV host (Miyuki Ono) rallies a small production crew to investigate its origins at an abandoned military base. The story plays out in a manner that could be considered a slasher, but...

10 Great Horror Movies That Turn 20 In 2025
Image
2005 was filled with great slasher, spooky, and creature-feature movies. Early 2000s horror movies weren't afraid to push boundaries and scare audiences in new and exciting ways. Movies like Saw 2, Hostel, and The Devil's Rejects displayed a whole new type of brutal horror subgenre and showed just how terrifying the world could be in these franchises. These graphically violent movies weren't the first of their genre, but they brought the shock value that audiences felt worldwide.

Released in the same year, movies like The Ring 2 and The Exorcism of Emily Rose were about ominous, supernatural horror. These movies were about suffering from within and the vengeful spirits inside the main characters. There was such a wide range of horror movies, proving that people loved all subgenres of horror movies and were open to anything unsettling. 2005 was the year of fear in movies, from realistic, sadistic killers to supernatural horror...

Scream Factory is bringing Ghosts of Mars, Humanoids from the Deep, Galaxy of Terror, and Sick to 4K
Image
Blu-ray.com reports that Scream Factory has announced that they’ll be bringing four horror movies to 4K in February – and each one of these is a cool title that a lot of genre fans will be picking up. Scream Factory’s February 4K line-up consists of Ghosts of Mars (2001), Humanoids from the Deep (1980), Galaxy of Terror (1981), and Sick (2022)!

Directed by John Carpenter from a screenplay he wrote with Larry Sulkis, Ghosts of Mars is one of the least popular films in Carpenter’s filmography… but still, it’s Carpenter, so that means a 4K release is going to be a must-buy for a good number of fans. Here’s the synopsis: Long inhabited by human settlers, the Red Planet has become the manifest destiny of an over-populated Earth. Nearly 640,000 people now live and work all over Mars, mining the planet for its abundant natural resources. But one of those...

The Only Major Actors Still Alive From The Cast Of Laverne & Shirley
Image
Decades before shows like "Search Party" took an ever-shifting approach to the comedic TV format, "Laverne & Shirley" was switching things up season after season. The "Happy Days" spinoff started with a pretty consistent premise in its early seasons, focusing on two zany roommates working at a Milwaukee bottling company. By season 5, though, tomboy Laverne (Penny Marshall) and optimist Shirley (Cindy Williams) ended up in the Army Reserves, and season 6 saw them move to Burbank and work as department store gift wrappers. By the final season, Shirley was gone, and Laverne was working in the aerospace industry.

As wild as the twists and turns of "Laverne & Shirley" were, the show had some constants across its eight seasons, including the presence of neighbors Lenny (Michael McKean) and Squiggy (David Lander), Laverne's dad Frank (Phil Foster), and Shirley's fame-hungry ex, Carmine (Eddie Mekka). Most of the actors who made "Laverne & Shirley...

Last Chance to Back Ken Foree’s “Descendants of the Undead” Comic Book on Kickstarter
Image
Fans of horror icon Ken Foree (Dawn of the Dead, From Beyond, The Devil’s Rejects, Halloween) have just eight more days to back his brand new comic book series “Descendants of the Undead” on Kickstarter.

“This 30-page initial installment begins a terrifying series that incorporates the mayhem of zombies with striking visuals and electrifying characters – both human and not!

“We meet ‘Dad’, a seasoned zombie survivor, the patriarch of a straggly group of teenagers on an isolated island occupied by an advanced form of zombies. The surviving group is haunted by the supernatural catastrophic outbreak years prior.”

The first installment, written by Ken Foree, is rich with heart-stopping thrills and terror, enhanced by eerie, dynamic visuals from a passionate creative team.

It includes:

Amone Linsamouth – Art director who coordinates the artists’ contributions of style and creativity to the project as well as providing her own eerie artistry. Vincentius Matthew – Senior...

Resurrected Anchor Bay Entertainment to Release ‘Crust,’ ‘Cursed in Baja,’ ‘Abruptio’ on Blu-ray
Image
The recently resurrected Anchor Bay Entertainment will release a trio of new indie horror films on Blu-ray and DVD on December 10: Crust, Cursed in Baja, and Abruptio.

Character actor Sean Whalen (The People Under the Stairs) makes his feature directorial debut on Crust, an offbeat horror-comedy about a sock monster that he co-wrote with Jim Wald.

Whalen stars with Daniel Roebuck (Terrifier 3), Alan Ruck (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), and Ricky Dean Logan (Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare).

In Crust, “Vegas Winters is a former child star who owns a laundromat. One of the benefits of running the place is finding all the leftover socks from his customers, which Vegas uses in creative ways. After Vegas becomes the victim of bullying, he seeks refuge from the attack in the pile of socks. His pain somehow creates a monster willing to seek vengeance for Vegas.”

Cursed in Baja...

Descendants of the Undead zombie horror graphic novel coming from Dawn of the Dead star Ken Foree
Image
45 years ago, Ken Foree faced off with the undead in one of the greatest zombie movies ever made, the George A. Romero classic Dawn of the Dead. Now, Foree has written a zombie story of his own – and it’s coming our way in the form of a graphic novel called Descendants of the Undead! Copies of the 30 page first issue are available for pre-order through a Kickstarter campaign that has greatly surpassed its initial goal and still has ten days to go. You can check out the campaign at This Link.

The first issue of Descendants of the Undead is said to begin “a terrifying series that incorporates the mayhem of zombies with striking visuals and electrifying characters – both human and not! We meet ‘Dad’, a seasoned zombie survivor, the patriarch of a straggly group of teenagers on an isolated island occupied by an advanced form of zombies. The...

The Best Terrifier 3 Cameos Only Hardcore Horror Fans Noticed
Image
The concept of the movie cameo no longer means what it used to. Nowadays, we have entire feature films serving as a cameo delivery system, where "cameos" aren't brief appearances by very recognizable figures, but are actually entire supporting roles. Thanks to the comic book movie and the output of Marvel Studios in particular, the cameo has since become far more than the Easter egg it used to be. In a cinematic landscape where what we now call cameos can range from teaser appearances of characters to be seen in a future film to big-name actors who were merely kept out of the marketing materials, is there any room for the classic-style cameo anymore?

Fortunately for us horror nerds, along comes "Terrifier 3" to answer that question with a resounding "Yes." The latest installment in the Art the Clown saga includes all manner of cameo appearances, ranging from some actors...

Rob Zombie Movie Scenes: From House of 1000 Corpses to The Munsters
Image
Two years have passed since the release of musician / filmmaker Rob Zombie’s latest film, his update of the classic sitcom The Munsters, and we still don’t know what he’s going to make next (although we do have a wish list of movies we’d like to see him make). While we anxiously wait to hear what Zombie’s going to do next, we have decided to take a look back at all of the movies he has made, from House of 1000 Corpses to The Munsters, to put together a list of some of the Best Scenes from Rob Zombie movies to date.

House Of 1000 Corpses (2003): Home Visit

The feature directorial debut from Rob Zombie (who was born Robert Bartleh Cummings), the horror film House of 1000 Corpses had to overcome production issues, distribution problems, and lost footage on the way to reaching theatres two years later than expected,...

Halloween (2007) – What Happened to This Horror Movie?
Image
Halloween: Resurrection in 2002 seemed to close the door on the original film’s run. It had run out of gas and failed both critically, with a 10% score on Rotten Tomatoes, as well as commercially, with it only bringing in 37 million on its 15-million-dollar budget. The next year would see Freddy and Jason clash with each other and Leatherface get the remake treatment from studio Platinum Dunes. While Freddy and Jason would get their own remakes in 2009 and 2010 respectively, you know you can’t keep a good masked villain down for long. So, before his two main slasher rivals got their day in the sun, Michael Myers would receive his own remake that came out in 2007. With a drastically different take and a new producer behind the wheel, Halloween would get a chance to do something drastically different than anything we had seen before. Everyone will be entitled to one good...

His latest movie is the action thriller Seven Cemeteries, which was just given a theatrical and digital release today, October 11th, and on Amazon it’s available to rent for the price of $6.99 or purchase for $14.99. Image
The “Big Bang Theory” spinoff series in the works at Max has found its first three cast members.

Variety has learned from sources that Brian Posehn, Lauren Lapkus, and Kevin Sussman will all star in the potential show, which was originally announced as being in development at Max back in April 2023. Exact plot details remain under wraps but all three actors would reprise their roles from the original series.

The show remains in development and has not been greenlit to series at this time, with Posehn, Sussman, and Lapkus currently under talent holding deals. “Big Bang Theory” co-creator Chuck Lorre is executive producing the new project via Chuck Lorre Productions, with Lorre currently under an overall deal with series studio Warner Bros. Television.

Reps for Wbtv and Max declined to comment.

Sussman famously played comic book store owner Stuart Bloom on “The Big Bang Theory” beginning in the show’s second season,...

Hayride to Hell: Bill Moseley, Kane Hodder horror film gets a new trailer ahead of digital and VOD release
Dan Lantz
Alpha Rift director Dan Lantz’s horror film Hayride to Hell is a movie we seem to hear about once a year. Back in 2022, it had a sold out premiere screening at the Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania – the same theatre that served as a memorable filming location for the 1958 classic The Blob. In 2023, it received a wider theatrical release a week and a half before Halloween. Now, just in time for this year’s spooky season, Hayride to Hell is set to receive a digital and VOD release on September 24th. In anticipation of that release, a new trailer has dropped online and can be seen in the embed above.

Starring genre icons Bill Moseley and Kane Hodder (who played Jason Voorhees and Victor Crowley in four films each), Hayride to Hell shows what happens when Farmer Sam (Moseley) exacts his bloody revenge on unscrupulous local town-folk, including Sheriff...

Stream Review
Image
Plot: The Keenan family checks into a quaint inn called The Pines, “the pearl of Pennsylvania,” only to find that there is no Wi-Fi, cell phone signals are blocked, the exits are locked, and four masked killers are stalking the halls.

Review: Directed by Terrifier cast member Michael Leavy, the slasher movie Stream has two major selling points going for it: Terrifier franchise director Damien Leone provided the bloody special effects, and the cast list reads like the Expendables or the Avengers of horror. The line-up includes Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator), Danielle Harris (Halloween 4), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), Dee Wallace (The Howling), Mark Holton (Leprechaun), Daniel Roebuck (Final Destination), Dave Sheridan (The Devil’s Rejects), Terry Alexander (Day of the Dead), David Howard Thornton (Terrifier), Tim Reid (Stephen King’s It), Charles Edwin Powell (Exorcist III), Tony Todd (the original Candyman himself), Bill Moseley (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Terry Kiser (Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood...

This Controversial Filmmaker Defies a Widespread Horror Trope
Image
Horror is a genre that, by its very button-pushing nature, tends to target younger audiences. Its propensity for breaking taboos and pushing boundaries makes it a natural vector for youthful rebellion, and the same is said of rock and roll. All this would seem to place Rob Zombie firmly in an adolescent area of pop culture which makes his focus on older characters a pleasant surprise. In a recent interview, the filmmaker said he wants his next movie to star Danny Trejo, an 80-year-old actor who wouldn't even be the oldest actor in the Zombie clique.

The filmmaker's 2003 feature debut House of 1,000 Corpses followed the standard slasher movie model with its naive young protagonists, but the main characters of 2005's The Devil's Rejects ranged in age from about 50 to 66. Zombie would work with this troupe for the next 14 years, adding even more mature veterans along the way. Hollywood may...
