Childhood memories
samyaksambuddha23 April 2018
As soon as Shaktimaan 'word' enters our ears we enter into the days of our childhood days when watching it was an important part of out weekends. This was the impact that this series brought in the minds of children, though not only children watch it. This was a mix of ethics with fantasy, education with entertainment, ancient wisdom with modern technology. This series was marvel of Indian television was technology had not reached high tides like today. Wonderful presentation along with brilliant storyline this was a brilliant work of its days.

Best Indian Superhero
pranay_misra4 November 2016
Talking about Shaktimaan, it is one of the best TV series of India. I got compelled to review the series by watching a negative review here.I don't have any idea how someone can find Shaktiman bad. It has got superhero, a heroin(Geeta Vishwas) and funny hero (Gangadhar) and also Dr. Jackal and Kilwish. Acting was good effects were okay for that time(and they haven't improved yet in India) .Overall it was too much fun to avoid. Surely if anyone watches it today they may find it bit bizarre but it was awesome at the it was aired. Indian small kids may never what a great series they missed. Also a special mention for the Kaladungapur Jungle episodes where we got a villain who was similar to Arnlod's Predator, those episodes were very very awesome.

Shaktimaan the first Indian Superhero
swarupbasak14 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
When evil was ruling the world, the Suryanshis chose him as the warrior to fight evil. When the five natural elements of life, fire, earth, water, wind and sky invigorated his body, he gained superpowers from these elements. Eventually he transformed into Shaktimaan. Shaktimaan was the rebirth of Shri Satya who had formed the Suryanshi Sect after the war of the Mahabharata 7,500 years ago. He got his powers from 7 spiritual gurus who had blessed him with mystical yogic shakti and trained him in ancient combat forms. During his training, Shaktimaan was taught the way to energize the 7 chakras of body through Kundalini Yoga that helped him get mystical and supernatural powers. He also conducted the ritual of death in order to get total control over his powers. This process, instead of killing him, made him almost immortal and stronger than any mere human being. Towards the end the Suryanshis performed a Yagya (Yajna) through which he entered holy fire and immersed his physical body in it. After which the five natural elements of life, namely fire, earth, water, wind and sky invigorated his body and he gained further super powers from these elements. Eventually he transformed into a super human warrior in order to fight against the forces of evil in the world and ultimately became the super hero Shaktimaan. In my childhood I used to see Shaktimaan every Sunday. I really loved the concept that fight between good and evil and finally truth wins in-spite of all odds. The storytelling is also very good.Arranging with ideas and making into India's first superhero is incredibly amazing. In spite of some error this show is quietly enjoyable and good for children.Ending message is also very good.An Indian Masterpiece.

One of the best serials ever of 90s
ironsun-0883420 July 2016
Shaktimaan is the only serial, I think had lots of learning messages. It had great story lines and great messages for kids and all. We watched it with all our attentions and hearts in it on Sundays (started in Saturdays in the beginning). Main important part of any serial is not the graphics, as many of today's serials have very high quality graphics but with a very poor or cheap story behind. Mahabharat, Ramayan, Shaktimaan and few other serials of that times are still great not because of their graphics of course but because of their direction and great messages towards the viewers. The fact is I still watch all those serials in Youtube and don't find any other serial of present times with so called high quality graphics more interesting and with greater messages than those master pieces of 90s.

Miss those days
sujithsj9 March 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Shakthiman the very first super hero of India portrayed really great character of all time. Its a children's serial and those who says its graphics not so good only looks foreign serials. It had really a nice story and good screenplay too. Sunday was in those days all about watching Shakthiman. It created such an impact that even elders started watching Shakthiman. It contained so many advices for children and most probably above 80% children was eager to hear what Shakthiman says. So i really miss Shakthiman and that serial is still showing in Pogo..The main drawback was its not ended, and stopped nowhere. Don't know why. It should had a proper ending. No one really still don't know whether the negative character died or not or how many episodes did it aired...

Only people of my generation can understand what it really was! It was not just a tv show it was an escape for us all back then! An escape from the constraints of a poor middle class life.

When i was kid i used to watch this TV episode... and that point of time i was really crazy about this TV serial..not only me but also my others friends too .but when i turns in Hollywood movies now this ''shaktimaan'' became funny joke front of me. i have seen more than 8000+ Hollywood movies & have a great knowledge about films. when you experienced more than 1000 best movies of IMDb you will never ever gonna like this kind of stuff. their are thousand of best TV series like COSMOS, planet earth, blue planet, game of thrones, through the wormhole, to watch... in my opinion don't waste you time in this. this 'shaktimaan' has nothing expect 'maa' 'maa' 'maa' 'maa'........................................

A well-made superhero series with a heart.
Achyut_Prashast_Singh21 November 2019
Although I haven't seen each and every episode, I have seen a fairly high amount to review this TV series already. Shaktimaan has been a memorable superhero since childhood. Nostalgia is guaranteed while watching several episodes combining Shaktimaan's magical action sequences and Gangadhar's comedic escapades. Mukesh Khanna is the biggest reason why Shaktimaan became what it is today, and there's a reason why this character has managed to exist beyond the series.

Shaktimaan has power-packed action sequences. The efforts in the stunts can be seen, and I really liked how they pulled off many of them. Visual effects are fairly average but not too bad for the times it was released in. Even though many sequences are overshadowed by a weak CGI, its the crisp writing that eventually comes to the rescue.

Mukesh Khanna and Vaishnavi have given their finest here in terms of performances. Shaktimaan/Gangadhar and Geeta are the most memorable characters in the whole series, and the strong acting is a major reason behind that. Shaktimaan also has a lot of positive messages to offer to kids, and that's another reason behind its success as a superhero series.

However, it's equally heartbreaking to discover a good amount of episodes have been copied from Hollywood movies such as First Blood, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Predator, X-Men and even the much loved Star Wars franchise etc. Recreating a sequence based on a film is one thing and using the exact footage from that film to create a sequence is another thing. Shaktimaan disappoints by proceeding more with the second one. If you have seen any of the above mentioned films, you're bound to be very disappointed. And oh, how could I forget the Superman inspiration?

Nevertheless, it's a fun action series to watch for yesterday's kids and today's adults who would love to cherish those pleasant memories of watching India's one of the finest superheroes on the small screen. As for today's kids, it might not to be impressive enough but has sufficient intense action and strong performances that make it worth a watch. If there's ever a reboot, I'd expect the same powerful writing, strong performances, intense action sequences but with better CGI and more original ideas.

Exceptional Memories of the First Indian Superhero
cseabhi5 April 2020
It amazes me how an excellent superhero stuff was made in the 90's with almost very little technical help. The visual effects were bad as compared to today's vfx world but it was brilliant as compared to the visual effects of the 90's.

Mukesh Khanna was like the superhero of Indian Television. First it was his character Bheeshma in Mahabharata and now in Shaktiman, he was just brilliant in both of them.

Story, concept, theme music, the characters, all the aspects of this show was brilliant. Mukesh Khanna as Shaktiman and Gangadhar was exceptionally brilliant. Vaishnavi as Geeta Vishwas, and the Surendra Pal as Tamraj Kilvish were brilliant in their part. Tom Alter was my personal favourite.

Kids from the 90's still remember the characters name like Kilvish, Dr Jaikal, gangadhar and Shaktiman. Till now people often quote the dialouges of Shaktiman.

Shaktiman was the first Indian Superhero and perhaps the best Indian Superhero story till date.

The very definition of bad TV
ani6259 November 2011
Back in the days, we used to watch many great TV series, especially during the DD-only era. The choices were too less, but quality was delivered in many TV serials. Quality is exactly what Shaktimaan lacked. Absolutely horrible graphics, silly dialogs along with a incompetent direction made this a perfect recipe of bad TV airing in those days. Frankly I cannot think of any other contemporary series that's as badly conceptualized as this one.

I remember watching a couple of episodes and ended laughing on the floor. If I put it this way, this is an out and out laugh riot. Perfect fit into the "So bad it's good" category.
