Sex & Nudity

Violence & Gore

  • Toward the end, Chestnut goes after one of the robbers, who is brandishing a letter opener as a weapon. When the robber pushes the dog away viewers see a shot of the letter opener covered in blood.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • At the end of the movie, when Chestnut is injured by the robber, viewers are led to believe he will die. Sal and Ray go in to say goodbye to him. (He ends up being okay.)
  • Sal runs away with Chestnut and hides under a bridge in Central Park. Police and her adopted parents and sister are looking for them. When horse-mounted police find Sal, she throws Chestnut's toy into the bushes so he will run away. My 4-year-old was very upset that Chestnut would be all alone and lost. Other young children may also be worried by this.
