As an unabashed fan of Mortal Kombat X, I was interested in the Kombat Pack 2 prior to any details being released on it. The first Kombat Pack was well worth the money, as the new costumes were excellent and the additional fighters even better. For the second Dlc pack, NetherRealm Studios has returned to the formula that worked so well last year. Once again, those that choose to purchase the content, or buy the complete Mortal Kombat Xl, will get two new horror movie icons, as well as two returning faces to the franchise. It’s a successful formula for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, so it’s not too surprising to see it being implemented again.
Serving as counter-balances to the previously released Jason Voorhees and Predator, the Kombat Pack 2 brings Leatherface and the Xenomorph to the Mortal Kombat universe. The “face” of the iconic Texas Chainsaw Massacre film franchise,...

After Street Fighter laid the groundwork for the fighting game, Mortal Kombat hit the scene, setting a high-water mark for realistic digitized graphics and pushing boundaries with its high levels of bloody violence, including, most notably, its Fatalities. It sparked so much controversy for its depiction of extreme violence and gore that it led to the creation of the Esrb (the video game rating system). The release of Mortal Kombat for home consoles by Acclaim Entertainment was one of the largest video game launches of all time, with a $10 million marketing campaign that dubbed the date “Mortal Monday.” No surprise, then, that a game this controversial and popular would pique the interest of money-hungry Hollywood executives looking to cash in. Get ready to lose your lunch, as Mortal Kombat is back for its tenth outing, gorier than ever before...
After 2011's successful revival of the Mortal Kombat series, and the following refinement of Netherrealm's fighting engine with Injustice: Gods Among Us, Mortal Kombat X was already looking like a promising prospect long before release. Now we have the game in our hands, we get to see what the current gen can do for the brutal scrapper.
Mainly set 25 years after the events of 2011's game, Mkx sees a new generation of fighters step up to defend Earthrealm, this time against sorcerer, Shinnok. Many fighters fell during the last game, now enthralled into the service of Qhan Chi, and new fighters include the offspring and relations of returning characters, such as Cassie Cage, the daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade, Jacqui Briggs, Jax's daugher, Takeda Takahashi, son of Kenshi, and Kung Jin,...

New Dlc for Mortal Kombat X is going to feature one ugly mother...
The Mortal Kombat series already has a very reputable roster of deadly warriors, with the likes of Scorpion, Raiden, Sub Zero, and Kano, and it's already welcomed special crossover fighters, including God Of War's Kratos, and the dream demon himself, Freddy Krueger. With Mortal Kombat X, the roster looks like it's going to be graced with another special guest, one of extra terrestrial origin, as the Predator signs up for some gruesome action.
Ripping spines out out his victims long before Sub Zero patented the infamous move, the Predator is one of cinema's most iconic villains, and has gone head to head with Alien's xenomorphs many times in film and gaming, and in comics it's fought some of the biggest characters, including Superman, Batman, Judge Dredd, and the Terminator. This week’s E3 conference in La has been a veritable treasure trove of information and revelations on what we can expect to be playing over the next 24 months or so on all generations of consoles, but despite the fanfare around the big reveals such as Halo 5 or Littlebigplanet 3, a lot of focus was aimed squarely at those games revealed in the lead up to the event and one of the biggest hitters (literally) was the long awaited Mortal Kombat X.
We wrote about the trailer that was rushed out last week here after a leak from a retailer and the assumption from the internet is that the trailer was supposed to be premièred at E3 during the Sony conference. With the cat well and truly out of the bag, NetherRealm Studios did the best thing they could by showing off the game actually running. Not only did they...

Last week, Ed Boon officially announced Mortal Kombat X, the latest entry in the long running fighting franchise. Paired with that announcement was a video depicting long time series combatants Scorpion and Sub Zero fighting against each other and the promise of more information soon. Sony’s E3 press conference last night brought about that information, as not only did we get the first gameplay footage from the title, but we also got a glimpse of some new faces that will be coming out to play.
As you would probably imagine, the gameplay shown off from Mortal Kombat X was very reminiscent of the combat seen in the well received 2011 reboot of the franchise. The X-ray footage of bones being shattered makes a triumph return, as do, of course, the over the top gory fatalities that popularized the series. The one new idea showcased in the trailer is that players...

Raw, brutal, rough, and bloody. The words that spewed out of Gg Allin’s mouth over twenty years ago never rang truer than they did at Sony’s E3 press conference as they unveiled a new gameplay trailer for Mortal Kombat X.
Aside from a glistening showcase of violence, the trailer reveals a few of the game’s new characters. Classics like Scorpion and Sub Zero are there, but so are two new characters: a woman who looks like a deadly dragonfly mutant and a giant/little person combo that is no doubt inspired by Master Blaster.
Weapons were one heavy showcase as Scorpion dices with short swords and the Master Blaster character unleashes a fury of stabbings with blades attached to his wrists. Developers also promise Mortal Kombat X will feature an online ranking system, putting players in contact and competition across the world.

This week, NetherRealm Studios confirmed that Mortal Kombat X not only exists, but is slated for a cross generation release in 2015, releasing the first preview trailer for the game, which you can see below. The follow up to 2012′s monumentally successful franchise reboot, Mk X is promising to build on the thunderous legacy of the brutal beat ‘em up as the series moves into the new console generation.
The trailer shows the franchise’s two most iconic characters, Sub Zero and Scorpion, knocking seven bells out of each other in a bleak, snow-covered forest while Whiz Kalifa’s “Can’t Be Stopped” plays over the top. Specific focus is given to the line in the song “Who’s next?” which appears to be the either the tagline for the game, or for the marketing around it. It’s not unreasonable to assume that there will be further trailers coming...

Trailer
The next instalment in the Mortal Kombat series, which enjoyed something of a revival with the excellent 2011 release, is heading back to our screens in the form of Mortal Kombat X.
Initially, the game was discovered via an Amazon listing (via MP1st) containing references to Mortal Kombat X on multiple platforms, including Xbox One and PS4. Shortly afterwards, Netherrealm's Ed Boon confirmed that the game did, indeed, exist.
The name of the game is "Mortal Kombat X"

After a solid start with its more anthology-oriented first season, WB Digital and Kevin Tancharoen’s Mortal Kombat Legacy has returned for a second season on Machinima of 10 short episodes outlining the first rounds of the Mortal Kombat tournament in Outworld. With the majority of the origins handled by the previous season, the plot for season 2 is now a more serialized effort, with brief flashbacks and interludes to fill in back story for the new characters introduced to the tournament (Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Kenshi) as well as fully lay out Mk’s defining feud between Scorpion and Sub Zero.
Despite the overarching storyline, the series still feels like an anthology, with the characters’ interactions handled in a very episodic fashion, although overlap between them is far heavier than in the previous season. It still works really well in the bite-sized pieces in which it’s delivered, even if some of the characters feel underutilized.

Machinima has released all ten episodes of director Kevin Tancharoen's highly anticipated Mortal Kombat: Legacy II, and holy shit! It's awesome! If you enjoyed the first part of this web-series you're going to absolutely love the sequel because it's even better! This time around they had more money to work with and the support of the studio. It's amazing what they have been able to accomplish, and I'm so excited to see what these guys actually end up bringing to the feature film they are developing.
I've included all of the episodes below, along with a short description of each one. I hope you enjoy the second season! I already can't wait to see more Mortal Kombat awesomeness!

Kevin Tancharoen came almost completely out of nowhere (at least with Mortal Kombat fans) when he released a viral teaser called Mortal Kombat: Rebirth, a gritty, realistic take on the classic fighting game series. This bold tactic earned him the director’s chair for Mortal Kombat Legacy, a digital web series that reworked the mythology in an anthology of origin stories while keeping the spirit true to its source material. Today, WB and Machinima are releasing the second season of Mortal Kombat Legacy, with Tancharoen once again helming the project. I recently talked to Tancharoen regarding Legacy, the upcoming feature film, and…Ninja Turtles?
Tell us about where you’re going with Mortal Kombat Legacy Season 2.

What are your thoughts on betting? Think they're total waste of time and money? Are you not into guessing the outcome of sporting matches or horse races? At least enough to put money down on them.
What about fighting games? Would you be more inclined to wager on virtual head to head matches? What if the money you had was not real? That's probably a bit better.
But to make it even more exciting, and since nothing is actually real anyway, why not make them computer driven matches featuring completely random characters? We're not talking Ryu vs. M. Bison, we're talking Sub Zero vs. Homer Simpson.
Welcome to the wild world of Salyy Bet, which broadcasts randomly generated matches via Mugen. For those unfamiliar, it's an open sourced fighting platform that allows for any and all game characters go head to head, so the real name of the game is custom creations.

Over the course of thirty four films and forty four active years one of the most improbable movie stars Hollywood has seen returns from a political sabbatical to the big screen. In The Last Stand Arnold Schwarzenegger is back cracking wise and causing mayhem but there is no Expendables-sized irony here; this is different man causing the shots.
There are still bad guys with dubious foreign accents, still the same needless deaths to prove a point and yet the force meeting these heinous acts is older and perhaps a little wiser. With Sylvester Stallone’s later career proving something of a model the need to send up the ultraviolence of last century is perhaps waning with both Stallone and Schwarzenegger falling back into the good, old fashioned gunplay albeit with a need to address the age issue.
Both Bullet in the Head and The Last Stand are uncomplicated and fun.

With the recent announcement of intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo coming to "Injustice" as the first Dlc character, we got to thinking about others who would be a great fit for developer Netherrealm Studios' DC Universe fighting game.
After the jump, we've got a list of ten characters who would be essential picks (and maybe should have been in the game at release), offering Batman, Lex Luthor, and the rest of the "Injustice" heroes and villains some formidable challenges while mining the legacy of the DC Universe.
10. Starro
As a serious fighting game, "Injustice" is light on the quirky, idiosyncratic characters. That doesn't mean there can't be room for a mind-controlling, galaxy-traveling, ultra reproducing starfish. Starro, an early Justice League villain, would make a perfect Shuma Gorath to the rest of the game's more traditional fighters.

Kevin Tancharoen's web-series Mortal Kombat: Legacy turned out pretty awesome. It even ended up landing him the directing gig for the feature film. Before he gets to that though he co-wrote and directed a sequel to the web-series that a lot of Mortal Kombat fans loved. Warner Bros. Digital Distribution announced that Mortal Kombat: Legacy 2 will be released in Q2 2013 on Machinima. I really enjoyed the first web-series, and I'm excited for what the sequel has to offer! Check out the official press release:

Apparently just because Kevin Tancharoen has been hired on by WB to make another live action Mortal Kombat movie, doesn't mean he's stopped work on his wildly popular Mk webseries. WB's Digital Distribution arm has confirmed the second 'season' of the webseries is currently in production and will debut in 2013. We'll be able to see our first clip pretty soon too.
Honestly, I'm kind of surpised by this and not exactly sure how I feel. Don't get me worong, I truly enjoy the Mortal Kombat: Legacy webseries. I thought it was fun, and showed off what can be done with the property (especially once it gets a bigger budget). Once it was announced that the studios hired him to take on a full length Mortal Kombat feature, I figured he would devote all his time and attention to that. I guess I was wrong.
