- In a subplot of the film, Dave's teenage son is groomed by his pedophile counselor, an adult man who takes photos of him shirtless and eventually attempts to molest him. Dave later hunts down the counselor and beats him up.
- Dave's young daughter, Shelly, is often present during sexual dialogue between the adult characters, including during an argument in which Dave's wife complains about giving him oral sex (Shelly overhears it from the other side of the door) and Dave trying to explain to Shelly the meaning of the nickname "camel toe" that other students have given her. Shelly often calls people names such as "pussy" when her parents aren't around.
Violence & Gore
- The main character frequently has fast food thrown at him, including a hot apple pie, because people find it funny to "throw things at the weatherman". At one point he becomes frustrated and chases the man who threw food at him so he can rub the food into the man's face.

- At a "living funeral" for a dying character, glasses of wine are seen atop numerous tables.
