An amusing look into the mind of the director, a reflection of ourselves
yidele13 March 2004
Golasy is a visually & technically sparse, but interesting experiment. The use of nudity ( all of the characters are nude ) as well as the scenery ( all of the scenes are shot in two drab rooms and a hallway ) serve the purpose of focusing the viewer's attention on the action & dialogue which, while not sparkling, witty or ornate, precisely captures the atmosphere of a single day in a small office in an anonymous Polish bureaucracy.

The subtleties of the dialogue will likely be lost on western viewers, but not on other denizens of former soviet satellite countries for whom all of the characters represent archetypes present anywhere a soviet-style bureaucracy was to be found...

All of the characters are portrayed not by professional actors but by extras & the idea behind casting/nudity, at least according to the director, was to capture the most honest, primal reactions ( changes of stance, posture, muscle mimicry, color) which are best visible without our clothes.

While Golasy is not a ground breaking film by any standard, it is an entertaining & insightful as well as honest look at the human condition

Why?
denis88821 September 2006
Remember, there was a really cute British TV series called The Office? There, you could see the great vivid description of everyday life of normal people in a real office. The Boss was a real jerk and he was a nationalist, a silly jokes' teller, a gossip monger and so on... So, why talking about that classic British film? Probably, because some Polish film directors decided to do something really fresh and original. So, what did they do? Simply, they copied the Office's style and jokes, but invited non professional actors and stripped them totally nude. Well, if that was a repeating of the Office's winning formula, then it failed most poorly, as the jokes are not funny and the actors are horribly weak and artificial. If that was the soft porn try, then it awoke aversion only as the naked bodies of the actors are not so nice to look at. The only clue is that the film director really that badly wanted to make something really original. And again, failed. Do not watch it. Ever.

"The Office" Meets "Oh! Calcutta!" and bores mightily
karmaswimswami16 April 2014
In the pantheon of stinker, boring, shamelessly pointless and feckless films, "Golasy" needs top billing. "Worse than 'Golasy'" should take its place in superlative lexicon alongside "bigger than a breadbox." A trite, hopelessly uninteresting, slapdash, unleavened hack of a movie featuring nude ugly bodies tenanted by brains of utter non-actors. "Golasy" is badly scripted, badly shot, badly lit, badly staged, badly acted, badly edited, devoid of wit, insight, thrust or purpose, and it utterly a strain to finish watching. Shame on an otherwise clever and delightful culture (Poland) producing such an embarrassment. This film will stultify anyone more highly evolved than a Komodo dragon. One can spend what feels like a week sitting through this insulting paint-dryer.

No new insights

This must be one of the most horrible films I have ever seen. Some people work naked in an office. Naked is normal in this film of director Witold Swiêtnicki. During the film, supposedly funny slapstick-like things happen to the characters, like injuries. That is basically the story.

The jokes are not funny, don't make any sense, and contribute in no way to the movie. Acting is bad, characters are unrealistic. This is cheaper than the cheapest soap. Just one example, a new female employee can't do any good in the eyes of her superiors. Literally every cliché is used in her character and the way her superiors treat her.

But the worst of all must be that the nakedness doesn't provide any new insights. Everything happens just as normal. So why is the world naked then? In what way does it influence the story? I could not find any clues. The director uses the naked idea only as a way to attract attention.
