Michael J. Fox and “Spin City” fans — you’re in for a treat. After not appearing in an on-screen role since his 2020 appearance on “The Good Fight,” Fox will return to acting as a guest star in the upcoming Season 3 of “Shrinking,” Apple TV+ announced Thursday.
Long a staple of television sitcoms, Fox previously worked with “Shrinking” showrunner Bill Lawrence on “Spin City” and also guest-starred on his later series “Scrubs.”
Mirroring the show’s own depiction of Parkinson’s disease through Harrison Ford’s character Dr. Paul Rhoades, Fox has been living with the ailment for 30 years. In that time, Fox through his organization The Michael J. Fox Foundation has raised over $2 billion for Parkinson’s research and has been a vocal advocate for how the disease is perceived. Though the actor was diagnosed in 1991, he first revealed his diagnosis in 1998 while a part of “Spin City.” By Season...

Exclusive: Five-time Emmy winner Michael J. Fox is returning to acting with a major guest-starring role on the upcoming third season of Apple TV+’s hit comedy series Shrinking, toplined by Jason Segel and Harrison Ford.
Details around the role are being kept under wraps but it may be connected to the character arc of Ford’s therapist Paul Rhoades. It was revealed at the end of Season 1 that Paul has Parkinson’s, a disease Fox has been battling for three and a half decades.
This marks a reunion for Fox and Shrinking co-creator/executive producer Bill Lawrence. Fox headlined Lawrence’s first series as a creator, Spin City, for four seasons before leaving when his symptoms became more serious. The ABC comedy landed Fox his fifth Emmy award; he had won four for Family Ties.

Going Dutch is returning for a second tour of duty. The freshman Fox sitcom has been renewed for a second season at the network. Deadline reports that both Going Dutch and its network stablemate, Animal Control, will be returning next season. The series' first season is now streaming on Hulu.
Deadline reports that although the Denis Leary-led series' ratings were not spectacular, the fact that the series is produced and owned by Fox may have played a part in the network's decision. Fox is also selling the series internationally; unlike many sitcoms, it is an international production, with a military base in Ireland standing in for Garrison Stroopsdorf, the fictional US Army base in Holland that serves as the show's primary setting. Additionally, Going Dutch and Animal Control are the only live-action sitcoms currently on Fox. This may also mean that Fox may not order any new half-hour comedies for the upcoming TV season.

When you are looking for a new show to watch, the decision can be made around many factors like the cast, directors, and writers; lately, those are not the only factors that make a show good. Increasingly, people look at production houses as a key factor in bringing quality to shows.
Networks like HBO gave us The Sopranos and Game of Thrones, AMC with Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead, and AppleTV+ with Ted Lasso and Severance—you get the idea. One such cable network that has been killing it with banger shows is FX, which creates shows that capture the interest of audiences and critics alike.

Denis Leary said authenticity to the military is as important as being funny on his new show Going Dutch. Leary plays Army Col. Patrick Quinn, who gets re-assigned to a base in the Netherlands after ranting against the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He and the base’s soldiers engage in comic hijinx, but they’re never making fun of the Army.
“I know we’re supposed to be funny but we’re also supposed to be soldiers,” Leary said. “We’re all dressed that way. Even if we’re just in the hair and makeup trailer, generally we’re in our uniforms. It’s a constant reminder.”
Leary developed the show as executive producer with creator Joel Church-Cooper. Leary said detail is so important to him, he insists on acoutrements the audience will never see.
“There are certain props the audience will never see that I want my character to have with him,...

Reporting on news about actors and performers with little or nothing to do with the roles they portray is sometimes dismissed as idle gossip or sensationalism. However, every so often, a story comes about that chronicles the darker side of human nature and leaves us repulsed and horrified. The recent news surrounding Isaiah Stokes is just so. The actor, who has previously appeared on shows such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Power, and Blue Bloods, has been convicted on charges of second-degree murder and criminal possession, according to a press release issued by the Queens District Attorney’s office on March 10th, 2025.
Described by district attorney Melinda Katz as a “calculated murder,” the charges Stokes has been convicted of stem from an incident that occurred in 2021. According to prosecutors, Stokes fatally shot Tyrone Jones as he sat in his vehicle outside a restaurant in St. Albans on February...

The ‘90s family movie classic The Sandlot starred a bunch of kid actors, James Earl Jones, and, of course, two dudes in a massive dog costume. Also in the cast was comedian Denis Leary, who played Smalls’ stepdad Bill. In a surprise twist, he turned out to not be an asshole.
The Sandlot, which came out in 1993, was Leary’s first real movie role. Later that same year, he would show up in Demolition Man as the guerrilla rebel soldier whose complaints about fascist dystopias wouldn’t seem out of place in an ‘80s comedy club.
But despite the fact that he clearly wasn’t a seasoned actor at that point in his career, Leary still had some big demands while shooting The Sandlot. At one point in the film, Bill offers to play catch with Smalls, inadvertently giving him a black eye in the process. In 2023, prop master Terry Haskell...

In the early 1990s, Denis Leary hit the comedy circuit with a bang with his No Cure for Cancer routine, which touched on themes around smoking, drug use and political correctness.
Leary might be tempted to jump aboard a bandwagon that finds today’s comedians to be less brave and risky than when he first came up, but he eschews that temptation.
“Comedy is not everybody’s cup of tea but god damn you think you’ve seen everything and then you see someone else coming who makes you laugh your ass off,” he told Deadline. “Generationally, there are always [new] people.”
Leary points to the way in which “edgy” comedy greats one generation below him like Bill Burr and Dave Chappelle smashed barriers, but he is also enthused by younger comedians such as Daily Show performer Ronny Chieng. “He came over to America at a young age and cut his...

Kanye West only had great things to say about Drake until they started feuding in 2018. Things quickly went south as Ye, who called Drake “the greatest of all time”, accused the Canadian rapper of threatening and bullying him. West was only one of the many rappers who initially loved Drake but went on to turn their backs against him.
Kendrick Lamar and Drake collaborated on several projects before Lamar distanced himself from the rapper in 2013. When he was featured in Future and Metro Boomin’s Like That in 2024, Lamar never thought he would dive into a full diss track back-and-forth with Drake. The Toronto-based rapper responded with Push Ups and Taylor Made Freestyle.

When Charles Durning appeared on NCIS in 2004, he was neither a stranger to acting nor without knowledge of the military. The WWII veteran was a long-time presence on big and small screens. Durning's role as Corporal Earnie Yost on NCIS stood apart from many of his other roles, however, because it earned him a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
His appearance on NCIS wasn't Durning's first nomination in the category. He was previously nominated for playing Michael Gavin on Rescue Me and Thomas Finnegan on Homicide: Life on the Streets. Additional praise for Durning came with Oscar nominations for his roles in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982) and To Be or Not to Be (1983).

The upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe series Daredevil: Born Again will mark a grittier turn for the Disney-owned franchise, but not for superhero content. In an exclusive interview with SFX Magazine, Series showrunner Dario Scardapane revealed his intentions for the series to surpass Max's recent success adapting DC Comics' The Penguin.
"We're even more grounded, even less stylized, even more rooted in the here and now," said Scardapane, then confessing, "It's really strange. You work in a vacuum and then something else comes out and you go, 'Oh, wow'. I would say in many ways The Penguin is our direct competition [but] we're a little faster, meaner, cleaner in our storytelling."

The Young and the Restless spoilers for Thursday, January 2, force Mariah to relive one of the most painful times of her life, as Jordan and Ian finally get one with what they came to Genoa City to do. Um…what did they come to Genoa City to do?
Little Girl Lost
Mariah (Camryn Grimes) wasn’t always Sharon’s (Sharon Case) beloved daughter. In fact, she was stolen from Sharon at birth. Sharon only thought she’d given birth to Cassie. She didn’t know about Mariah.
Instead, Mariah grew up in a cult, thinking Sharon’s midwife was her mother and thinking of the cult’s leader, Ian (Ray Wise), as her father figure. That kind of went sideways when Ian drugged Mariah and tried to marry her for her money. Mariah still hasn’t really recovered. This is why the return of Ian into her life is the...

After eight episodes of twists and turns, the whole truth finally comes into focus in No Good Deed‘s finale — but where can the dark comedy go from here?
Throughout the season, viewers had pieced together that Jacob’s sister Emily (played by Generation’s Chloe East) had shot and killed her brother after mistaking him for a burglar. In Episode 8, however, Lydia (Friends’ Lisa Kudrow) and Paul (Ray Romano) learn new details about their son’s death.

Liz Feldman is back with a new series called “No Good Deed,” and just as she did in her Netflix series “Dead to Me,” she’s set up a pretty good mystery.
Now streaming on Netflix, the show centers on Paul and Lydia, who are trying to sell their very popular and desired home. For them, it’s become haunted after their son was killed there three years earlier.
His death is labeled a casualty of a home invasion, but nothing is quite what it seems on this one. And there are plenty of potential suspects in and around the neighborhood.
Here are the faces you’ll need to know.
Netflix Lydia Morgan (Lisa Kudrow)
Lydia Morgan is a renowned pianist, but after her son is killed, she can’t keep her hands from shaking and temporarily loses her ability to play. She’s brought to life by “Friends” and “Time Bandits” star Lisa Kudrow.

Rotten Tomatoes has had a lukewarm response to a new show featuring one of the stars of Euphoria. The popular HBO teen drama, which was created by Sam Levinson and is based on the 2012 Israeli miniseries of the same name, is set in the fictional East Highland, California and follows the trials and tribulation of teenage addict Rue (Zendaya) as well as the classmates and adults in her orbit. The show debuted with season 1 in 2019, followed by season 2 in 2022. The upcoming season 3 was officially renewed in February 2022.
The Euphoria cast features a robust ensemble bringing the various characters in and around the high school to life. Many of these stars have gone on to other major projects, including Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and Hunter Schafer. However, not all of these projects are well-received on Rotten Tomatoes.

Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Colman Domingo stars in Netflix's conspiracy thriller series The Madness, which made its premiere on Nov. 28, Thanksgiving Day. The series has been one of the most highly anticipated Netflix new releases of 2024, Domingo's first major television role since earning his Emmy win in 2022 for his performance in HBO's Euphoria.
The Madness comes from creator Stephen Belber, who's known for his work on projects like The Laramie Project, O.G., Rescue Me, Tommy, and What We Do Next. In the series, Domingo stars as political media pundit Muncie Daniels, whose life is turned upside down when he finds a body in the woods and becomes a suspect for the crime he didn't commit. What results is a dangerous conspiracy.

As much as we still see Michael J. Fox at various events – whether to bring awareness to Parkinson’s or partake in Back to the Future reunions – we still miss him. That is, we miss seeing him perform. While Fox hasn’t had a substantial role on the big screen since 1996’s The Frighteners – made a few years after his Parkinson’s diagnosis and two years before he even announced it – he has leaned into television with recurring roles on shows like Boston Legal, Rescue Me and The Good Wife, all of which earned him acclaim. And just like we miss seeing him on screens both big and small, Fox himself misses certain aspects of the art.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Michael J. Fox said what really misses about acting is the collaborative process that a set brings, saying, “You go into something and you say, ‘I know what to do here,...

Fox's hilarious workplace sitcom Animal Control has delivered the laughs across its first two seasons, and the Joel McHale series returns for season 3. Set in the precinct of Seattle's animal control, the series follows a jaded former cop named Frank (McHale), who responds to various animal-related emergencies throughout the Emerald City. Capitalizing on Joel McHale's easy charm as a sitcom lead, Animal Control has taken its simple premise and presented a thoroughly enjoyable slice of light TV.
Like most sitcoms, the critical response to Animal Control has been somewhat middling, but it has drawn a strong audience to the comedy-heavy Fox network. Though series set in a particular workplace are common, Animal Control is a workplace sitcom that goes above and beyond by spoofing the industry as well as presenting an exaggerated view of the types of emergencies real-life animal control officers face each day. High Potential star Daniel Sunjata candidly addresses a possible romance between his character, Detective Adam Karadec, and Morgan Gillory. The popular detective drama, which is based on the French series Hpi, has broken records for ABC. Each episode has averaged more than 10 million viewers, while the premiere has reached more than 20 million viewers to date. Part of the procedural's undeniable appeal is the chemistry between Karadec and Gillory (Kaitlin Olson), who have an antagonistic but ultimately collaborative partnership.
In an interview with Screen Rant's Rachel Foertsch, Sunjata addressed a possible romance between Morgan and Karadec. The Rescue Me alum shared that he could see it happening, explaining how their type of relationship is a common favorite for television fans. In the quote below, however, Sunjata also leaves room for the possibility that they may not get together:

Given Breaking Bad‘s reputation, one would assume that networks might’ve been on their toes to claim the Vince Gilligan-led production, but this couldn’t be more far from the truth. While Gilligan’s pitch for the crime drama succeeded in getting Sony Pictures Television execs on board, things didn’t go exceptionally well when it came to his search for a network.

As Emmy Award winner Colman Domingo heads toward his second consecutive Best Actor Oscar nomination, the “Sing Sing” star will likely dominate the holiday season Netflix charts with “The Madness.” The drama series with a juicy premise debuted its first teaser on Monday, one month before its streaming debut.
Domingo, an Oscar nominee this year for Netflix’s “Rustin” and an expected contender in 2025 for the A24 prison drama, stars as Mncie Daniels on the series “a political consultant-turned-tv pundit who may have lost his way in life.”
But wanderlust is the least of Muncie’s issues, as the Netflix plot description reveals: “While on a work sabbatical in the Poconos to write the great American novel, Muncie finds himself the only witness to the murder of a well-known white supremacist, and now he’s being framed for the crime. "Lost Verizon" is a very 2008-style "Simpsons" episode. It takes place during that period where cell phones were becoming the norm, even among kids Bart's age, and bases its first act around Bart trying (and eventually succeeding) to get his hands on one. The fact that the cell phone's a flip phone immediately dates the episode, which is a shame because flip phones were very cool in the 2000s, and they allowed you to hang up angrily with dramatic, cinematic gusto. Nevertheless, the episode's main storyline ages perfectly: It's about Marge deciding to use Bart's phone to track his every move, a prescient commentary on the way cell phones have restricted kids' privacy despite their original promise of freedom.
But before "Lost Verizon" can deal with all of that, it must first introduce us to Denis Leary, the famous Massachusetts actor from "Rescue Me" and "Ice Age." Leary shows up at the Springfield golf course,...

Law & Order season 26 features a small but significant cast of characters who drive the action in every episode. For almost a quarter of a century, this series has focused on the police and court aspects of the justice system. It is most closely associated with Sam Waterston, who is, unfortunately, one of the Law & Order cast members who is not returning for season 26. However, most of the cast in this series is returning, and one new cast member is being added..
Law & Order has always focused more on police procedural aspects than on character-driven stories; thus, the police and cops in the show are easier to replace when an actor leaves. It has had its share of cast turnover, most notably when Chris Noth left Law & Order over a contract dispute. Chicago Fire will air its 13th season when the series returns to NBC in a few weeks. While the characters have been through various ups and downs in their careers, fans have been wondering if Lieutenant Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) will ever get promoted to Captain.
Showrunner Andrea Newman recently addressed fan concerns, telling TV Line that the character is focused on other things for now. "He's got his focus on the thing he is obsessed with, which is arson and Ofi, in addition to squad, which he loves," she explained. "There's a lot of politics the higher you go up in rank, and Severide has no interest in that. He's a get-your-hands-dirty kind of guy. So arson is still very much on the forefront of his mind, the possibilities of moving to Ofi are at the forefront of his mind, and all of that comes up. He's dealing with all of that this season.
