A Group of Travellers arrive in a small village, and find they're met with hostility. When it's time to leave, one very elderly traveller opts to stay, together with her young granddaughter Kizzy.

Having been made to attend school, Kizzy is struggling to adapt, and is being bullied constantly.

Kizzy's case goes to court, and Mrs Cuthbert does her best to stir things - but there is a possible solution offered.

Bonfire night arrives, and it seems that Kizzy has finally turned a corner with the local girls - but an accident threatens everything.
