“I wish my d*ck would just leave me alone.” No, really, that’s the first key line of dialogue in Cam Gigandet’s “Bad Johnson.” Purporting to be a comedy (!?), the movie is about a charismatic womanizer who receives his comeuppance after his penis mysteriously leaves his body and takes human form. No, really. And then his penis, well, turns into a total dick. "It's me your penis," Gigandet’s penis (played by a bearded Nick Thune) says at one point greeting him in his car. The rest of the trailer is… special. Very, very special. Directed by Huck Botko (“Mail Order Wife”), written by Jeff Tetreault and co-starring Jamie Chung and Kevin Miller, you have to see this trailer to believe it. This just looks spectacularly… wrong is perhaps the PC way to put it. Early contender for Razzie of the year? Indie distribs Gravitas Ventures is actually...

FX has given 10-episode series orders to two new comedies -- "Married," starring Judy Greer and Nat Faxon, and "You're the Worst," from "Weeds" executive producer Stephen Falk. The new shows, both from FX Productions, will premiere on the network in July. "Married" comes from Andrew Gurland (of the found footage movies "Mail Order Wife" and "The Virginity Hit"), and stars Greer and Faxon as Lina and Russ Bowman, best friends fighting to hold their marriage together in the face of suburban woes and a lack of a sex life. Greer's no stranger to FX -- she voices Cheryl/Carol on "Archer." Jenny Slate and Brett Gelman co-star as another married couple. Gurland wrote the script for and directed the pilot, and is executive producing the series alongside Paul Young and Peter Principato. "You're the Worst" is a love story between two self-destructive, toxic people (Chris Geere and Aya Cash...

FX is continuing to expand its comedic resume. In all the very best ways.
First, it tapped Billy Crystal to headline The Comedians. Then, yesterday, it announced a new project for Tracy Morgan. Now, it has found a project for TV Fanatic favorite Judy Greer.
A voice on Archer and one of the many Arrested Development Season 4 guest stars, Greer will star on an untitled sitcom from Andrew Gurland (Mail Order Wife). It will center around Greer's Lina and Nat Faxon's Russ, a married couple who has a few problems in the bedroom.
According to a Hollywood Reporter descriptions, Greer's tired mother of three will give her husband permission to fulfill that need elsewhere... and comedy will ensue!

Reported today by Coming Soon is the news that Columbia Pictures will be the home for Wheels, the new original project from Andrew Gurland and Huck Botko. The tandem is most recently known for writing and producing The Last Exorcism, which made an impressive showing at the box-office considering its minuscule budget. To date, the duo’s directing credits include Mail Order Wife and The Virginity Hit.
The film is described as “a high school road movie” that “will follow” the tandem’s reputation for creating “low-budget films that appeal to broad audiences.” Nothing else is known of the story itself, other than the fact that it is an original premise. Will Ferrell and Adam McKay will co-produce the film.
Currently, Gurland and Botko are working on The Funhouse, which, according to IMDb, will be released in 3D and directed by Eli Roth.
What do you think of the team’s work thus far?...

Your first time is not always your best time. Perhaps the audience for The Virginity Hit, the new mockumentary by veterans of the genre Huck Botko and Andrew Gurland, is not your local cinema on a Friday night. Arguably the film is best under the influence of something – in a dorm room on a Thursday night. It would explain the thin character development that launches us into comic situations without the contextualization of knowing these characters. Therefore they are not as funny as they might have been.
The film plays like a string of You Tube clips posted: essentially four friends share a sacred bong, once each looses their virginity, a celebratory toke is had. The last is the geekiest (ironically dating the hottest girl in the group), Matt (played by Matt Bennett. Matt is the adopted after his mother passes away, and his recovering drug addict father steals his college fund.

“When the four of us entered high school,” teenaged filmmaker Zack notes sadly as The Virginity Hit opens, “we were all virgins.” Well, duh: You were 14 years old. I suspect that there’s meant to be something amusing in the idiotic desperation of Zack and Matt, his best friend, when a few years pass by and Matt is the only poor schmoe still left untouched by female flesh. But there isn’t. There is only that unvarnished idiotic desperation, which receives a hearty we’re-all-boys-here slap on the back, as if we’re all so intensely invested in Matt’s virginity and the losing of it that will consume the 90 minutes that follow. The Virginity Hit is meant to look as if it’s made up of a series of YouTube found objects, as budding Scorsese Zack (Zack Pearlman) obnoxiously camcords every last moment of Matt’s (Matt Bennett) quest to get laid,...

Produced by Eli Roth and directed by Daniel Stamm The Last Exorcism is a film made in the style of a documentary and the subject is Cotton Marcus, a preacher who agrees to carry out one last exorcism to show the world the truth behind them.
The Last Exorcism has been very successful in the Us and has an ending that has divided audiences. We were lucky enough to get talk to both Eli Roth and Daniel Stamm about the film and its ending. There are therefore quite a few spoilers throughout.
Eli Roth’s involvement.
ER: Originally the producers Marc Abraham and Eric Newman brought the script to me as it was a project that they had developed and Studio Canal said that they would step in to finance the movie if I got involved. Originally the writers were attached to direct and I loved their film, Mail Order Wife.

As documentary-style horror The Last Exorcism heads to UK cinemas, Luke meets with director Daniel Stamm and producer Eil Roth to chat about making the perfect screen horror…
He's ushered in a new wave of gore-filled horror, is best pals with Quentin Tarantino, and popped up in Piranha 3. Now, Eli Roth has donned his producer hat to bring us The Last Exorcism.
We caught up with him and the film's director, Daniel Stamm, to talk comedy in horror, going 'method', and how you top The Exorcist? (Hint: you don't.)
How did the film come about? The script came to you first, Eli, is that right?
Eli Roth: Well, actually it was producer Eric Newman who had the idea years ago. He wanted to do this documentary of an exorcism gone wrong. He developed the script at Strike Entertainment and Eric and I started a company called Arcade and we...

Roughly two weeks ago now I had the chance to take part in a series of round table interviews with the cast of Daniel Stamm's The Last Exorcism as well as producer Eli Roth. The cast interview is available here and now we've got our conversation with Eli ready for you as well. Read on!
Q: The Last Exorcism wasn't as bloody and visceral as I thought it may be. It was much more cerebral.
ER: Yeah. Well I've made it very clear to people that the film is about possession, not powertools. This is not Hostel 3, so people should not go in expecting a gory bloodbath.
I think every story has it's own appropriate level of violence. Pirahana 3D is a magnificent bloodbath. It's beautiful, it's spectacular, it's the most blood ever in a movie and it's wonderful, but that's because it's appropriate for that movie and that story.

Judging by the tight security at The Last Exorcism's Canadian premiere at Fantasia and Alliance Films' infrared cameras pointed at the audience throughout for reaction shots for an intended Paranormal Activity-like marketing campaign (which has yet to be seen, by the way), one would think the film is some kind of genre-defining masterpiece. And it almost is. Working from a script by Andrew Gurland and Huck Botko (Mail Order Wife), director Daniel Stamm (A Necessary Death) works the "found footage" angle in this faux-documentary about a doubting preacher (Patrick Fabian, TV's Big Love) out to show the world that exorcisms - the ones he became famous for performing, at least - are a fraud. Picking one last case of "possession" for his swan song, he sets out with camera crew in tow to expose his ruse. This being a Hollywood film, with Eli Roth (director of Cabin Fever...

&ALionsgate made a major move today by grabbing U.S. distribution rights to The Last Exorcism, a verite-style horror pic originally titled Cotton that was produced by Strike Entertainment, StudioCanal and genre maven Eli Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever). The deal is said to include a high-six-figure advance and a $16 million P&A commitment -- meaning big time theatrical release. Helmed by German director and AFI grad Daniel Stamm, the flick stars Patrick Fabian as a troubled evangelical minister who allows his final exorcism to be filmed by a documentary crew. It will premiere at the SXSW Film Festival this March. The project, which shot in Louisiana, has had horror fan sites salivating for months at the prospect of a scary, shaky-cam-style film shepherded by "Hostel" helmer Roth. "Mail Order Wife" helmers Huck Botko and Andrew Gurland scripted. (At an early stage, they also were attached to direct.)...

If you love horror, then you've got to check this out. Bloody-Disgusting got their hands on the first photo from the Eli Roth produced exorcism movie Cotton. We first featured a sales poster for this from Cannes back in May, but haven't heard much since. Bd explains that it's "a Cloverfield-inspired exorcism movie" about an evangelical minister who turns against religion and decides to participate in a documentary in which he practices his last exorcism. Some photos have been floating around already, but this one is just crazy! At first I thought she was impaled on some spikes, but it's just the possessed girl bent backwards. Cotton is directed by A Necessary Death director Daniel Stamm and co-written by Huck Botko and Andrew Gurland, who together wrote and directed the 2004 comedy Mail Order Wife previously. This film stars Patrick Fabian, Iris Bahr, Louis Herthum, Ashley Bell, Tony Bentley, Caleb Jones,...
