Bow Down To The Clown

While Twisted Metal 4 gets a lot of hate because it was made by 989 Studios, I basically loved it. Twisted Metal III was one of two games in the franchise I consider the worst (the other being Twisted Metal PS3), Twisted Metal 4 fixes a lot of the mistakes made in TMIII. The battlegrounds are bigger, more weapon pick-up have been added that add more strategy to battles, and the game even lets you create your own vehicle to use (a feature I wish would make a return). One of the downsides is that the roster is completely newcomers, with some cool characters like Orbital, Pizza Boy, and even Rob Zombie, but some stinkers like Captain Grimm (basically Mr. Grimm turned into a pirate), Drag Queen (who I hate for being a blatant stereotype), and Microblast (who is easily the weaskest vehicle in the game), the controls are different (you have to press X to accelerate and triangle to reverse), and some of the bosses can be cheap (especially Sweet Tooth in the final level).

The game that brought back the attitude of the original
MovieAddict201623 May 2005
"Twisted Metal 3" sucked. Everyone hated it. It got awful reviews, 989 was practically castrated for their poor efforts. In 1999, a year later, they decided to get it right -- and totally kicked a$$. "Twisted Metal 4" is a bad, bad game -- but in a good way. It's got a bad attitude, a loud rock music soundtrack, gnarly explosions, and awesome levels.

It's the best "Twisted Metal" game except for "II" -- the gameplay is addictive and fun, the levels are extremely well designed. On top of that the new vehicles are great and you can even play as Rob Zombie.

Overall I'd rank this as the second-best of the entire series and say that it was definitely a nice sign-off for the "Twisted Metal" series on original Playstation. (Number five is coming out now on PS2, I heard.)

Addictive and Fun, the Best in the Series
FilmCreature28 June 2007
I, in 2007, am just writing this review for a Playstation 1 game. Twisted Metal 4 was extremely fun to play, and although it can be very hard to beat all the way through (you can't save!) it is still very addictive and fun. The graphics were very nice for the time, and the weapons options are good enough. But the true charm of TM4 is blowing up your friends. It's a very, very fun multiplier game. I used to play it all the time with my dad and brother; but don't get me wrong, the main game is still great.

So yeah, I just decided to look it up and review it. If somehow, you can get a hold of this game, I would highly suggest it.

9 lethal clowns out of 10.
