When Anurag Kashyap was ousted from Salman Khan's 'Tere Naam'
Image
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, whose film ‘Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat’ released recently, has shared that he was ousted from the Salman Khan-starrer ‘Tere Naam’. He also spoke about his most loved films of Salman Khan.

It was around 2002 when Anurag was hired to direct ‘Tere Naam’. Given his penchant for realism, he wanted Salman Khan to not shave his chest as the character of Radhe hailed from Uttar Pradesh where men are known to be very raw in terms of appearance.

However, Salman being a superstar didn’t agree with Anurag’s idea as he has an image to maintain for his fans. After the producer of the film got to know how Anurag told Salman to not shave his chest, Anurag was thrown out of the film unceremoniously.

But, Anurag has no grudges. He told YouTuber Samdish Bhatia that he admires films like ‘Sultan’, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘Dabangg’. In fact,...

There is just something magical about seeing your favourite celebrity perform live for you on stage. There is this connection as they dance sing or even just speak on stage that brightens up the night and mesmerises us. Now add in 5 big names on 1 stage and you get the Da-Bangg Tour.

The night began with a dance performance by Shiamak Sydney Dance Troupe to get the beat bumping. A medley of new and old tunes including ‘Tamma Tamma’ and ‘Laila Main Laila’ was well received, but after starting late, the audience was itching to see their beloved stars.

Then came Manish Paul in his only solo dancing routine for the Dabangg intro song. Not quite a theme song but he introduces everyone to arrive on stage like pre-performance hype. It seemed like he would be the weakest link to the whole night. Yet the host/actor doesn’t disappoint. He...

Thats Salman Khans way of getting attention for my film - Vinay Sapru
Sudesh Berry, Murli Sharma, Siddhant Ghegadmal, Harshvardhan Rane, and Mawra Hocane in Ich schwöre, dich für immer zu lieben (2016)
Ever since Salman Khan posted on Twitter a message saying his friend director Vinay Sapru had 'churaoed' a song from the Salman starrer Tere Naam for Vinay's film Sanam Teri Kasam, there has been plenty of buzz on whether Salman has accused Vinay Sapru of plagiarism.

But Vinay who has been closely associated with Salman for years, having co-directed (along with Radhika Rao) the songs of several Salman starrers including Dabangg, says this was Bhai's way of drawing attention to Sanam Teri Kasam.

Says Vinay, "When I expressed a desire to show Salman Khan my film Sanam Teri Kasam, the first thing he said was that it reminded him of his own film Tere Naam. He then wanted to know why I had not gone to him before to get attention for my film. But there is always a long line of favour seekers at Salman's place. I didn't want to add to it.

Sooraj-Athiya Shine In Advani’s Insightful Remake – S K Jha reviews Hero
Pyar karne wale kabhi darte nahin jo darte hain woh pyar karte nahin. 32 years ago Meenakshi Sheshadri had lip-synced Anand Bakshi’s famous words about boundless, unchained, unstoppable love.

Now it’s the striking debutant Athiya Shetty who mouths these words, though we don’t see her saying it. Just feeling it.

Which is really in the fitness of things. This 2015 adaptation of Subhash Ghai’s 1983 musical blockbuster captures the impish bustle and the unbridled impetuousness of first love from the original, and merges these into something slightly sinister and dark.

Because, folks this is 2015. Love at first sight is not a tenable target for a lifetime of togetherness. There are more practical considerations to be gone through before love conquers the pay cheque. Nikhil Advani’s remake of a film about a highly melodratic love is rendered into practical pastel pastiche of passion pain and rebellion.

Hero looks and feels posh.

Happy Birthday Salman Khan!
Actor Salman Khan celebrates his 49th birthday today. Ever since the flamboyant ‘bad boy’ of Hindi Cinema made his debut in 1988 with the film Biwi Ho To Aisi, he has always maintained a good balance between his work as a entertainer and his work as a humanitarian.

Khan is one of the biggest stars in the Hindi film industry. After his debut he impressed with his roles in films like Maine Pyaar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Saajan, Karan Arjun, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Phir Milenge, Tere Naam and Khamoshi. While he had a loverboy image in the nineties, he completely transformed into an action hero in recent years.

Trendsetter

Khan increasingly appeared as the larger-than-life hero who single-handedly saved the world from all political games, while he beats up an army of bad guys on his own.

The films he did contained bizarre action sequences we had only...

Salman Khan and Bhoomika Chawla in Tere Naam (2003)
In a Salman Khan inspired scene Sooraj Pancholi crops off his hair for Hero
Salman Khan and Bhoomika Chawla in Tere Naam (2003)
For a scene, showing his torture in police custody in Nikhil Advani's Hero, Sooraj Pancholi will crop his hair exactly the way Salman Khan had done in his scenes of confinement in a mental asylum in Satish Kaushik's Tere Naam. This will be Advani's and Pancholi's homage to Salman Khan who is the producer of Hero re-make. Apparently, Nikhil Advani was keen to have Salman do a guest appearance in this film. But there was no role for the superstar. The Tere Naam asylum look is the director and Sooraj's way of getting Salman into the picture. Says the source close to the project, "Sooraj was made to wait until the entire shooting was over, so he could crop off his hair for the jail sequence. The earlier plan was to shave off his head completely. But now Sooraj will sport Salman's look from Tere Naam for the scene of police torture.
