Aftab had signed Venus Productions film co starring Chandrachur Singh and Preeti Jhangiani. This was to be directed by Sameer Malkan. The film was eventually shelved. There is speculation that this film was in fact the 2003 film "Hungama". With Akshaye replacing Chandrachur and Rimi replacing Preeti Jhangiani and Priyadarshan replacing Sameer Malkan.
Nandu (Aftab Shivdasani's character)'s father's name is Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, which is a reference to another popular Priyadarshan comedy movie Herapheri from 2000. It's shown in the classified that Popat Seth reads in the newspaper about Chandu's disappearance.
The character of Aftab & the character of Paresh Rawal never shared the screen with each other throughout the movie, even though both are main characters (like Rimi Sen and Akshaye Khanna).
The song " Chain Aap Ko Mila" was earlier recorded for the film Sanam O Sanam in 1993. The film starred Vinod Khanna, Reena Roy, Ronit Roy,Javed Jaffery, Indrani Banerjee. Music by Nadeem Shravan. The film was produced by Barkha Roy ( Reena Roys sister). When the film got shelved,Nadeem Shravan took the song and included it in the soundtrack of Footpath (2003). They then rerecorded it with singer Shaan for Hungama..

Saif Ali Khan was offered Akshaye Khanna's role but was forced to decline due to scheduling conflicts.
