The film was started in 1984 and was meant to be a quickie. Producer Santosh signed Kawal Sharma because he was a assistant of Manmohan Desai. Santosh allowed Kawal to sign outside films as he wanted him to succeed as a director. But Kawal Sharma decided to play games and stopped giving dates for the film. He would shoot for a few hours then make excuses why he had to leave. He would encourage the cast not to give dates. For example to day the producer kept calling Manik Irani to report for shooting. Manik used the excuse that his mother was sick. Later that day the producer heard that Manik was shooting for Mar Mitenge. When confronted Manik said that Kawal told him to lie. The producer told the media that Kawal's fiance Roshni was playing a vamp in the film that required her to do hot scene's. This was the reason Kawal did not want to do the film. When Kawal gave his side of the story he said the producer did not have funds for close to two years to shoot the film. By the time funds were available, Kawal was busy with other film. Later the producer Santosh removed Kawal from the film and completed the film.
Akbar Khan was offered the film but he demanded too much money. Rajiv Kapoor was then signed.
Farita Boyce replaced Roshni.
Rajiv Kapoor and Kimi Katkar shared cold vibes shooting the film due to a comment Raj Kapoor made about Kimi in the print. Raj Kapoor said that Kimi would be in the industry for "10 days". Implying she was using her body to make a career. Kimi responded her career was running longer and better than his son Rajiv.
Tina Munium shot for more than half the film and opted out. She was getting married and told the producer she would not be available after marriage. She was finally replaced by Kimi Katkar.
