Though our younger viewers may know her better for her friendship with Kim Kardashian, the spotlight shone brightly on Paris Hilton, especially in the early 2000s. But was she just “famous for being famous”, or is there more to this Paparazzi Princess?
Like her friend Kim, Paris Hilton’s fame was bolstered by the infamy that comes from being the star of a wildly popular
sex tape, 2004’s cleverly-titled 1 Night in Paris. “That’s Hot.” As with Kim Kardashian, questions remain even decades later about whether the video was released intentionally to capitalize on her growing fame. For her part, Paris has since denied consenting to the video’s release and has settled out-of-court for the damage to her image and reputation. Perhaps the grossest thing about the video (bear with me) is that it opens with a title card that says “In memory of 9/11/01… We will never forget.” Seriously.

Former Netflix Head of Comedy Jane Wiseman is joining Jane Featherstone and Liz Murdoch‘s Sister entertainment group in a newly created position as Head of U.S. Television. Based in Los Angeles, Wiseman will report to Cindy Holland, Sister’s Global CEO, and will lead the company’s U.S. television business, specifically focused on development and production of premium scripted series.
This is the second senior member of Holland’s executive team at Netflix, where she led original TV content for many years, that she has brought to Sister since joining the company in July. In October, Efrain Miron was named to another newly created position as President, Strategy and Business Affairs, with a focus on the U.S. studio and portfolio companies.
Building out Sister’s U.S. operation under Holland has been a major priority as the company is plotting further expansion and a path to profitability.

Nicole Richie has been a “diehard fan” of the 1991 cult comedy “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead” for as long as she can remember.
“I’ve been quoting this movie my whole life,” she says.
And now, life has come full circle because the former “Simple Life” reality television icon stars in director Wade Allain-Marcus’ “Don’t Tell Mom” remake as fashion company boss Rose.
The new film stars Simone Joy Jones as Tanya, a 17-year-old whose summer plans are upended when her mom (“Ms. Pat” star Patricia Williams) checks herself into a health retreat. Things completely unravel when the babysitter, played by Oscar nominee June Squibb, hired to take care of Tanya and her siblings suddenly dies.
“When I heard it was going to be a remake, I was like, ‘What does this mean?’” she says. “So I jumped on a Zoom with Wade and he was like, ‘This...

When Renee Poche received word that she'd been cast on Love Is Blind, the Texas veterinarian was excited about the opportunity to find a partner -- and maybe a modicum of fame -- on Netflix's most popular dating show.
But as she explains in a new interview with Variety, Poche soon found herself in a hellish situation involving abuse, isolation, and some very messy legal drama.
According to legal documents filed by Poche, the nightmare began when production staff seized her phone, passport, and driver’s license and proceeded to lock her in a hotel room.
Poche says her safety was further compromised when she was pressured into an abusive relationship with Carter Wall, a fellow contestant who made his way through the show's vetting process despite being unemployed, unhoused, and addicted to multiple substances.
Poche's story might be more horrifying than most, but sadly, her situation is not...

Last week's announcement that Paris Hilton would be partnering with Elon Musk's X (formerly and still more widely known as Twitter) for content-creation opportunities was a reminder that we are 20 years into the great Paris Hilton fame project. The Simple Life, the reality show that took Paris from the New York City gossip pages to network reality TV, premiered December 2, 2003 on Fox. In the two decades since that cultural blip, pop culture gatekeepers have continuously attempted to establish Paris as a viable television personality. And despite the fact that her contemporaries and even less-glamorous family members have legitimately thrived on reality TV, none of the projects centered around her have taken off.

It’s been exactly one year since the final season of “Bling Empire” premiered, and reality TV veteran Jeff Jenkins, who has executive produced shows ranging from “The Simple Life” to “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” looks back at the Netflix series about affluent Asian Americans as one of his most personal and proudest projects.

That’s hot! Are you ready to get reacquainted with The Simple Life and House of Wax actress Paris Hilton? A24 hopes so, because the studio is optining the rights to socialite’s memoir for a TV series adaptation. According to Deadline the deal for Ms. Hilton’s memoir is in the neighborhood of six figures, with Hilton’s media company 11:11 Media, Dakota and Elle Fanning’s Lewellen Pictures, and David Bernad’s Middle Child Pictures producing. No writers have been assigned to the Paris Hilton memoir project, but with the WGA strike resolved, I’m sure they’ll find someone soon.
Paris The Memoir acts as a tell-all from the media princess, focusing on her struggles with Adhd, her rise to fame and the heat of the pop culture spotlight, and trying to live a life while under constant scrutiny from fans, paparazi, and people looking to capitalize on her fame.

Reality television producer Jeff Jenkins has worked with a lot of big personalities in his career, including the Kardashians, Paris Hilton and Mariah Carey. His newest show, Bravo’s “Luann and Sonja: Welcome to Crappie Lake,” features former “Real Housewives” Luann de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan. But despite their reputations — de Lesseps is a former countess and Morgan was married to Jp Morgan’s great-grandson, after all — Jenkins found himself surprised by the just how down to earth the duo were.
Check out TheWrap’s interview with Jenkins below to learn how the duo was cast and if they really stayed in that motel while filming.
Did you watch “The Real Housewives of New York” prior to working with Luann and Sonja?

One of the architects of reality TV is leaving his position.
Mike Darnell, president unscripted television at Warner Bros. TV, is leaving the studio after 10 years. The former Fox executive says his departure comes after conversations with Wbtv Group chairman and CEO Channing Dungey.
“Channing approached me a couple of months ago, and although I was given the opportunity to stay, it would have meant more changes for both my personal deal and to the general structure of the division,” Darnell said in a statement. “Call it fate, or just good timing, during my discussions with Channing, a couple of new ventures have come my way. Even so, deciding to leave was difficult. (Those who know me know I am not a fan of change.) I want to thank my amazing studio team. Sonja Morgan and Luann de Lesseps don’t exactly fit in at the Barn Bar in Benton, Illinois. With their high glam and penchant for putting on a show wherever they go, the Real Housewives of New York City stars decidedly stand out among the group of rugged, mud-loving men inside the local watering hole.
The stark contrast is part of the gimmick behind Bravo’s new reality series, Luann & Sonja: Welcome to Crappie Lake. Channeling the spirit of The Simple Life, these rich women go to a small town in order to experience a different way of living and get their hands dirty in the process. Two episodes in, the pair is already seeing the benefit of surrounding themselves with down-to-earth folks instead of self-involved New Yorkers.
“The people are cool and really authentic,” Luann says of the Barn Bar crowd, “which is different from what I’m used to.

Jonnie Davis is leaving ABC Signature.
Davis has been President of the Disney-owned studio since 2019.
He said it has been a “privilege” to work on shows such as ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, FX’s Fleishman Is In Trouble and Hulu’s This Fool.
The move, however, is not a precursor to merging ABC Signature and 20th Television and, despite a multitude of rumors, they will continue to operate as two separate divisions. The company is currently searching for a replacement for Davis.
Davis’ departure is a surprise given how close he has been to Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Dana Walden.
When he moved from 20th Television to ABC Signature, he was able to lure a handful of big-name talents across with him include Drew Goddard and Octavia Spencer.
Davis took over the role of President of ABC Studios in July 2019, four months after Disney’s $71.3B of key Fox assets and...

Paris Hilton is a name that is synonymous with the word “famous.” The heiress to the Hilton hotel empire has been in the spotlight for over two decades, from her infamous reality show to her fragrance and fashion lines.
In 2009, however, she made an unexpected guest appearance on the popular TV series, Supernatural, playing a fictionalized version of herself. Despite her limited acting experience, Hilton impressed the show’s creator, who praised her for being a “hell of a good sport.”
Paris Hilton starred in an episode of ‘Supernatural’
In Supernatural Season 5, Hilton appeared in the fifth episode titled, “Fallen Idols.” In the episode, Sam and Dean Winchester, the show’s protagonists, investigate a case where famous people’s dead bodies are coming back to life and killing their fans. According to IMDb, Hilton played herself, but with a twist. She was a pagan goddess that the Winchester brothers had to defeat.

Jeff Jenkins made his name in unscripted television as an executive producer of E!’s “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” among other shows. But he’d been thinking about starting his own production company for some time before exiting his position as co-president of Bunim-Murray Productions. His desire to entertain viewers and inspire meaningful conversations with his shows pushed him to take the leap.
“We get to tell stories that, once in a while, actually can help advance our human culture in a small way,” Jenkins told TheWrap for this week’s Office With a View.
That’s what he’s striving to do at Jeff Jenkins Productions, which he formed in 2018, a year after leaving Bunim-Murray, alongside 3Bmg Entertainment’s CEO Ross Weintraub and Chairman Reinout Oerlemans. 3Bmg co-produces the programming alongside Jenkins and his company, which operates out of 3Bmg’s production offices in Sherman Oaks.

Vanessa Hudgens is ushering in a new season: the season of the witch.
Hudgens is known for her triple-threat talents, from acting in “Spring Breakers” to singing in “Tick, Tick…Boom!” to dancing in “Grease Live!” and starring in franchises like Netflix’s “The Princess Switch” and Disney’s “High School Musical.” But her latest project is her most personal yet — she is embarking on a spiritual journey in Salem with her best friend, musician Gg Magree, for the unscripted film, “Dead Hot.”
“Dead Hot” — which premieres April 14 on Tubi — is a true passion project for Hudgens and Magree, who are fascinated with the spirit world and came up with the idea to document their experience together. In the film, the duo set out to Salem, Mass., where they explore witchcraft, ghost hunting and connect with spirits.
“It was a lot more personal than anything I’ve ever done,” Hudgens tells Variety.

For many, their first introduction to Paris Hilton was through her early reality TV show "The Simple Life." The series, which saw Hilton and pal Nicole Richie transplanted from their high-profile surroundings to live with middle-class families and work blue-collar jobs, is a time capsule of the early aughts. While the show - which is turning 20 this year - is beloved by many, it featured a very different Hilton than the world has gotten to know these past few years. And with the release of her deeply personal memoir, "Paris," a fully fleshed-out picture of the multihyphenate's triumphs and tribulations has formed.
