The story of eight-year-old killer Rhoda has chilled audiences for decades on the printed page, the stage, and both the small and big screens. Now Lifetime's looking to reintroduce Rhoda's wrath to modern audiences with a remake of The Bad Seed.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lifetime's The Bad Seed TV film remake is being written by Barbara Marshall (Exorcism Diaries). Mark Wolper (Bates Motel, 2004's Salem's Lot TV movie remake) is set to produce the project, which comes from Warner Horizon Television.
Lifetime's remake "centers on Kate, described as the perfect modern woman — a successful working wife and mother, always seeking to give the best life to her daughter. She is confronted with one problem she can’t overcome: her daughter is a relentless, murdering sociopath whose viciousness is matched only by her brilliance. Will Kate be able to learn the truth before it’s too late?"

Rutger Hauer (Hobo with a Shotgun, Blade Runner) is set to join the cast of HBO's True Blood for its upcoming sixth season. TV Line reports that, "Hauer will play Macklyn, a mysterious and sinister figure with deep ties to Sookie and Jason."
This is not the first blood sucking experience that Hauer has had. The Dutch actor starred in Salem's Lot, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, played Dracula in Dracula III: Legacy and Van Helsing in Dario Argento's upcoming Dracula 3D.
HBO premieres the sixth season on June of 2013. Having seen the last season, I know who Hauer will be playing and it should be pretty cool. Do you still watch True Blood?

I must be really out of the loop because I had no idea the Sean Bean post-apocalyptic survival monster movie The Lost Future premieres on Syfy this weekend. Looking at these two clips from this South African production, it looks to potentially be a considerable step up from the usual schlock Syfy typically unspools on their Saturday evenings.
Sean Bean might wish he was back in the Lord of the Rings shire when he finds himself amongst the few humans trying to survive in a primitive wasteland populated by behemoths and mutant manimals in this Syfy original from Mikael Salomon, director of the 2004 remake of Salem's Lot and 2008 remake of The Andromeda Strain.
A group of post-apocalyptic survivors struggle to survive in a world where jungles and forests and primeval wetlands and deserts have obliterated civilization. They staunchly face genetically mutating beasts and mysterious diseases in an attempt to re-establish...

Upcoming Film Scores lists the ten most exciting, promising and anticipated film scores of 2009, according to its editor Mikael Carlsson who can't wait to hear what will come out musically of these projects:
1. Avatar (James Horner)
Director James Cameron and composer James Horner are of course best known for the multi-zillion-whatever-megahit Titanic, but they also gave us Aliens in 1986 which stands out as one of the most exciting nailbiter scores in sci-fi history. On that film, Cameron gave Horner a pretty hard time as judging from the composer interview on the special edition DVD, and basically what you hear in the film is the result of a composer writing under enormous pressure. On Avatar, the situation is the complete opposite. A luxury in film scoring today, the total time given to the scoring process on this film will probably exceed one year! Horner is currently working exclusively on this film,...

The USA series Monk achieved its strongest season premiere yet, drawing 5.5 million total viewers Friday. The third-season bow squeaked by the second-season opener, which grabbed 5.4 million last June. Friday's Monk, starring Emmy-winner Tony Shalhoub, also reached 2.1 million 18-49 viewers, below last year's tally in that demographic. Still reigning as the most-watched Monk is the Jan. 16 episode that kicked off the second half of the second season, which nabbed 5.9 million viewers. It was TNT's turn to gloat Sunday with the opening installment of the two-part movie Salem's Lot, which landed 5.9 million viewers. That earned it the distinction of basic cable's most-watched movie year-to-date. In addition, it outscored ABC, CBS and NBC among adults 18-34.

Rob Lowe has saved his TV career thanks to Stephen King's horror classic Salem's Lot. The cult 1979 TV series starred David Soul as a vampire hunter and James Mason as a ghoul, and now Lowe is to play the bat stalker and Donald Sutherland his foe. Rutger Hauer and Babe star James Cromwell also appear in the new $12 million TV project. Lowe's latest TV role as a Washington DC lawyer in Lyon's Den has been a flop in America.

Teen Superman's powers will be put to the test by a serious dark force. Rutger Hauer, known for the gallery of formidable villains he has played on the big screen, has been tapped to do a two-episode arc on the WB Network's drama Smallville. He will play an underworld kingpin on the show from Tollin/Robbins Prods. and Warner Bros. Television. Hauer, who has turned in memorable performances in such movies as Blade Runner and The Hitcher, was most recently seen in George Clooney's Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. He also did a guest appearance on the ABC spy drama Alias this past season. Hauer recently wrapped Dracula Legacy for Dimension Films, in which he plays the title role, and TNT's adaptation of Stephen King's novel Salem's Lot. The actor, who won a Golden Globe for his role in the 1987 CBS telefilm Escape From Sobibor, is repped by Innovative Artists and Hyler Management.
The gruesome tale of the Manson Family murders is coming back to the small screen. CBS has greenlit Helter Skelter, a three-hour telefilm based on former prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi's book about the capture and trial of Charles Manson and three of his "family" members -- women that he had persuaded to do the killings for him. John Gray, who most recently penned and directed the CBS original movie Martin & Lewis, wrote the script for Helter Skelter and is set to direct. The film, from the Wolper Organization, will be the second screen adaptation of the book by the man who convicted Manson in the bloody 1969 Tate-LaBianca murders in Los Angeles, following the 1976 CBS movie starring Steve Railsback as Manson. "That adaptation focused on how Vincent Bugliosi got Manson," said Mark Wolper, who is executive producing the film. "Our movie now is the flip side of that. It focuses on who Manson is, why he did what he did and how he got people to kill for him." A search is now under way for an actor to play Manson. Wolper most recently executive produced the upcoming TNT telefilm Salem's Lot, starring Rob Lowe.
Variety reports that Donald Sutherland has joined the cast of TNT's remake of Salem's Lot, playing villain Richard Straker, an antiques dealer who comes to a small Maine town with an evil vampire companion. He joins Rob Lowe, Andre Braugher, Rutger Hauer, James Cromwell and Samantha Mathis in the miniseries, which is currently shooting in Australia under the direction of Mikael Solomon from a script by Peter Filardi.
