Strange, but fun action game.

I've never played the actual arcade machine of "Dynasty Wars", I've only played it on Winkawaks and MAME. I haven't seen it at any arcades, so it probably didn't do that well when it came out. Anyway, this game is based on Hiroshi Motomiya's "Tenchi Wo Kurau" manga, which takes place during ancient china. You're character(s) ride around on a horse and slash at various enemies. There are four characters to choose from Shang Fei, Liu Bei (I always pick him, 'cause he's my favorite), Kuan Yu, and Shao Yun. It's got good music and graphics in it. The US version has one flaw though:The voice acting's REALLY bad. It just sounds like one guy trying to do all the voices. And the noise it makes when you charge up your sword, fire a shot from the charged up sword, and do a rapid slash sounds like hyena. However, the voices in the Japanese one are more suitable. Needless to say, they're Japanese, but at least they don't sound as corny as the ones in the US version. But aside from all that, this is a good game. I've beaten it five times. Capcom made four other games based on the "Tenchi Wo Kurau" manga: A nintendo game called "Destiny Of An Emperor", which is probally the most recognizable of the series, another arcade game called "Warriors Of Fate", which is more like "Final Fight", a Game Boy game that wasn't released in the US, and a Super Famicom game that also wasn't released in the US. I don't know much about the manga though. How old is it? Was it translated into english? Anyway, I haven't seen Dynasty Wars in any arcades, and for that matter, I haven't seen Warriors of Fate either. But if you see either one of them, give em a try.
