'Who Wants To Be A Playboy Centerfold' originally aired on the FOX network in edited form. No nude content, alternate footage & room for commercials (90 mins). Then released on DVD uncensored (120 mins). Take a guess what version you should watch. Per the title it's a competition to find the next Playmate. July 2002 to be exact. The presentation is predictable, but has entertaining moments.
The company put out word and ladies came to audition. You're shown a NYC model search. Get to see candidates speak & get their pictures taken. Pose clothed, naked. Some get cut there and others move on waiting to hear back. It's quickly narrowed down to twelve in the first 15 minutes who are flown out to live next to the Playboy mansion in LA as the contest happens over the period of two weeks. You get a quasi-host in Ava Fabian - Playmate Aug 1986 - or as they call her "Bunny Mother" for the house. Every step of the way is based on the results of photo shoots judged by Playboy staff including Hef.
Done in that reality tv format comes the usual tropes. Personable one-on-one interviews, drama, fun, friendships and eliminations. There's nerves, smiles, tears. A lot of work goes into shooting a pictorial and this does a good job showing behind the lens. Unfortunately not all the ladies come off the best shattering the fantasy somewhat. Personalities & comments aside, they're all certainly attractive. Some are the 'girl next door' type and others have previous modelling experience. There's a heavy emphasis on blondes, but that's always been the case.
The nudity comes courtesy of trying on clothes, showers, few spontaneous moments & shooting of their pics. I wouldn't make it the main reason to watch. If that's your sole focus you'd be better served with one of their normal videos. You might not always agree with who gets cut too, but that's a matter of taste. There's a healthy mix of natural breasts & enhanced on route to crowning a winner.
