Indie filmmaker Jean-Claude Lamarre ("Gang of Roses," "Color of the Cross") is planning "Chocolate City," a project that is best described as an African-American take on the male stripper film "Magic Mike".
Michael Jai White ("Black Dynamite") and model-turned-actor Tyson Beckford are in negotiations to star in the tale of Devin, a young college student struggling to make ends meet who is convinced to give amateur night at a male strip club a whirl.
White will play the owner of the club who does the job of convincing Devin to give it a try. Beckford will play the club's former star attraction whose popularity is fading. There's also a subplot of Devin's religious upbringing and how it clashes with his newfound career.
Lamarre penned, will direct and is also slated to produce alongside Gabriel Casseus, Robert Aaronson and Rozina Negusei. The filmmaker says: "I researched the male exotic club scene...
