Unbelievably horrible.
lennox-94 January 2005
Dave H., for being a movie reviewer, you sure don't know the first thing about rating one.

"I'm a movie reviewer for a Massachusetts radio station. I recently saw Latin Kingz. This movie is a brutally realistic view of the street/ drug crowd with all of it's nasty behavior, womanizing and seedy undertones. It is rare to see a film come so close to portraying the reality of life on the Urban streets.

"The reality of life on the Ubran streets"? Are you kidding me? Was the "brutally realistic view," as you so elegantly put it, before or after the exploitation of porno shots from Latina girls parading around on the beach shore? Or was it in the 2 actual instances of confrontation (one being quelled just as quick as it began)? There was nothing "real" about this story, it was just another sub-par movie filmed on an extremely low budget. The "actors" (and I use that term loosely) were horrible, the plot was hackneyed, and the "violence," as it states on the cover, was minimum. This is basically a ghetto version of "Road Trip," which also sucked.

Come off it and come to your senses -- this movie defines all the things that makes a movie wretched. People, don't waste your money, time, or energy on this trash. Anyone who tells you this is good viewing is obviously misguided; don't fall into their trap.

A compilation of Latino stereotypes
garcia-113 August 2004
Warning: Spoilers
I bought a copy of this DVD in the bargain bin at an FYE in downtown Manhattan, convinced that this flick would be a 2004 version of Blood In Blood Out....

WARNING - Potential spoilers below, although I will try not to reveal too much of the "plot", if you can even call it that.

This movie does not employ a script, so much as it is 90 minutes of Latino stereotypes. Every negative Latino stereotype you can imagine is put to use here, including your Cuban and Mexican gang bangers, drug dealers and pot smokers, Latino dishwashers, always horny and over-sexed Hispanic females, Mexican food giving people a bad case of the shits, etc. The storyline is pathetic and the movie was shot in porn-like quality film. It is difficult to determine what the exact point or message the film is trying to convey, as it switches from a rat race to recover a stash of drugs to hip-hop blaring scenes of women in bikinis jumping up and down on the beach and having fun in the sun.

Watch Empire, Blood In Blood Out, I Like It Like That, American Me, or All Night Bodega instead.

Was this a home movie?

Warning: Spoilers
I once did a high-school video project in one night that turned out a lot better than this. If this film can get distributed, then I need to send in my home movies when my girlfriends and I would film ourselves pretending we were cholas....in 4th grade after watch Mi Vida Loca. Because that would be more realistic and grittier than this film. Honestly, Burger King commercials are more entertaining. I have to say I think the good reviews for this movie are mistaking this title for a better film about the life of a Latin Kings leader. This film basically consists of some idiots who like to smoke and go to Florida, find some ho-bags and act like they are in middle school with them, giggling about "having sex" and stuff. The "gritty violence that is so realistic" consists of a guy being thrown into the water off a dock. For realz folks, watch this if you are really really drunk and want a good laugh. Or if you like brown sugar because the girls in this film are pretty hot, though completely vapid and laughable. This really looks like it was filmed for fun to be put on youtube and even then it would be embarrassingly bad. I kept hoping a third of the way through that it was just a really long D.A.R.E. advertisement or at times a bathing suit commercial. If I acted in this film, I would pray that my friends never found out about it.
