Revathi is from a village. Suresh comes from the city to his home town . His mother Vadivu wants a homely wife for her son . She chances upon Revathi who has a soft spot for animals . Impressed by her sensitive nature, she gets her married to her son Suresh . Suresh himself falls for her simplicity . Back in the big city they settle down for domesticity in his palatial house. He is a professional singer along with his group . Jeevitha is one of his co singers who has a silent crush on him. She is devastated at his marriage but keeps her feelings to herself .

His other three friends start a tirade against Revathi. They start salacious gossip about her. Jeevitha joins them believing that they have her good at heart and indeed Revathi is bad .

Her dog in her village Ramu misses her and manages to come to meet her in the city . Suresh dislikes this village dog as his own Pomeranian is posh and well bred.

After a few sad misunderstandings , Revathi is thrown out of her house by him. Local flower seller Gandhi mathi takes her in .

Jeevitha sees her time and tries to take over Suresh's life .

Revathi finds herself pregnant .

Twins and turns later , both Revathi and Suresh unite . Sarala and Senthil are their trusted servants who help in uniting the couple .

Radha Ravi comes in a small likable role as a robber . The two dogs form a large part of this movie . Their tactics are cute to watch .

Overall a fine family fare. Revathi invokes a lot of sympathy as a haggard wife. She had cornered the market of the silent sufferer all throughout the 80s easily .
