Choreography and songs are great, comedy is abysmal.
abbott322 March 2004
The choreography and songs make the film, the story is OK, and the comedy sequences have a high cringe factor since they are so bad and bring the film to a screeching halt. Had it not been for the "comedy" sequences, I would have probably given the film a 7 or 8 instead of a 6. Indra also did not have the look and feel of a film that was made in 2002 since the color and film quality did not have the crispness and vibrance that has been so characteristic of so many quality Indian films within the last four to five years. Chiranjeevi is great in this film, has terrific range, and his performance alone, besides the choreography and songs, is reason to watch this movie. If you fast forward some of the comedy sequences, you will not have missed anything since they add nothing to the rest of the story.

Action Packed Drama

Well, this movie is all about "Indrasena Reddy" who sacrifices everything for the public in Rayalaseema. Chiru does a one man show with his performance and dances. There are other notable performances but chiru's action and dances do the magic. There are a couple of scenes which cause to blood to boil, such great was the directors taking of them.

Indra is a excellent movie. It seems to be break all records of previous including chiru records. In this film Chiru do yaga for rain. On the release day i.e 24th July 2002, in AP,India rain came, so its great coincident. That is Chiru. That is Indra.

Faction genre pinnacle
alwaysrockstar11 July 2022
All meows are assumed to be roars before lion arrives.

It's at times over the top masala film directed and shot in old style. But you buy ticket to this genre fims for the very same reason...over the top action/ dialogues/ heroism/ set up. If you are looking for a pasta, stop even reading this review. It's not your cup of tea. This is a double masala Hyderabadi dum biryani.

Apart from meeting all the requirements, it also has a grand premise for this action film narrated in old school native style.

Now add to this, an all round male lead performer, two beautiful female leads, terrific songs coupled with extraordinary dances, great comedy, a social cause, knock down country style action, clap worthy dialogues, demi god like heroism....you name it, you have it. It's a feast when you know what to expect.

Usual Chiru flick
AvinashPatalay4 July 2006
Chiru's film have become a sandwich recipe - regular ingredients like opening solo song, two heroines (with songs equally divided), flashback and villains from Bollywood spread properly between the slices of bread.

The story is so very clichéd and predictable only this time it deals with the factions. As a leader of faction, Chiru is portrayed as a modern day King who is ready to sacrifice anything for the welfare of the people. The writer has taken far too much leniency thinking that they are penning for 70's/ 80's audience.

For some strange reason every Chiru movie has (both!) heroines drooling over him. Why? The villain killing his own son just because he was saved by the hero - is simple bad digestion.

Comedy track could have been improvised. Sunil is over-exposing himself. And Bramhanandam is already over-exposed.

S P Balasubramanian makes a good cameo appearance.

Sonali Bendra is pretty and coy. Aarthi Agarwal must have found acting easy as she was imitating Naghma in Gharana Mogudu. And apart from these two you have Puneet Issar (okay), Mukesh Rishi and Raza Murad from Bollywood.

As from any Chiru movies, dances are good.

I liked the young boy who was made to walk like Chiru when he takes over as a successor.

I presume that the fans of Chiru always order old wine in new bottle every time and that is precisely what is served here, yet again.

What is this and that too from Chiranjeevi?
vukkalamvinod19 April 2015
People avoid this film. Its a d grade film. Its an insult to mature audience.

I always liked Chiru and his films from the days of Pasivadi Pranam. I am from Rayalaseema and this film portrays Rayalaseema in such a bad light, gosh, one hour into the film I got headache and nausea. The film is full of ego and pompous from beginning scene to the end one. Except the comedy track from Brahmanandam, this film lacks humility.

Chiru has such a huge fan base and what sort of ethics and morality is he imbibing from this film. Being self-righteous and killing people that is his character in this film. There is this scene at the end of the film where he kills people then lectures the futility of violence and bloodshed. I can go on and on but the main point I want to highlight is: "audience avoid this film".
