tough guys don't dance... do they?

An interesting little film, coming from an area of the world not renowned for their gay-themed films (even though recently things are changing, with a sizable production from Brazil and the excellent "Contracorriente" from Peru. "Sargento Garcia" manages, in less than 20 minutes, to expose the homo-eroticism of the army life and to show the true view behind the Latino tough-guy machismo facade. The acting of the two leads is competent, however the actor portraying the drag queen is really over the top. If the production values were better and with more efficient editing, this could've been a very good movie. Still it's worth a look, if only for showing a part of the gay experience that is not frequently seen on film. Thank you for reading my effort at film-reviewing.

One of short films interesting for simplicity, poetry and a sort of idealism. maybe, for flaws to. a sergeant and a recruit. crumbs of realism. good dialogues. a motel room and a sort of initiation. but, maybe, the best part are the childhood flash backs. as explanations for the young man attittude. as frame for story. the end is more than seductive for its precise cultural reference. and the dose of cliches/humor are significant pieces for the interest for the film .
