Three Women in Love with the Same Man
Uriah433 June 2023
This film essentially begins with an attractive woman by the name of "Masuko" (Ayako Wakao) finding out that her lover "Asai" (Jiro Tamiya) is currently married. And even though she had certain suspicions about it, the thought of possibly breaking up a marriage wears heavily upon her conscience. For his part, Asai is not at all happy in his marriage and wants a divorce. The problem is that his wife "Ryuko" (Reiko Fujiwara) is emotionally unstable and the thought of a divorce is more than she can handle. Matters become even more complicated when Masuko allows her niece "Eiko" (Yaeko Mizutani) to move in with them and she becomes immediately attracted to Asai as well. Now, rather than reveal any more, I will just say that this was a solid drama for the most part which clearly benefited from the presence of Ayako Wakao who, I believe, was one of the most beautiful actresses of her time. It does, however, suffer from a bit of over-acting here and there, but in any case, I enjoyed this film for the most part and I have rated it accordingly. Slightly above average.
