Very well done documentary
ryancroc-29 April 2002
Having grown up in South Philly, the Mummers have been a part of my life ever since I can remember. I thought this documentary was very well done. It was touching, and very funny. Hopefully, more people will get a chance to see this movie and understand what the Mummers are all about. I particularly thought that the stills shown throughout the movie were great. It's just wonderful to see the ideas of tradition and community along with a little healthy competition are alive and well in South Philadelphia.

Shows the heart and soul of Mummery
Erinsaunt26 May 2002
A primer of sorts for the uninitiated and a chance to relive New Years Day for those of us fortunate enough to have been a part of it in the City of Brotherly Love. This short documentary features old black and white and new color footage from 2000 and many interviews with the Mummers, focusing on their loyalty, kinship, love of family, music, dance and Philly. I was unexpectedly moved to tears a few times, but on the whole the film is a tribute to fun and laughter and music, music, music. I recommend it!
