Let me be the first to comment on this enlightening gem!

What most people regard as Euro-trash, I will make a plea, a strong plea to denounce your prejudices and start watching these old Euoropean films for what they are worth. Even if they are dubbed and silly looking, they also can be quite thoughtful. Lessons for the lovelorn is about a nerdy, intellectual guy who unwittingly falls in love with the woman of his dreams. The course of this film is about his inane existence, his insecurities and his inability to fit in to the hip crowd. The setting is in charming Southern Italy of a run down town near a harbor. Although it can be painful to watch this drip of a man, being rejected and snubbed repeatedly, the narration is really clever and quite amusing. There are lots of pretty girls and chauvinistic men to fill the stew. It's a bit of a romantic comedy and also has a nice twist to the ending. I liked it.

I think this was a wonderful movie. Oh the drama, the action (kinda sorta), the comedy :) This is a true love story. The way life and love really go down.

I found this movie by accident. It was only rated 2 stars on Netflix but I figured what the heck. I'm so glad I did. At first I wasn't sure if I was watching some dubbed crazy Woody Allen-esque situation or what. But, after being introduced to the main character, I fell in love. His nerdy, quirky way was so endearing. This movie is a real gem, if you give it a chance. Definitely a movie I'm glad I was able to experience.
