Comedy for the post The Office generation
Conti1519 April 2005
If you like comedy to make you cringe in your seat then this is for you. Based on a British barbecue/summer party this is a one-off special from the Rob Brydon series "Marion and Geoff" . Here , to celebrate a recent elevation in work status by his wife , Keith (Brydon) throws a bash and all kinds of mayhem ensues . Well written and acted this film will make you slightly uncomfortable and is like watching a train crash - horrible but you can't take your eyes off it . If you like the embarrassing moments from show like "Fawlty Towers" and more recently "Knowing Me Knowing You" , "I'm Alan Partridge" and "The Office" you will not be disappointed with this gem.

It's a Cruel Summer

Warning: Spoilers
Prequel to the excellent 'Marion and Geoff' series. The camera moves out of Keith Barrett's car and into his family life, sadly for Keith, he should of kept the camera in the car. It's bleak stuff and not everyone's idea of comedy, but it's superb pathos and the acting really is all the better for being low key, it will make you squirm, and likely leave you feeling more than a little sad, but who says great comedy always has to be easy. It's an 'extra' on the Marion & Geoff Series Two DVD, if you enjoy that, or embarrassment comedy in general (for example The Office, Alan Partridge etc) then well worth picking up a copy.
