Ok perhaps I over did it with the title but this was the last double dragon game for the SNES to stay true to the martial arts and just make a complete brawl fest. If I didn't have a PS2, I'd still be playing this! This was part 4 of the series. Part 5 was a terrible tournament game based off of the cartoon series and you should see my review on that for further details! In any event, this game had awesome kicks, punches, weapon usage and aerial attacks that you and your buddy can enjoy for hours.
The Double Dragon series is one of the most unique fighting video games! The characters, the action, and the sure thrill of excitement makes this game a fun non-stop playing time! Below is a brief look how I think the game is!
Game Play: The game play is very good. There is really basic controls here and is easy to perform. Novice gamers should have a good time here!
Graphics: The graphics are wonderful especially for the Super Nintendo System! The backgrounds are really beautiful!
Difficulty: The game is easy but as it goes on you find out that it will become more difficult!
Music: The music is great! Just fantastic catchy tunes through out the game! In My opinion its some of the best music ever in a video game!
Sound: The sound is great. Nuff said!
Overall: I have always loved Super Double Dragon! If you like excellent fighting adventure games then I strongly recommend you play this game!

I got this game from my sister as a Christmas gift, sadly I wanted Street Fighter. This game was the cheaper of the two, so unfortunately this is the one I got and now I can only dream about having my very own copy of this game, one of the early releases for the Super Nintendo. Fortunately, it is a rather fun game in its own right as you can play this one co-op which was missing from at least the first Double Dragon game released on the Nintendo system. The fighting is rather basic and easy to do as my friends and I would plow through the enemies and sometimes each other as we battled the hordes of street thugs. The graphics are rather good for a Super Nintendo game, but far from being tops as this was one of the earlier games released on the system. The music is rather cool too, for a cartridge game. Cartridge games back in the day had cool music at times, but nothing that can really challenge a disc game of today. It was better than a lot of the early disc games though as they tend to keep repeating the same thing over and over again. So a nice fun fighting game, I would think of it more highly if I did not really want another fun fighting game.
I personally thought this was the best double dragon game of the first 3 sequels. The first one was extremely hard and it didn't have a 2 player mode (i know jimmy lee was bad in that one). The 2nd double dragon game had a 2 player option mode but you had to play it in supreme master mode which was really hard even with a friend. The 3rd double dragon game was extremely hard because you have no lives just a health bar and the bad guys are very strong especially the ones carrying the weapons, the bosses can inflict a lot of damage, the story was also confusing at times. Now super double dragon was the easiest and the most entertaining of the series, all of the enemies are easy i also like the stage settings and the music score.I highly recommend this one of the series.Skip part 5 the tournament edition based on the cartoon series it's nothing like the previous series.

- Alternate versionsTwo versions of the game exist. An American version of the game published by Tradewest and American Technos titled Super Double Dragon (also released in Europe) and a Japanese version by Technos Japan called Return of Double Dragon. Return of Double Dragon is the more complete version of the two, featuring two added areas to the final stages, refined gameplay (such as the ability to switch between weapons on the ground), different enemy ratio and an option mode which allows you to change the difficulty setting and listen to the soundtrack. The US version on the other hand, has a text-only ending not in the Japanese version (although this was not the ending the programmers planned for the game). The soundtrack is played in a different order in the US version (the Double Dragon theme is not played in the title screen like in the previous games, even though it's used in one of the stages).
