This Irish actor is too old:
This Irish actor is too young:
This English actor is too clean (and a little goofy):
But, this German/Irish actor is just right:
All you young whippersnappers out there, you rebels and lovers of anarchy, join me in taking a moment to acknowledge our forefathers: Punk bands. And hey, didja know that while The Ramones and The Clash and Sex Pistols were kicking it in New York and London, Belfast had its own music revolution breaking out via a record company called Good Vibrations? Founder and promoter Terry Hooley did his best to get new bands noticed outside of Northern Ireland; his greatest success was with The Undertones. Legendary radio personality John Peel loved their hit Teenage Kicks, giving it 28 stars (out of 5 and no, that's not a typo) and declaring it his favorite song.
So somewhat akin to 24 Hour Party People,...

Earlier this year, 20th Century Fox decided to move their prequel Rise of the Apes back to Thanksgiving weekend for a number of undisclosed reasons, but they've now changed their mind and the Rupert ( The Escapist ) Wyatt-directed movie starring James Franco, Freida Pinto and Andy Serkis will now get a summer release after all on August 5, 2011. That will put the movie up against Sony's The Smurfs (opening that Wednesday), the Universal body-changing comedy The Change-Up starring Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman, and the 3D sci-fi thriller The Darkest Hour from Summit. With those movies in place, David Gordon Green's comedy The Sitter will be moving to December 9, presumably to get away from the other comedy opening that weekend with the hopes of bringing in holiday...

For those of us lamenting the lack of new "Sherlock" episodes and the opportunity to see more of Benedict Cumberbatch, this news makes the day a little bit brighter. London's National Theater Live is giving us the opportunity to see performances of Danny Boyle's production of Frankenstein at theaters across the country (by some miracle, even close to me), even if we're nowhere near the UK. Nick Dear's ("Agatha Christie's Poirot, Persuasion) play, based on Mary Shelley's classic tale of a creature cast out into a cruel world by his creator, stars Jonny Lee Miller ("Dexter, Eli Stone," Trainspotting, The Escapist) and Cumberbatch (The Whistleblower, Four Lions). And in one of the coolest twist-ups ever, two performances will be recorded, each one featuring the lead roles reversed. That's right, one performance will feature Miller as the creature and Cumberbatch as the creator and the next, Cumberbatch as creature and Miller as creator.
