Dark thriller The G has been officially selected for Glasgow Film Festival and will celebrate its UK Premiere on 29th February 2024. Tickets are available now at glasgowfilm.org.
From writer, director Karl R. Hearne and 3Buck Productions, The G takes aim at how in today’s world the elderly can be routinely undervalued or taken advantage of. Dale Dickey (Hell or High Water, Winter’s Bone) takes the lead as the Ann Hunter aka ‘The G’, with a forceful performance and an unforgettable reminder of why you shouldn’t underestimate the elderly.
The G follows Ann and her husband, who retired to an unnamed American suburb 10 years ago to be near his family. But one day out of the blue they are snatched from their home by a corrupt legal guardian who believes they have hidden wealth.

On Feb. 20, 1939, more than 20,000 yelling, cheering people packed New York City’s Madison Square Garden. They weren’t there for a basketball game or a concert. They were supporters of the German American Bund, a pro-Nazi organization that was ready for an alternative to democracy. They waved Swastika flags and raised quite a ruckus. And they were hardly alone in their mission, as the new PBS American Experience documentary Nazi Town, USA makes abundantly clear.
While most Americans identified fascism and the Third Reich as existential threats to civilization, many...

[This story contains spoilers for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ fifth episode, “The Way Out.”]
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters star Anna Sawai has top billing on Apple TV+’s MonsterVerse spinoff series that also includes Kurt and Wyatt Russell. Her starring role is bookended by lead roles on the streamer’s critically acclaimed drama series, Pachinko, and FX/Hulu’s highly anticipated miniseries, Shōgun. Oddly enough, despite Shōgun’s February 2024 release date, Sawai shot Shōgun in Vancouver before Monarch’s own Vancouver shoot, and within 24 hours of wrapping Shōgun, she was already recreating Godzilla’s Golden Gate Bridge sequence from Gareth Edwards’ MonsterVerse starter, Godzilla (2014).
Sawai plays a San Francisco-based teacher named Cate Randa, who’s the granddaughter of John Goodman’s Kong: Skull Island character, Bill Randa. (Outside of Goodman’s flashback in the premiere, Anders Holm plays young Bill on the series.) And with Monarch taking a Rashomon-type approach to Edwards’ 2014 film, Cate and her students ended up being on...

Jada Pinkett Smith is remaining tight-lipped about the slap heard around the world. The actress recently discussed her memoir ‘Worthy’, and once again described her reaction to the infamous confrontation between Will Smith and Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars.
She said in an interview with CBS Mornings: “That’s a really deep subject. I think you’ve gotta be really careful about the ‘why’. That’s Will’s story to tell. Not mine”, reports Entertainment Weekly.
She continued: “So what I will say is that being there with him that night, what I did know, was that I might not have walked in there as his wife, but I left that night as his wife. And as I sit here today, I am going to be by his side, always.”
As per Entertainment Weekly, the highly scrutinised altercation came after Rock jokingly compared Pinkett Smith’s shaved head to...

Jonathan Bailey recently shared he was able to film Wicked during the American actors strike because he is in the Britsh actors union, Equity.
While the rest of the cast of the popular musical’s film adaptation were unable to shoot during the strike, Bailey spent four days on set and finished up some of Fiyero’s scenes. However, the crew had to get creative with his co-stars.
During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, the Bridgerton actor said it was a “pretty extraordinary” experience.
“I think we had 10 days left filming before the strike hit,” he told Cohen. “I was the only actor who was on an equity contract, so I had these four days where I came up and acted with people in wigs who were pretending to be [other actors].”

Sacha Baron Cohen, the actor and comedian behind the iconic characters of Borat, Bruno, and Ali G, is reportedly working on a new Ali G movie. According to Daniel Richtman, Cohen has been secretly developing the project without much publicity. The movie would be a sequel to the 2002 comedy Ali G Indahouse, which was the first of four films based on Cohen’s characters from Da Ali G Show.
Ali G Indahouse followed the exploits of Ali G, a wannabe gangster from Staines who becomes a pawn in a political plot to overthrow the Prime Minister of Great Britain. The film featured Cohen’s trademark satirical humor and outrageous antics, as well as appearances by other Da Ali G Show characters, such as Borat and Bruno. The film was a box office success, grossing over £17 million worldwide.

Someone once said that no matter what time of day you watch Ed Wood's legendary B-movie "Plan 9 From Outer Space," it always feels like three o'clock in the morning. The mere mention of Troma movies has a similar effect on me; suddenly it's a Friday night down Blockbuster Video in the early '90s all over again. Friends are coming over with beer and pizza and all I need is something with guns, boobs, car crashes, monsters, and cheap laughs for the perfect night in.
Headed by the cartoonish figure of Lloyd Kaufman, the studio has produced and distributed a steady stream of Z-grade trash for over 40 years now, and anyone who was around during the glory days of rental will be familiar with their sleazy back catalog. The world of Troma is both wacky and cynical, populated by dweebs, perverts, knuckleheads, psychos, bimbos, scumlords, and violent morons.

New Delhi, Feb 21 (Ians) India is set to see its smartphone base increase to reach 820 million, currently hovering around 550 million, in the next two years. Despite being the second largest smartphone market in the world (behind China), the country cannot list even a single homegrown mobile-based game that is creating flutters globally.
Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar-promoted Fearless and United Guards (Fau-g), the game that made its debut for Android users on January 26, quickly became the top free mobile game on Google Play Store with more than five million downloads on the Google Play store.
However, over the past few days, the rating has declined dramatically and now, it has just 3 stars for not being as good as the super-hit Pubg that was banned among several Chinese apps.

This shouldn’t be news to anyone, but a film’s MPAA rating has no real bearing on its quality. There are all manner of great to terrible movies rated G, PG, PG-13, and R. Still, this continues to get pushback from a vocal minority every few months. Most recently the furor was over Venom, which some […]

The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) was founded in 1922 to ensure that American films had a “clean moral tone.” In 1968, they eventually established the Classification and Rating Administration, which began issuing ratings for films to help determine what films are appropriate for their children. And those ratings are quite universally known by now for anybody that goes to the movies (G, PG, PG-13. R, and Nc-17).
