Vegeta’s Ultra Ego Has One Humiliating Weakness That Stops Him from Surpassing Goku’s Ultra Instinct
Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball’s success and popularity stems from a number of aspects, but one of the greatest aspects of the show is the wide range of characters that the series has featured over the years. One of them is Vegeta, who was introduced to the series as a villain. However, he has come a long way fighting alongside a fellow Saiyan, Kakarot, who is the main protagonist of the story.
Vegeta in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero
The two complement each other as they have a never-ending rivalry, constantly pushing each other harder to surpass their limits. The Saiyans are often found trading accomplishments as they unlock new Super Saiyan forms. Both have their ultimate transformations, with Kakarot having Ultra Instinct and The Prince of All Saiyans having Ultra Ego.
Sadly, The Proud Saiyan’s signature technique has one embarrassing weakness that limits him forever from surpassing Kakarot’s Ui.

When Luffy first unlocked the Gear 5 mode in One Piece, the entire anime and manga world went through a surge because it was one of the most iconic moments in the entire series. The same can be said for Dragon Ball’s protagonist, Goku, who got his latest transformation, Ultra Instinct, in Dragon Ball Super Tournament of Power.
Gear 5 Luffy in One Piece
As both Goku and Luffy are two of the most legendary protagonists, their power-ups usually bring a sense of excitement among fans and increase their appreciation for the character. Not only that, but because these transformations are quite frequent, fans always compare these power-ups with one another.
However, when comparing Luffy’s Gear 5 to Goku’s Ultra Instinct, the One Piece protagonist emerges victorious solely on the fact that it breaks every basic Shonen power-up rule that has been followed within the anime and manga industries for so many years.

The legends in the game, Akira Toriyama and Eiichiro Oda, have always expressed respect and admiration for each other. Oda has always talked about how he was inspired by Dragon Ball, and it was one of the main reasons why he entered the manga world. Toriyama also used to praise the brilliant work of the One Piece creator.

Both creators are considered to be the pillars of the manga industry, and their works, Dragon Ball and One Piece, have not only amassed a huge fan following since the day they started, but they have also inspired many other manga artists. Have you ever heard a song in a movie or TV show that’s so good that it inspires your muses? I’m one of those people who listens to music when she writes, and many of those songs come from a movie or TV show that slips in a tune that I have to listen to on repeat. A recent gem on the list is from the second season of Invincible from singer-songwriter d4vd. “Feel It” is peak writing fuel for my muses, so I was thrilled to learn that d4vd is also someone who’s inspired by the media around him. “I wrote songs like ‘Here With Me’ after watching the Disney movie Up ,” he said in our interview, and boy, does that add a Lot of context to that song. d4vd is also a huge anime fan, as seen when watching his videos. For ages, Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball manga and anime series has been praised by its fans for its superior storytelling, and featuring the classic elements of a shonen series. The show has been consistent as it showcases the relentless pursuit of self-development with its characters. What started as an idea, now stands tall as one of the most popular franchises of all time.

The epitome of evil in Jujutsu Kaisen, Ryomen Sukuna, is currently defeating every opponent that the Jujutsu sorcerers are throwing at him. Not even legends like Gojo Satoru or Yuka Okkotsu could take down the King of Curses. However, if Sukuna had been in some other universe, the situation would have been different.
Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen
For example, if Sukuna somehow reaches the My Hero Academia anime universe, he won’t stand a chance against the Symbol of Peace of Kohei Horikoshi’s world. Although All Might has given up One for All and has become an ordinary man, in his prime, he could have easily taken down Sukuna before the King of Curses could have even activated his curse techniques.

Akira Toriyama is guilting of nerfing Vegeta excessively in Dragon Ball, just to make Goku the savior. But there is one last hope that the mangaka is simply bidding his time to give Vegeta the boost of a lifetime.
A fan theory suggests one way in which Vegeta could surpass Goku, and it involves a dormant Saiyan ability that has not been mentioned in forever.

Akira Toriyama has given a lot of thought to his magnum opus, the Dragon Ball series where he tells the story with his mighty and lovable protagonist, Son-Goku. When Kaiju No. 8 debuted in April 2024, fans had a lot of expectations from the series, as the series was already successful in the manga industry. Eventually, the anime series lived up to its expectations and became one of the best action anime series of the current year. However, Kaiju No. 8 brought with it a new twist, which is not often seen in the anime world.
Kafka – Kaiju No. 8
The twist was introduced through the protagonist of the series, Kafka Hibino. Kafka was a cleaner for Monster Sweeper Inc., but he always wanted to join the Defense Force to eradicate the Kaiju, or “monsters,” that have infested the world and are wreaking havoc. But later on, he himself becomes a Kaiju, and the story becomes more and more interesting.
The twist that Kafka brought with him was that he defied the physical stereotypes of the Shonen main character.

Goku might be one of the strongest Shonen protagonists, with enough power to blow up planets, but he is majorly lacking in another walk of life. While he is a strong and reliable fighter in Dragon Ball, his skills as a parent and husband are doubtful.

Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball series has been popular on the basic formula of featuring epic fights, lots of training, a gripping story, and some fan theories, that will get you hooked on the show. With rich storytelling and complex characters, featuring Saiyans and different life forms, often leading to interesting fan theories.

Toriyama-Sensei has given much thought to the creation of each of his characters, or else people would not have been addicted to the show for 38 long years. One of the mythic fan speculations of the show is the Genetic Mutation Theory revolves around the Saiyans. Ironically, this theory revolves not around Gohan but a new character, who made his way into the Dragon Ball canon in 2018. If the theory turns out to be true, then, he would surpass Kakarot and The Prince of All Saiyans with ease.

Often, the special ingredient behind a successful villain is a tera-jerker backstory. You can see it in My Hero Academia (Shigaraki), Naruto (Itachi Uchiha), and many other hit anime. Yet, Tite Kubo managed to create one of the biggest anime villains with absolutely no backstory.
Aizen, the slimy (and handsome) antagonist of Bleach, has conquered innumerable hearts. But how? Tite Kubo never gave him a proper backstory. No one knows why he has an evil mentality. Worst of all! You can’t even tell if you should sympathize with him or not. Turns out Kubo never gave much of an explanation for his intentions on purpose.

As Knocked Loose has grown in prominence, they’ve become more unapologetically themselves. Viral sets at Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Reading & Leeds scored massive wins for a scene that has long been considered one of outsiders. With their brand new album, You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To , the band brings their punishing form of hardcore/metalcore into the mainstream. In many ways, their journey mirrors that of anime’s rise to prominence. No one embodies these analogous journeys more than guitarist Nicko Calderon, whose creative voice, both figuratively and quite literally, can be heard throughout the new album’s aggressive 27-minute run time. We spoke with Calderon on the eve of the album’s release to learn more about how anime has impacted his songwriting style, his love of Flcl and The Pillows, and the extremes of anime and heavy music. Can you introduce yourself to the Crunhcyroll audience?...

When Akira Toriyama decided to make Broly a part of the canon series in 2018, after a standalone film, fans of the series were thrilled as the character was quite popular in the franchise. Though the character has been only part of three films in the past, its popularity is immense and it can even rival someone from the canon series.
Broly in The Legendary Super Saiyan Form
The Saiyan was originally introduced as a villain in the franchise, but has now joined the Z-Fighters and is training on Lord Beerus’ planet like fans saw in Dragon Ball Super: Super Heroes. However, Toriyama-Sensei did not decide to introduce the anti-hero because he was popular in the fandom. This is so because Broly can be solely responsible for bringing back Kakarot’s SSJ4 transformation from Dragon Ball Gt, which was lost as a non-canon form.

A healthy rivalry between manga creators is not a bad thing. But when this rivalry is seen between industry giants like Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, and Tite Kubo, the creator of Bleach, it creates a sense of tension between the fans of both series. In 2017, Kubo stated on a radio show that he was jealous of Oda and hated him.
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War
This led to a huge online feud between One Piece and Bleach fans, and since then, there has been a sense of hatred between the two fandoms. However, Oda, being the kind-hearted person he is, responded to Kubo’s remark with kindness. He even invited Kubo to drink on the 20th anniversary of the Bleach series.

Akira Toriyama was considered a father figure in the manga and anime industry due to the creation of the Dragon Ball franchise. It is one of the most popular franchises worldwide and paved the way for the Western countries for the modern generation of anime. He began the serialization of Dragon Ball in 1984 and since then has been an active member of the franchise.
Even though he earned worldwide fame and his magnum opus is regarded as one of the greatest of all time, it was not an easy journey for the mangaka. He had to face several complexities, including his physical and mental conditions to reach the end. Fans would be shocked to know the conditions under which he had to write the chapters and will have a newfound respect for the late great mangaka.

Before the time skip in One Piece, all the admirals from the Navy were hated by One Piece fans except for Aokiji Kuzan. He was the only admiral who did not have a crude sense of justice like Kizaru or Akainu. It was revealed that Aokiji was recommended for the position of Fleet Admiral after Sengoku retired. However, he had to fight Akainu for the position. Legendary mangaka Akira Toriyama was not only the creator of series like Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball, but he had also ventured into the world of video games. Toriyama had worked on multiple games, like Chrono Tiger and Blue Dragon. But his biggest achievement in the gaming world was his character designs for the popular role-playing game Dragon Quest.
Dragon Quest
While Toriyama earned a lot of recognition with Dragon Quest, he was not particularly a fan of his works in the series. In 2017, when Dragon Quest celebrated its 30th anniversary, Toriyama shared a special letter where he claimed that he would have never agreed to work on the video game if he had known that it would have gone for so long.
The manga creator also gave a reason why he was not interested in working on Dragon Quest anymore and would rather have someone else take his job and design the characters.
