Nuti's bittersweet perspective on a younger Giulia
bofondao10 November 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Although this is not one of Nuti's best movies, I enjoyed watching it pretty much. Not that I expected the kind of humor he had in "Caruso Paskoski" or in "Willy Signori", but I thought I'd see something worse. In 2001, when the film was shot, he was probably affected by alcohol and drug problems already, and this is somehow reflected in Nuti's acting, directing and screen writing, since we notice his sadder and much more disenchanted look at the world as in his first movies. In spite of this, he can still make you smile (though not laugh, unfortunately). It is a sort of bittersweet humor in which he combines his "Tuscanity" with the point of view of a father who suddenly realizes her daughter has grown older, and who is afraid of her becoming adolescent because he has been raised in a totally different way. If you accept this compromise, "Caruso zero in condotta" is surely worth watching. Whether you are a fan or not...
