Michael Douglas made Thursday’s premiere of his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones‘ new Lifetime movie Cocaine Godmother a family affair, posing on the red carpet with son Cameron Douglas.
The father-son duo smiled for photographers at the New York City event — Michael, 73, wearing a black leather jacket, matching sweater and navy pants while Cameron, 38, rocked a bright blue sweater, untucked white button-down and light-colored khaki pants.
Zeta-Jones looked happy on the carpet too, wearing a sleeveless black jumpsuit. The Oscar and Tony winner accessorized her look with diamond hoop earrings and natural looking makeup, adding a pop of pink lipstick.

Chicago – Say the name Whit Stillman in certain cinema circles, and a rush of admiration soon follows. The director made a name for himself with his debut film “Metropolitan’ (1990), and followed with the same emotional pallette in “Barcelona” (1994). He is back with an adaptation of a Jane Austin novel, entitled “Love & Friendship.”
The title is taken from one of Jane Austin’s short stories, but the narrative is from her novel “Lady Susan,” published 60 years after her death. It involves the title character (portrayed in the film by Kate Beckinsale), a widow without fortune, who is looking to marry again to wealth, and wishes the same for her daughter. She visits the estate of her sister-in-law and brother-in-law – Charles and Catherine Vernon – in the hopes of making a match for her lovely child Frederica, or at least herself.

Dennis Weaver utters these words in my favorite Steven Spielberg film, Duel, a production that was originally commissioned by Universal Pictures as an Mow, industry shorthand for “movie of the week”, which aired on Saturday, November 13, 1971. The reviews were glowing; the film’s admirers greatly outweighed its detractors and it put Mr. Spielberg, arguably the most phenomenally successful director in the history of the medium, on a path to a career that would make any contemporary director green with envy. Followed by a spate of contractually obligated television outings, Duel would prove to be the springboard that would catapult Mr. Spielberg into the realm that he was shooting for since his youth: that of feature film directing. Duel would also land him in the court of Hollywood producers David Brown and Richard Zanuck and get him his...

Dear, James Wan
It was a moderately hot day here on Long Island. The temperature peaked at about 84 degrees (Fahrenheit. This Is America) and one could paint it to be one of the more idyllic days in the Hamptons. Instead of going to the beach, driving to Montauk, or getting shit-faced at 2 in the afternoon, I decided to see your latest film, with my father, at our local theater. I have been rather busy lately with my job (the Hamptons are quite insane this time of year, James), and I haven’t had any quality time with my old man. He is already familiar with your work. I sat him down to watch Insidious during the fall, and he enjoyed it. I figured that our bonding time should be spent catching up on Wan’s latest. We spent this warm, Monday afternoon getting spooked by the one director who still...

Steven Spielberg may be longtime regarded as one of the world's greatest living filmmakers, but even he admits his opus 'Lincoln' is of particular significance to him.
Strong words from the talent behind behind Schindler’s List (1993), Saving Private Ryan (1998), Jaws (1975), E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), and Jurassic Park (1993).
So why was a film about the 16th president's bid to pass the 13th Amendment, abolishing slavery and ending the Civil War, so special and worth a whopping 11 years of preparation? With the release of 'Lincoln' on DVD and Blu-Ray, we'll let him explain...
Lincoln loomed large in your childhood but what was the era of history that first excited you?
My first interest in history was war — the European war, WWII, and that would be because my father fought in that war and those were the first stories that he told me.
Your father fought in the China-Burma-India theatre, right?
Yes, Cbi.

It's been a while now that Sanjay Dutt was incarcerated, however all this while there have been various reports that have suggested myriad reasons on Dutt's daughter Trishala's absence from the city. Finally, Trishala broke her silence with her latest blog post, talking about her absence, the phase when she wanted to enter Bollywood and of course on her father. Below are a few excerpts from her blog: "I've been harassed as to why I'm so silent on the subject but all I want to say is this, I've become an elder sister to my twin siblings Iqra & Sharaan. It's up to me to be strong for them and set a good example for them being the eldest daughter of the house. There's no such thing as having an "emotional breakdown" anymore. I love my father to death and I will always be his blood, his first born, his everything.

It has been 25 years since the release of the original Die Hard, but there are few heroes that can top John McClane. To celebrate the franchise's anniversary, 20th Century Fox has released a must-own Blu-ray collection of the first four films.
For those of you that are familiar with the Alien Anthology, you will feel right at home with this set. The packaging is very similar, and uses a book-like hard cover. This is the best packaging on a collector's set since Tarantino Xx. The artwork is not in the same league, but it is cool to see McClane in action with what looks to be shards of glass exploding around him. It isalso cool to see Willis going from a full head of hair to bald.

The Bollywood actor's early films are fondly remembered because, in their day, they offered a triumphant alternative version of what it meant to be Asian
I was probably 12 years old the first time I saw an Amitabh Bachchan film. It was the early 80s and video players were relatively rare. My family did not own one so my father would, like many Asians at the time, hire a machine, which he would pick up on a Friday evening and return on Sunday. The cost of the video hire was, I recall, £5, and my dad and I would also select three or four films to watch on the Friday and Saturday evening. Invariably, these films would star Amitabh Bachchan.
Bollywood movies – especially those released in the 70s and 80s – are today often viewed as gaudy kitsch, but the pleasure I derived from titles such as Coolie, Naseeb and Sholay was entirely unironic.

Several months after they launched a reality production company together, Jay McGraw, Dr. Phil McGraw, Jay Bienstock and Eugene Young have set up several projects. “My father and I decided that we wanted to make a real effort to get in the broadcast space,” said Jay McGraw, executive producer with Phil McGraw of daytime syndicated talk show The Doctors, a spinoff of Phil McGraw’s Dr. Phil. The two teamed with veteran unscripted producers Bienstock and Young to form Ghost Mountain Prods. The idea behind the company is to “take things that work well in the daytime space but we think would work better in primetime and move those concepts to primetime,” Jay McGraw said. The first project from Ghost Mountain Prods. to hit the air is Cracking Addiction, a special for TLC, which premieres tomorrow night. Matt Bondurant, the author of Lawless, on which John Hillcoat's film was based, says his family's role in the moonshine business only came to light in recent years
Everyone in my family was aware that my grandfather used to run liquor when he was a young man. My father remembers as a boy being in the back of an old Ford, using his hands to steady the clinking of glass jars of "white lightning" packed around him while making deliveries. The 47-year-old star of Scott & Bailey on adoption, acting and Russell T Davies
People can't place me. I'll be in the supermarket and they'll say, "Are you the woman who goes to the gym with my sister?" And I'll say, "I don't know. Probably." You can choose to go about your life attracting attention or deflecting it. I'm very happy to do my work and then slip into my private life.
I would go anywhere and do anything for Russell T Davies. We did some great work 10 years ago – the TV series Bob & Rose and The Second Coming. It's not true that he wanted me to be the first female Doctor Who, but I would if he asked, obviously.

We have a report or two from the International Film Festival Rotterdam on the way, so this'll be something of a supplementary roundup, collecting reviews, impressions and so on from the festival that runs through Sunday. The first main event would have to be the world premiere of the film Takashi Miike is now calling Ace Attorney. The Iffr has posted a video record of Gawie Keyser's "Big Talk" with Miike that took place on Saturday. The introduction's in Dutch, and it's followed by a trailer with English subtitles (much longer, too, than the first trailer) and the conversation itself is a mingling of questions in English and answers in Japanese with Dutch subtitles. Miike obsessives, though, will be able to sort out what's being said.

Growing up, I learned to compartmentalize my feelings from a very early age. I spoke to my brother about music and nothing else. I talked to my dad about things I enjoyed collecting, instead of anything that actually mattered to me.
The only person I spoke to about anything important was my mom. But even with her, I kept a lot hidden.
Let's just say we weren't the Brady Bunch
So whether to “come out” as bisexual to my family was a question that didn't really come up until it was already pretty much too late. That aside, I can say with some certainty that I have no real idea how my mom would have reacted.
My mom, you see, was a wonderful woman. She did everything for her family. She was the breadwinner, the peacekeeper, the CEO and the heart of us. I understood this on some level growing up,...

Cheers were heard from West Hollywood to Chelsea as the announcement rang forth that Armie Hammer would be playing the lead in the "who-the-hell-asked-for-this" reboot of The Lone Ranger.
To be frank, I'd have zero interest in this movie whatsoever if it weren't a Gore Verbinski film. I'm still in a bit of a state of shock after the awesomeness that was Rango, so Verbinski could announce his next project was an adaptation of the yellow pages and I'd be on board.
Johnny Depp is already attached to play Tonto.
I have a distinct memory of being bored out of my skull in 1981 when my father took me to the last reboot of the iconic radio programme character, The Legend of the Lone Ranger. It was supposed to be a great father-son bonding moment (a follow-up to us seeing Superman II, a theater-going experience I'll never forget) but I distinctly remember falling asleep,...

There you are, all curled up on the sofa, holding a mug of hot cocoa with one hand, knitting an unsightly reindeer sweater with the other. Your tree is twinkling, your fireplace is glowing, and your neighbors are caroling semi-competently on your snow-dusted lawn. Is there anything that could make this scene more festive? You bet your sweet chestnuts there is. The holidays aren’t officially the holidays until we gorge ourselves on the buffet of new Christmas TV movies served up around this time of year. Are they corny? Like an Iowa farm. Predictable? You can set your watch...

Go Lala Go sees mainland actress Xu Jinglei return behind the camera as well as in front of it for the first time since her increasingly prominent supporting roles in a trio of powerhouse Asian blockbusters (Confession of Pain (2006), The Warlords (2007) and Jackie Chan's The Shinjuku Incident (2009)).
Though she's enjoyed domestic success for some years now her previous projects as director and star have always been on a surprisingly intimate scale, whether the confessional melodrama of My Father And I (2003), the period tragedy of Letter From An Unknown Woman (2004) or the chamber duologue of What Dreams May Come (2006).
Go Lala Go is different. It's a glossy rom-com, basically. Though it flirts with a number of subtexts and is directed with a graceful, picture-perfect style that belies how flimsy the material is, it's still a story of girl meets boy, where the two protagonists wonder if they can ever make...

According to reports, the reunion was all Brad’s idea!
No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. That really is Angelina Jolie, 34, and her father Jon Voight, 71, together… in the same photo! The estranged father and daughter reunited Feb. 21 in Venice, Italy, where Angie is currently shooting The Tourist alongside Johnny Depp, 46. Along with Brad Pitt, 46, and the rest of the Brangelina brood, Angie and her dad went for a water taxi ride through the Venice Grand Canal. According to RadarOnline.com, the father-daughter reunion was orchestrated by Brad, who also reunited Jennifer Aniston with her estranged mother during their marriage.
Though Angelina and Jon were once close — they appeared together in Angie’s first movie, Lookin’ To Get Out, in 1982 — their relationship has since become strained. “My father and I don’t speak,” Angelina has said of her relationship with Jon. “I don’t hold any anger toward him.

My father and I were engaging in the modern-day phenomenon known as Instant Messaging—or, as my dad likes to call it, "talking on the computer." Living on opposite sides of the country, we've become accustomed to conducting most of our interaction in cyberspace. But this time was special—this time we were planning my upcoming visit home.We planned dinners. We planned nights in. Even though it would be a short trip, it would be the first in more than a year, and the first since my father experienced a pretty serious health scare a couple months prior. Knowing all too well how an actor's schedule changes day to day, my father sounded nervous as he asked, "You sure you're coming home, Suzy?"With just one day left before my departure, and having booked out with all of my agents, I felt confident. "Dad," I Im'ed with a grin,...

The pop icon’s sister La Toya has revealed 11-year-old Paris – who has two brothers, Prince Michael I, 12, and seven-year-old Prince Michael II, known as ‘Blanket’ - decided to put the photos up because she wants to be reminded of her dad everyday. She said: “They’re all doing fine – they’re coping with it quite well. Paris’ bedroom is covered with posters of her father, Prince doesn’t want to speak about it and ‘Blanket’ is just very sad – he cries. In the beginning, it was hard for them, but they understand he’s no longer with us.” La Toya, 53, says Michael’s kids are still in therapy as they try and come to terms with the loss of their father – who died from acute Propofol intoxication on June 25. She added to Britain’s New! magazine: “They’re working with a psychiatrist. You have to have someone to ask...

I always try to find at least one film at Toronto that's way off the beaten track. I rarely stray further afield than I did Tuesday night, when I found myself watching "Wake in Fright," a film made in Australia in 1971 and almost lost forever. It's not dated. It is powerful, genuinely shocking, and rather amazing. It comes billed as a "horror film," and contains a great deal of horror, but all of the horror is human and brutally realistic.
Donald Pleasence in "Wake in Fright"
The story involves a young school teacher in the middle of the desolate wilderness of the Outback. The opening overhead shot shows a shabby building beside a railroad track, the camera pans 360 degrees and finds only the distant horizon. and then returns to find a second building on the other side of the tracks. One building is the school. The other is the hotel.

Warner Bros. has joined Haut et Court and Cine @ to finance and produce Anne Fontaine's upcoming biopic "Coco Avant Chanel," according to Variety.
Based on Edmonde Charles-Roux's book "L'Irreguliere," the film examines the life and career of renowned fashion designer Coco Chanel. Fontaine wrote the script along with Camille Fontaine and consultant Christopher Hampton.
French actress Audrey Tautou stars as the titular character. Tautou's acting credits include "Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain" (Amelie), "A Very Long Engagement" and "Priceless."
Production is scheduled to start this September, with a release date planned for later next year. Karl Lagerfeld, art director of the House of Chanel, will assist in the recreation of dresses and accessories.
I'm definitely not a fashion guru, but I am most certainly looking forward to this project, primarily because of the casting of Tautou, who is undoubtedly the best choice for this complex role.

NEW YORK -- Wellspring has acquired all U.S. rights to Anne Fontaine's erotic thriller Nathalie, starring Gerard Depardieu, Fanny Ardant and Emmanuelle Beart. The film centers on a woman who hires a prostitute to seduce her husband and report on his erotic tastes. Directed by Fontaine, whose previous credits include Dry Cleaning and How I Killed My Father, the film premiered at the 2003 Toronto Film Festival and will have its West Coast premiere Tuesday at the City of Lights, City of Angels Film Festival in Los Angeles. Marie Therese Guirgis, Wellspring's head of acquisitions, negotiated the deal with John Kochman of Studio Canal. Nathalie was produced by Les Films Alain Sarde.
