ABC's lineup of Saturday morning cartoons in the '90s was filled with timeless shows like The Weekenders and House of Mouse. Among the best shows they had to offer was Recess, created by Paul Germain and Jon Ansolabehere. The series follows fourth-graders Tj, Spinelli, Vince, Gretchen, Mikey, and Gus as they and the many colorful characters who surround them get into strange adventures, primarily during their recess period.
Recess is a classic animated Disney series that any '90s kid will remember fondly. Similarly to Codename: Kids Next Door, much of the series' appeal stems from its expansive cast and the way that, no matter how silly the stories seem on the surface, the characters take them completely seriously. Recess ran for six seasons across multiple networks, and while the changes between them are minimal, they're still noticeable.

Every so often, a pitch for a television show that never got off the ground leaks onto the internet. More often than not, it’s an original idea; other times, it’s a pitch to revive an older intellectual property. Well, this has just happened when a pitch bible for a reboot of the classic Disney One Saturday Morning cartoon Recess was discovered.
For those who may not remember, Recess was a series created by Paul Germain and Joe Ansolabehere in 1997 for Disney’s One Saturday Morning block. The show followed a group of six friends, all fourth graders, enjoying that special time of day: Recess. The show not only gave us fun adventures with the gang but also commentary on society and social norms through the eyes of a child.
The series ran from 1997 to 2001 and had 65 episodes. It concluded with the theatrical film Recess: School’s Out in 2001 and a handful of direct-to-video specials.

Ben Stiller, James Woods, John Ales and more Hollywood notables have taken to social media to pay tribute to Dabney Coleman, who died at 92.
The legendary comic actor known for his roles in 9 to 5, Tootsie and Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, died Thursday at his Santa Monica home, his daughter, singer Quincy Coleman, told The Hollywood Reporter.
“My father crafted his time here on Earth with a curious mind, a generous heart and a soul on fire with passion, desire and humor that tickled the funny bone of humanity,” she said in a statement. “As he lived, he moved through this final act of his life with elegance, excellence and mastery.”
Following the news of his death, fellow actor Stiller took to X (formerly Twitter) to write, “The great Dabney Coleman literally created, or defined, really – in a uniquely singular way — an archetype as a character actor. He was so good...

Since its first feature film in 1937, Disney has crafted a sterling reputation as one of the most consistent studios in the world. More often than not, audiences can head into a Disney production knowing they're likely to see a quality picture. Although, this sterling reputation isn't to say they haven't had any duds.
Ranking every movie made under the Disney banner would take forever. Between their live-action and animated works, Disney's movie portfolio is massive. Plus, this sizable group only continues to grow with acquisitions such as Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars. But with the trusty help of everyone's favorite movie rating site, Rotten Tomatoes, it's possible to rank the least popular that Disney has to offer regarding its bread and butter: animation.

The animated series Recess from the '90s, which was spun off into a number of direct-to-video movies and one big screen endeavor called" Recess: School's Out, is getting a continuation from independent filmmakers, as a short fan film sequel to the show is currently in the works.
Now procuring its budget by way of crowdfunding, the project comes from Jerome Yoo and Kent Donguines with a script by Zlatina Pacheva. The Recess sequel will bring back all of the kids we remember seeing from the classic cartoon, only now they're in high school dealing with the issues older teenagers face as they head towards graduation and adulthood. Oh, and we should also mention the movie will be live-action, depicting how the older versions of the characters would look after moving on from junior high.
