Rick Rude and Jim Hellwig in Royal Rumble (1989)

Trivia

Royal Rumble

Edit
According to Bill Eadie & Barry Darsow (Demolition Ax & Smash), neither of them knew until their theme music played for the second time at the number 2 entrance spot, that they were going to have to wrestle each other in the Royal Rumble match. They had not planned to wrestle each other, as Vince McMahon & Pat Patterson purposely did not tell them their entrance number. Ax & Smash had to improvise their spots for the first two minutes, until Andre the Giant came out as the number three entrant. Bill said he was relieved when Andre came out, so the tag team partners could stop having to fight each other.
The 1989 Royal Rumble was expanded to 30 Superstars in the main event match even though The 1988 Royal Rumble had only 20 Superstars.
First WWF PPV appearance for Butch and Luke a.k.a. the Bushwhackers.
Only Royal Rumble to have both members of a Tag Team start off the Rumble as numbers 1 and 2. Namely Ax and Smash of Demolition.
First WWF PPV appearance for Big John Studd since WrestleMania II in 1986.
