Last year, author Grady Hendrix contributed the 29 page short story Ankle Snatcher (you can read it Here) to the Amazon Original Stories Creature Feature collection, which also featured stories by Joe Hill, Josh Malerman, Paul Tremblay, Jason Mott, and Chandler Baker. Now, Deadline reports that Sony has acquired the rights to make a feature film adaptation of Ankle Snatcher.
Hendrix’s story follows Marcus, who grew up believing his father killed his mother — then blamed it on the boogeyman under the bed. Always leave the lights on, his father warned, or the boogeyman will get you. Marcus still heeds the superstition, especially when he invites his new girlfriend over. Is Marcus haunted by a creature or has he just inherited his father’s murderous delusions? The night will tell.
Hendrix will be producing the film alongside Escape Artist’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Tony Shaw, and Aperture Entertainment’s Adam Goldworm.

That changed a few days ago, when he tweeted about the controversial decision in the Vasiliy Lomachenko-Devin Haney boxing match.
On Saturday, May 27, however, he chimed in with an earnest message of thanks for his fans.

Jimi Hendrix solidified his spot in rock music history in the late 1960s with three albums performed with his band, The Jimi Hendrix Experience. And although each album was a significant piece of work, Hendrix didn’t have much of a say in how the album covers looked when they sat on store shelves.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience released their debut album Are You Experienced in May 1967. The original UK version of the album featured an image of Hendrix wearing a cape with his arms wide open as he towered above his bandmates, Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell.
“[Hendrix’s] music at the time was pretty wild, and the prevalent thing at the time was psychedelic and all things strange, so you had to do something odd,” Bruce Fleming, the album cover’s photographer,...

In Richard K. Morgan’s sci-fi noir detective novel “Altered Carbon,” the Hendrix hotel is a crucial character. It isn’t just a building with a Jimi Hendrix theme — it’s also an artificial intelligence that bonds in peculiar ways with its lone guest, hired gun and reluctant hero, Takeshi Kovacs.
A big part of adapting “Altered Carbon” into a series for Netflix was originally going be creating a screen version of the Hendrix, which serves as Kovacs’ close ally and base of operations. But there was a problem: Hendrix’s estate declined to give the production rights to use the legendary rock guitarist’s name and image, so executive producer and showrunner Laeta Kalogridis and her team had to reimagine the hotel from the ground up.
Poetic Change
“The Hendrix estate doesn’t license his image for anything that they consider to be violent,” says Kalogridis. “And our show definitely,...

"Jimi: All Is by my Side" will open in select theaters this Friday, September 26th. A little over a decade ago, VH1 premiered one of its many mediocre television biopics, "Hendrix." Playing well against type, Wood Harris starred as the iconic guitarist, alongside Vivica A. Fox (as girlfriend/groupie Faye Pridgeon), and Billy Zane. A general overview of Hendrix’s life, the film chronicled his time playing with black artists like Little Richard, his period as a recording artist in London, his breakthrough performance at the legendary Monterey Pop Festival in 1967, and his untimely death at the age of 27. It had all the hallmarks of most rock ‘n roll biopics: the...

The second season of "Orphan Black" (premiering on BBC America, Sat. April 19 at 9:00 p.m.) is just around the corner, and the network is taunting us with a photo and, yes, episode synopses. Spoiler alert -- I've included the synopses at the bottom of the page, and if you don't want to know anything about the new faces joining the show, be careful not to stare too long at the attached picture or read the descriptions. I've tried to post Warning everywhere I can, but, again, use caution. Just in case you've forgotten anything from season one, though, there's a helpful synopsis below. You will be more than ready for season two! The show picks up where we left off, with Sarah (the super fabulous Tatiana Maslany) racing to find her missing daughter Kira (Skyler Wexler). The pursuit brings her head-to-head with ruthless pro-clone, Rachel Duncan (Maslany). This season...

It had all the hallmarks of most rock ‘n roll biopics: the tough childhood, the discovery of genius, the hit single, the hard partying, the groupies, the hangers-on, the drug...

Linda Keith lent a young blues player a guitar belonging to her boyfriend, Keith Richards – and the rest is history. In a rare interview, she tells her story
Rock'n'roll has had many pivotal moments, but few are as clear cut as when Linda Keith, a 20-year-old British Vogue model and blues fanatic, lent a virtually unknown Jimi Hendrix a white Fender Stratocaster, the instrument that would become forever entwined with the guitarist's legendary and unsurpassed technique.
One person rightfully aggrieved by this gesture was the guitar's owner and Linda's boyfriend of three years, Keith Richards. Richards, then on the Rolling Stones' 1966 tour of the Us, wasn't going to get his guitar or his striking, dark-haired girlfriend back – she had made it her mission to launch Hendrix's career. But he and Brian Jones did write the song Ruby Tuesday about her – "Goodbye Ruby Tuesday/ Who could hang a name on you?...

Plans to make a Jimi Hendrix biopic starring Outkast's Andre 3000 may have hit a snag: The family of the late rock legend is against it, saying that they won't allow rights to the music. According to the Wall Street Journal, Experience Hendrix LLC, the family-owned company that manages Hendrix's music and publishing, released a statement saying that it does not support the film. "[The Estate] has made it known many times in the past that no such film, were it to include original music or copyrights created by Jimi Hendrix, can be undertaken without its full participation.” That said, Experience Hendrix doesn't necessarily oppose all projects, it just won't sanction any films without the group's approval. "CEO Janie Hendrix, sister of Jimi Hendrix, and the Eh board, have not ruled out a ‘biopic' in the future, though producing partners would, out of necessity, have to involve the company from the...

Two upcoming features, based on rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix are in the works, including screenwriter Max Borenstein's take for Legendary Pictures, hoping for authorization from the Hendrix Estate.
In addition, producers Don "Shoot 'Em Up" Murphy and Carol Lewis are developing a 'fictional' account of what happened during Jimi Hendrix' 'lost weekend', when his manager orchestrated a hoax kidnapping.
The 2000 TV Movie "Hendrix", shot by director Leon Ichaso in Toronto was nominated for a primetime Emmy, starring Wood Harris, Billy Zane and Vivica A. Fox. The film chronicled Hendrix' early career, focusing on his move from the Us to England becoming friends with producer 'Chas Chandler' who teamed him up with bandmates Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding to form the Experience.
Sneak Peek's Michael Stevens had the opportunity of playing 'Jimi's Roadie' in the film, as a member of the band's entourage.
