As the first installment of Diabolic's spin on the Anabolic gangbang formula, Gregg Alan's direction keeps the format simple, offering what feels like a behind-the-scenes peek into a hardcore rehearsal rather than a polished production. That rawness might appeal to some viewers looking for authenticity over artifice, but it also leaves the film feeling uneven and, at times, monotonous.
The three featured performers-Caroline, Oceane, and a third familiar face-tackle the intense physical demands of their scenes with visible stamina, but it's Oceane who stands out most. Her performance is relentless, particularly during a brutal sequence involving multiple double penetrations and an extended encounter with Lexington Steele, whose infamous anatomy becomes both a challenge and a symbol of the film's extreme ambitions. Oceane doesn't just endure; she embraces the chaos, earning the viewer's respect in a way that transcends the film's explicit content.
Technically, the film feels very much of its time: grainy, handheld camerawork, minimal editing, and virtually no storyline. There's little variation in the structure of each scene, which begins to drag despite the performers' efforts. The relentless focus on intensity over buildup or chemistry makes the action blur together after a while. Still, for fans of high-stamina group scenes and late-90s gonzo style, this is a time capsule of a specific adult film era that favored raw, unscripted energy over polish.
Despite the lack of narrative and repetitiveness, Gangbang Auditions succeeds at delivering what it sets out to-an unfiltered, unrelenting series of sexual trials that push the performers (and viewers) into the deep end of hardcore. Whether that's a good or bad thing depends entirely on what you're looking for.
