Catchy Songs

It's easy to dismiss this as just another cheap Chipmunks production designed to appeal to kids and nobody else but, if you have a nostalgic eye for the "Alvin and the Chipmunks Meets" films (as I do), there's still some value in going back and revisiting them.

The story is pretty simple and straightforward: a creepy man moves into town and Alvin is sure that man is the Wolfman. When Theodore winds up confronting the man face-to-face, he begins to undergo some frightening changes. Is it just a bunch of Halloween pranks or is there some validity to the psychic and monster-crazed books in Alvin's collection?

This film really gets its appeal in the music. The songs are well done, catchy little ear worms that are an absolute delight to revisit every year around the Halloween season.

This film definitely isn't a great cinematic achievement (although it's better than the more recent Chipmunks films), but for those of us who grew up on it, it'll always hold a special place in our hearts.

Pretty Good,Even If It's A Kiddie Flick

I was watching my little sister the other day,and seen that it was on Jetix.It's been a while.It totally brings back memories.

Plot:Alvin is at it again with his monster obsession,and thinks his neighbor,Mr.Talbot is a werewolf.Simon thinks Alvin is an idiot and that he is over-reacting.And for that reason,Alvin is forced to go cold turkey.Meanwhile,Theodore is struggling with a bully,and the school play,Dr.Jakyll and Mr.Hyde,and he has the role of Mr.Hyde.One night,Theodore is attacked and bitten by a 'stray dog' and starts to act weird.Alvin suspects his changing into a werewolf,and convinces Simon too.It's up to them to help Theodore before he becomes a full werewolf.

I loved being able to see this again after at least three years.It's one of my guilty pleasures to be honest.If you like Alvin and the Chipmunks,and of course werewolves,then you might enjoy this as much as I did.The idea is great and I thought the animation was great also.We do learn a little bit more about them also.I never knew Theodore was a vegetarian!

A really good send-off for the Chipmunks of the 80s!

Basically, the story revolves around Alvin having nightmares about Werewolves and he's convinced that their neighbour secretly is one. Unconvinced and annoyed with his obsession, Dave removes all of Alvin's Monster related toys and books, but this does not hinder Alvin's demand to know the truth. Essentially press-ganging Simon into assisting him Alvin and Simon set about trying to find traces and evidence to prove the werewolf's existence whilst also trying to rehearse for a Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde pantomime at their school. Meanwhile, Theodore is bitten by a large dog whilst returning from the Chippette's house to give Elenor a gift, the next day it is found that he is incredibly athletic and substantially more mentally able.

It's not often that a Direct-to-Video film grabs my attention, but the fact that it was Alvin and the Chipmunks, one of my favourite Cartoon memories, is the main reason I had to watch this. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much as I'd had a run in with various other films of this type which had either been blandly predictable or just downright boring. But this however was something totally different.

Unlike most DTV films, this film manages to keep the zest and entertainment of the original 80s show and weave it into a story that is just as much enjoyable for adults as it is for kids. The usual array of Chipmunk musical numbers never cease either and to be honest, they never seem to lose their originality either, which was always why I preferred the animated features to the beaten down live action films of the past 5 years. Also, this movie was able to keep the characters to their usual behavioural standards unlike the newer films which seem to have just replaced them with one stereotype and no individual character separating either of them. Alvin is still his usual mischievous and egotistical self, Simon is the voice of reason and logic and Theodore is the child of innocence, even though this film will reveal that he can be far more than that. It also has a good bit of humour as well, especially the part where Simon and Alvin are stood in front of the whole crowd with their trousers at half mast when the curtain goes up for their pantomime. It was so unexpectedly hilarious I spat my tea back out!

Basically, its a delight and really is a brilliant way for the Chipmunks of the 1980s TV Series to end, on a really high note. It almost makes me sad that the Chipmunks of my childhood ended at that point and were to be replaced by something a lot less enjoyable, but never the less, it is still a great film and I recommend it to anyone young or old! :D

Deep Characters with Great Music and Storyline

The summary says it all. This movie is something that I can watch over and over again and still laugh, not to mention let out a thousand "Aww!"s at how completely adorable all of the Chipmunks are. I've been a fan of the show for quite a long time, and I think it's great to see them bringing back the timeless characters in these fresh and invigorating new movies. I even hesitate to say any more, for fear of reducing anyone's enjoyment so please watch! Every person I've recommended this to has gone out and purchased a copy of their own, so we can only hope for soundtrack or DVD release in the future (and hopefully, another movie).

Another Great Alvin Movie

This is a great movie if you are a fan on the Chipmunks or if you want to introduce your kids to the Chipmunks.

I usually watch this around Halloween time, it's not scary really at all except maybe for the very young.

The Chipmunks are always lighthearted. Alvin's antics are great and this movie is full of great songs.

The animation is bright and colorful, the story is cute. I'd recommend this for young kids who want to get into the mood of Halloween but don't want to be frightened by the usual films played on television.

If you enjoy this I'm sure you'll enjoy their other videos and episodes released on DVD.

Not a bad film but it's really only for young children and fans

Alvin is struggling with nightmares about a werewolf and Dave takes away all his monster toys to help him get over it - even going so far as to take him out of the school play version of Jekyl and Hyde. Theodore is suffering at the hands of a school bully and he is given the lead role of Hyde to help him get over his lack of confidence. However, the strange new neighbour, Mr Talbot is worrying the trio with his howling dog. However things take a strange twist when Alvin gets bitten by a stray dog and suddenly manages to defeat his insecurities and shyness overnight.

Babysitting means occasionally getting stuck with films that you really, really don't want to see but are a useful tool for what you want to achieve (distraction). Matters weren't helped for me by the fact that I really don't like the chipmunks. I'm young enough to remember the tv show from my childhood and never really got past their annoying voices and cutesy characters. Here the plot is so very fragmented that you're never really sure what bit you're supposed to be following, until they all sort of are simplified and combined in the second half. It isn't as bad as I'd feared but it is still a bit heavy on the ol' messages - way too heavy handed for adults but going right over the heads of the young children that will be watching this. The film is never scary (a good thing) even if the early atmosphere of some scenes is a bit creepy for young 'uns. The film doesn't have a single gag that adults will get and is almost totally aimed at kids with it's energy and bright colours. Animation-wise it is bright and fun and pretty professional with some nice visual touches.

The voice work is reasonable enough but your opinion will very much depend on whether or not you can stomach the squeaky voice rats that are the chipmunks. I find it pretty difficult to really understand what they are saying all the time and I'm sure kids must too - plus their voices just add to their unrelentingly depressing cheerfulness and cuteness. Bagdasarian and Karman are the two inhaling helium to bring these characters to life but, as I said, they just annoyed the hell out of me. The only other voice I recognised was LaMarche who has been in many famous cartoons.

Overall this is not a terrible film but it's target audience does not include me. The animation is bright and colourful enough to keep kids happy and distracted for about an hour or so but I can't imagine any child over the age of 10 being held by this. Fans of the chipmunks will enjoy it but you have to wonder how many fans this series can have who are in double figures.

Superior sequel

Alvin and the Chipmunks is the superior to the Alvin and the Chipmunks meet Frankenstein movie from the year prior. It is all the qualities of the previous film doubled.

This movie changed my life

The hit 2000's movie Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet the Wolfman is a fantastic movie and it really changed my life for the better. This version of Dave is also super hot in this movie for like no reason but that just makes the movie like ten times better. I think the movie is great and is actually really good after all this time and. The one problem I do have with this movie is how the girl chipmunks look really human compared to the chipmunks so it looks really weird when they are together. But also I do really like this movie and I think it is a really fun movie all these years later so yeah :)

Alvin and the chipmunks are putting on a production of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde at their school but poor Alvin keeps having dreams about a werewolf. He thinks that this might be due to the mysterious Mr. Talbot who has moved in next door so he gets a monster kit and starts to investigate. Universal produced this animated feature so naturally one should expect to see some homages to their classic horror films from the 30s and 40s. The film starts off on a pretty good note as we're introduced to all the main characters but sadly the writing pretty much goes downhill after that. I must admit that I was pretty disappointed in several ways because not only does the film not really deliver to the studios previous movies but it's also a letdown from the animated TV show. Those who grew up watching the TV show will probably be disappointment because a lot of the innocence and charm is missing here. There's really not too much heart or soul to any of the three chipmunks and Dave as well for that matter. I think the writing just didn't bring any of the characters to life as there was just something missing that kept them from being more enduring. If you're familiar with Universal's horror movies then you're going to know the name Talbot but sadly very little is done with it. One wishes that the studio and writers would have done more homages to the previous films or at least make this more entertaining for the adults watching.
